Every patient you ever see you should be individually assessing the EKG. Do your best to avoid looking at the computer read! I don’t know how many times I get called based on the computer read for MIs, Afib, etc. If you know basics you can get through the majority of an EKG. Leave the advanced tracings to cardiology, but every physician to be able to get through the basics (rate, rhythm, axis, intervals, ST segments) 🗺️ To understand EKGs you have to understand the map.
