Today is Human Rights Day! It is celebrated annually across the world on December 10th every year. The date was chosen to honor the United Nations General Assembly's adoption and proclamation, on December 10, 1948, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the first global enunciation of human rights and one of the first major achievements of the new United Nations. We should remember our human rights every day, but on December 10th we should remember them a little bit more!

The United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organisation (UNESCO) is using the sociological concept of "cultural relativism" to promote World Human Rights Day (10th of December). This term describes that cultures should not be judged on one's own morality or cultural standards, but rather that all cultures should be understood in their local context. The UN is saying here that this does not extend to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
