When creating this riding arena, we considered air flow, lighting, materials, the safety of horse and rider, and ease of access to the facility. With arched open-air windows on one side, and large fans overhead, air flow is never a problem. In fact, “garage doors” can be opened on the opposite length of the arena to make it a pavilion setting for maximum breeze. Large windows and skylights bring in plenty of light, while hand-bent wood bumpers keep horses safely away from the outside walls.

The stall area is the heart of any horse barn. When building a new horse barn, the first thing to consider is how many stalls you need, both now and in the future. Do you plan to have more horses, either your own or as boarders? Do you plan to start breeding horses? Then, think about stall dimensions. Horses should have ample room to lie down, get up, and turn around. This keeps them comfortable and reduces the likelihood of injury.
