  1. Resurrection: Panzer Dragoon Saga 20th Anniversary Arrangement
    by Saori Kobayashi
  2. Leviathan
    by Mastodon
    Hearts Alive Hearts Alive
There's just no topping Hearts Alive. It's one of the best metal songs ever written without question. The rest of the album is great too of course, but Hearts Alive stands alone as its own gargantuan journey of a song.
  3. Future Days
    by CAN
    Bel Air Bel Air
It's extremely rare for an album that came out over 50 years ago to still sound as fresh, original, and timeless as Future Days by Can. It's by far the most serene and easy-to-approach album of their classic period, and the band is still able to retain the spirit of musical creativity that makes them special. Maybe they chose the name Future Days because they knew that this album wouldn't age like a lot of other records do. Probably not, but hindsight shows that this is the case.
  4. This Nation's Saving Grace
    by The Fall
Mark E. Smith kept The Fall going for so many years, churning out great albums far more often than not. This Nation's Saving Grace is a great Fall LP to start with if you're new to the band, and it's a pleasure to revisit since it is one of their best records. There's a good reason that so many other musicians cite Mark as an influence; even if you don't care for his music, you can't deny the creativity, passion, and prolific output of material he showcased while he was alive. Cheers, and enjoy.

What an absolutely beautiful record! Perfect for late nights, early mornings, or any time that you need a little bit of serenity in the midst of a hectic day.
  7. Sex Packets

    Doowutchyalike Doowutchyalike
It's criminal how overlooked this album has become over time. There's such a sense of carefree fun throughout almost every minute of this album, which I feel is sorely lacking in the genre today. Every track is creatively written and exudes a type of personality that many people can easily relate to. This is one of the best albums from the golden age of hip hop, and it deserves to be remembered as such.
  8. Houdini Live 2005
    by Melvins
    Night-Goat Night-Goat
Pretty much all of the songs on this live version of Houdini are way better than the studio versions. This album's version of Night Goat in particular is one of the most crushing and amazing metal songs I've ever heard. If you're a fan of the Melvins you need this record in your collection.
  9. Evol
    by Sonic Youth
Expressway To Yr Skull Expressway To Yr Skull
Sonic Youth was on an unstoppable role throughout the 80's, releasing classic album after classic album. Unlike many of the more popular rock groups of the time, their music has not grown stale or outdated. Albums like Bad Moon Rising, Evol, Sister, and Daydream Nation continue to inspire underground musicians to this day, just like they did decades ago.

The punk rockers found granddad's free jazz record collection and decided to mix thoroughly until combined. Delicious recipe! Hearing these songs replicated live would certainly be impressive since the energy level on display throughout the record could probably power a few neighborhoods in California.

Hold On Magnolia Hold On Magnolia
This album man, what an emotional rollercoaster! Not many people can match Jason Molina's songwriting chops when it comes to making songs that are both catchy and emotionally poignant. He really was one in a million and on this album he found a backing band that was able to flesh out these songs and give them the grandiose scope they deserve. Give it a buy, listen carefully, and keep the memory of Mr. Molina alive.
