Michael P. Edman
Michael P. Edman was a candidate for an at-large seat on the South Washington County school board. He did not win a seat in the general election on November 5, 2013.
Biography
Michael Edman graduated from Fairmont High School and received his B.A. degree in political science and history from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities before earning his J.D. from the William Mitchell College of Law.[1][2] Edman is a practicing attorney with his own law firm that specializes in family and business law.[2] He serves on the Cottage Grove Public Works Commission and Charter Commission along with the Washington County Community Corrections Board.[3]

A district of this size, in a growing area, should not need to rely on so many, or such large, continuing operating levies. There appears to be a pattern or plan to come to the ballot for several smaller amount referendums to fund operations. When taken as a whole, however, these operating referendums comprise about 10% of our overall budget. I would prefer that we create long term budgeting forecast that moves us away from needing operating levies over the next 10 years. |
