They are herd #animals and most are domesticated, prized over thousands of years for their meat and milk and as common #beasts of burden at high altitude. Yaks have a dense woolly #undercoat over the chest, flanks and thighs to insulate them from the cold. They range in #color from dark blacks to solid creams, such as the yak pictured here.
