Bird House
First, I throw the round body on the wheel with a speckled brown stoneware clay. Once it starts to dry I cut out the opening hole & put some drainage holes on the bottom. Next, I add the roof, using a rhododendron flower for inspiration. I also have fairy houses in this same style. This bird house has a Jungle Moon glaze on the roof and the bottom is left unglazed. It measures 5” tall and 3.75” wide. The doorway is a 1.25” wide which is preferred by wrens, nuthatches, small woodpeckers…
Made with low fire “B” clay, bisqued and painted with stroke-n-coat paints. Then given a clear coat of glaze and fired. Don’t forget a hole for a perch, and a drain hole in the bottom for cleaning! Made by Brigitt Martin in March 2023.
