This MGB GT was first converted for racing duty in 1993 and is equipped with a modified 1.9 liter four-cylinder and close-ratio 4-speed gearbox with straight-cut Jack Knight gears. Installed safety items include a full roll cage, racing seats and belts, and a Halon fire-suppression system. It has been with the seller for 14 years and was last raced at Watkins Glen in 2008. It is also said to be legal for SVRA, HSR, and VSCDA competition. In preparation for rally participation, it was registered for street use in 2015 and equipped with functional lights, wipers, street tires, and an exhaust silencer. Two extra sets of wire wheels and tires, a set of twin SU carbs, and some small service items are included.  This MGB GT is consigned with the selling dealer and sold with a clear Illinois title, VSCDA competition logbook, and records dating to 2003.
Last raced in 2008, the car was registered for street use in 2015 and was last driven 50 miles to the seller’s showroom in November 2016. The paint scheme is an homage to MG’s factory cars, most notably those raced at Sebring in the late 1960’s. Bumpers and side markers have been deleted and functional brake cooling ducts can be seen in the front fascia. A bulged aluminum MGC hood has been sourced, and the cabin glass has been replaced with Lexan.
Interior racing modifications include larger gauges, racing pedals, and a quick-release steering wheel. The 6,500 miles on the odometer do not reflect actual mileage. Brake bias is adjustable from the cockpit. A fire-suppression system and spare street tire are mounted behind the seats.
Red vinyl racing buckets are equipped with a 5-point harness for the driver and lap belt on the passenger side. The roll cage extends protection around the sides of the cockpit.
The race-prepped 1.9 liter MG four-cylinder is said to be approved for competition in SVRA, HSR, and VSCDA racing. The build sheet found in the gallery includes the following details.
- Moldex forged crank shaft
- Titanium Carrillo connecting rods
- George Bachman flowed head
- Hourglass Motorsport camshaft
- Titon rockers
- Headley racing header
- TWMÂ ported intake manifold
- Weber 45 DCOEÂ carburetor with 40mm choke
- Illumination ignition
- Howe aluminum radiator with electric fan.
- Accusump Pre-Oiler
Compression check results are noted in the build sheet and show 190-193psi across all cylinders. The engine is mated to a stock MG 4-speed gearbox that has been rebuilt with a Titon clutch and a set of straight-cut close-ratio Jack Knight gears. The solid rear axle houses a limited-slip differential.
Front suspension modifications include 1 inch adjustable sway bar and performance springs.
