Neuntage Alt rekrutierte sich aus den Kernfiguren Taymur Streng, René Glofke und Mike Sauer, allesamt Absolventen der harten Schule des DDR-Urpunk. Doch die Wurzeln von Neuntage Alt waren durchschlagenderer Art als stereotype Punk-Muster es sein konnten. Dem dystopischen Industrial von Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire oder Din-A-Testbild (aus dem nahen und doch fernen Westberlin), mengte Neuntage Alt den synthetischen Kühl-Pop von John Foxx oder Gary Numan bei.

Aus dieser Clique von Noise-Nerds mit Nokturnal-Neigung ging auch das Mahlsdorfer Wohnstuben Orchester (tt 012) oder L’Ambassadeur des Ombres (tt 015) hervor, es bestanden Kollaborationen und Verbindungen zu Ornament & Verbrechen oder AG Geige (tt 009, tt 018). Tape-Präziosen wie „Waif“, „Soldier“ (tt 006) oder „Human Form“ entstanden, die nun ihrer späten Entdeckung außerhalb ihrer einstigen Echokammer harren.
