The differences in how each type of shimmy looks are subtle but the technique is very different. The idea here with the knee shimmy is to imagine you are trying to hit the wall behind you each time you straighten your knee (different from the hip shimmy where you stay low and keep both knees bent). The faster you go, the less your knees will bend. Try to keep the movements controlled but you should find that the faster you go, the shaking will focus around your waist. People have told me they seem to lose the shimmy when they go to full speed, or that it’s hard for them to do. I promise it will come with practice.
