Ashley Owens on Instagram: "One more bleach dyeing tutorial!! And this one was a little more special because it reminds me of my weaving roots. Here’s how to achieve this woven pattern: 1) Take a small block of wood and wrap your string around it in a haphazard way to create crisscrosses for a more intricate pattern or evenly across for a more even pattern. Tie the two ends together along the back of the block. 2) Make a 1:1 ratio of water and bleach and put it in a shallow plate. 3) Tap the block in the bleach mix just enough to get the string all covered in the bleach. Have a junk towel next to you so you can tap the block onto it and get off any excess bleach. My all favorite is my chisel tip brush though and you can find those in all sorts of sizes to fit any size project! NEW GARMENTS COMING OUT FRIDAY🦇 HOW TO GET STARTED BLEACH PAINTING: ✨I thought it was common sense but I’ll spell it out, use safety gear and stay the heck outside! ✨use just a little bit of bleach bc it is some nasty stuff, I suggest 1/2 teaspoon of water and 1/2 teaspoon of bleach. It’s a 1:1 ratio and I keep it in a glass jar with a lid ✨you can use chalk to draw your design ✨separate your fabric layers during painting.
