Lyrics: Here we are we need to begin Our feet are in the earth Foraging the places within The memory of our birth Will we find a pathway through? Or a cloud to spoil the view? Actually we don’t know where we’re going We don’t know who we are Looking but there is no way of knowing The future is too far away Mourning all the world of our Home We find in disarray Ornaments of all we have known Are they no use today? Actually we don’t know where we’re going We don’t know who we are Looking but there is no way of knowing The future is so far away In the Shadow x 3 Where is the Calm? Maybe we are under a Spell Withholding disbelief Anything we show you or tell The honour of our Grief Come inside the day has gone In the night we hear this song Naturally we don’t know where we’re going But we know who we are today Opportunity is in the knowing (We're going down, down, down, down) Naturally we don’t know where we’re going But we know who we are today Opportunity is in the knowing (We're going down, down, down, down)

From the Shadowlands behind us Oh could this story light the way? Now it’s too late to rewind us There’s no returning; only seizing the day Inside in the time of Yearning Entanglements we suffered before (Something has been discarded) If we hide and the leaves keep turning Oh will the white elephant be holy once more? There is healing in a cycle Sweet disconnection from the line The revealing of the spiral Enlightenment by accident or design? Outside in the time of Churning The Elements have taken it all Black skies and the world is burning Oh will the white elephant be holy once more?

about

Fresh from Temple of Shibboleth comes In The Shadow (with ‘B-side’, White Elephant), the first waft of our forthcoming album of the same name.

Continuing our own unique blend of prog and jazz, the sound has been augmented with baritone sax and oboe and a touch of Drum and Bass!

The song delves into the shadow side of our self that we hide from as a species. In these daunting endtimes, we don’t know where we’re going and sometimes that is to be celebrated.

As musicians too, in these days of streaming, we are in the shadows of Spotify etc. Where a lot of the music we love was bankrolled by businessmen in the 70s taking a punt, we’re now reliant on the generosity of those who feel called to discover our musick amongst the plethora of algorithmic possibilities!

In the shadows, with the Earth as our guide, Temple of Shibboleth trust in the magickal wisdom of connecting with the land and each other and this album will be a call to that connection…
