These legends, along with other Slavic folklore, were with me since my childhood in Russia. Obviously, the fern doesn’t have flowers, and people knew about that — but it doesn’t interfere with the idea of its magical flower, as well as of other legendary herbs I mention here… So, my magic is also deeply irrational. My background is searching for the fern flower even knowing that it doesn’t exist… and still, for me, it does. ✍🏼 True magic (to try my favorite magical practice) With love for... These Slavic gods and goddesses most likely never existed. They were either a misinterpretation of really existing traditions, or different kinds of translation mistakes. And sometimes—little more than wishful thinking and fiction. However, these are nice concepts, so I decided to visualize them even though they aren’t actual deities. Of course, this isn’t an exhaustive list. There are more, and also some of the Slavic deities are somewhat in the gray area: there are authentic sources about... Brief explanation of Veles. God Of Earth, Bear Dragon, Slavic Tattoo, Slavic Goddess, Slavic Paganism, Chaos Magick, Horned God, Dnd World Map, Magick Symbols

Veles is a perfect representation of how the Slavic people saw their gods: morally ambiguous, complex, and an integral part of the world around them. Veles is a god of the Earth and the Underground, as well as a god of cattle, music, magic, wealth, harvest, trickery, the willow tree, forests, wildfires, and even poetry. Veles’ symbols include willow, snake, wolf, bear, dragon, and owl. #earth #underground #god #slavic #symbolsage

Some Slavic neo pagans celebrate Veles’ Night on October 31 (kinda, instead of Halloween). I am not really convinced it is historically correct, but still—isn’t this a nice occasion to make a deeper dive into my favorite Slavic god? (In fact, just my favorite god) 🙋🏻‍♀️ What Slavic goddess or god should I post about next? 📚 Find more posts on Slavic culture, mythology and traditions in my ‘Slavic folklore’ highlights With love for all magical beings, Lida @lidapavlova_magic Slavic Mythology Polish, Polish Witchcraft, Veles Slavic God, Native Folklore, Slavic Magic, Veles God, What Is Paganism, Slavic Witchcraft, The Quiet Place
