This 1941 Dodge WC-12 is a 1/2-ton pickup that is said to have previously been used by the US Navy before being acquired in 2009 by the seller’s late brother, who began a subsequent rebuild and modification process that was completed in 2015. Work during that time reportedly included extending the frame, repainting the body, and installing a 5.9L Cummins turbodiesel inline-six, a Getrag G56 six-speed manual transmission, an NP271 dual-range transfer case, and upgraded axles with 4.56:1 Truetrac differentials. Additional equipment includes power-assisted steering, four-wheel disc brakes with Hydroboost, a Smittybilt front winch, a Sony AM/FM CD stereo, Warn locking front hubs, a rear pintle hitch and ball hitch, and 17” wheels with 37” BFGoodrich tires. The power steering pump and fluid are said to have been replaced in January 2023. This WC-12 is being offered by the seller on behalf of their late brother’s widow with a clean California title.
The truck reportedly underwent rust repairs on the front fenders, cab, doors, floors, and firewall and was fitted with a replacement tailgate, rear fenders, running boards, and bed panels during the build. The seller states that the frame was extended by approximately 6″, the cab was set back to accommodate the powertrain, the hood was re-fabricated, and the body received a repaint in drab green that was applied by hand with a brush. Exterior equipment includes a Smittybilt front winch, a rear pintle hitch and ball hitch, a louvered hood, dual jerrycan holders, and grab rails on both sides of the cab. The seller notes that the driver’s door does not latch completely and the driver’s side-view mirror is loose.
Body-color 17” wheels are mounted with 37” BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO tires, and a matching spare is found in the bed. The truck features Warn locking front hubs and power steering, and upgraded leaf springs and shock absorbers are said to have been installed during the build. Braking is through hydraulically-boosted discs at all four corners, and work in January 2023 reportedly included replacement of the power steering pump and fluid.
The cabin houses a bench seat trimmed in brown vinyl with darker brown piping along with color-coordinated door panels. Brown square-weave carpets line the floors, and amenities include an E-Stopp emergency brake, a heater, electric windows, shoulder belts, toggle switches for vehicle functions, and a Sony AM/FM CD stereo wired to Kenwood speakers in the doors.
An aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a beige-painted metal dashboard housing a Westach 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary displays. The digital odometer indicates approximately 100 miles, though it is inoperable. Total mileage is unknown.
The 5.9L Cummins inline-six reportedly dates to 1997 and is said to have been rebuilt prior to its installation during the build. Features include an aluminum radiator and dual 12-volt Odyssey batteries with terminals mounted in the front bumper. A fluid leak is reported by the seller.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a Getrag G56 six-speed manual transmission and an NP271 dual-range transfer case. A parts receipt in the gallery indicates that a Dana 60 front and GM rear axle were installed with 4.56:1 Truetrac limited-slip differentials at both ends. Additional underbody images are provided in the gallery below.
