Eckart Voigts is professor of English literature and cultural studies at TU Braunschweig, Germany.
Voigts has published widely on contemporary British theatre and the British theatre avant-garde. He was President of the German Society for Contemporary Theatre and Drama in English (2010-2016) and co-founded JCDE, a new journal on contemporary British drama, serving as co-editor from 2013 to 2016. He has written, edited and co-edited numerous books and articles, predominantly on theatre/drama, intermediality, adaptation, neo-Victorianism, such as Introduction to Media Studies (2004), Janespotting and Beyond: British Heritage Retrovisions since the Mid-1990s (2005), Adaptations: Performing across Media and Genres (2009), Reflecting on Darwin (2014), and Dystopia, Science Fiction, Post-Apocalypse (2015).
Since 2016 he has been working with Jeanette Malkin (Hebrew University, Jerusalem) on the joint research project “Hyphenated Cultures: Contemporary British Jewish Theatre” funded by German Lower Saxony-Israel Joint Research Project funds (Niedersächsisches Vorab) of the Volkswagen Stiftung.
