Kodiak bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi) threat display. Standing fully upright, a large male could reach a height of 3 m (10 ft). The Kodiak is a subspecies of brown bear that lives exclusively in Alaska on islands in the Kodiak Archipelago: Kodiak, Afongnak and Shuak. They’ve been isolated from other bears for about 12,000 years.
