St. Rose of Lima was born in 1586 in Lima, Peru. Originally named Isabel, as an infant her beauty was such that she was compared to a rose. St. Rose dedicated her life to taking care of the poor and sick. She sold flowers and needlework at market to help finance her family and give aid to the poor.
