This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible was refurbished under prior ownership with work that included a repaint in Black Cherry with white stripes. Power is provided by a 454ci V8 paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, and the car has been modified with an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, an HEI distributor, a 3″ dual exhaust system, and U.S. Mags alloy wheels. The current owner purchased the car in 2023, and subsequent work has included an engine reseal, an ignition tune-up, a carburetor rebuild, fluids services, replacement of the fuel filter, accessory belts, and tires, and conversion of the air conditioning system to use R134a refrigerant. This Chevelle Malibu convertible is now offered on dealer consignment with recent service records, a removed set of wheels and tires, and a clean Arizona title.
The body has been refinished in Black Cherry with white stripes and features a powered white soft top, a cowl induction hood, hideaway wipers, and SS badging. The power top hydraulics were repaired and the rear fender lips were rolled in 2024.
U.S. Mags alloy wheels measure 17″ up front and 18″ out back, and they are wrapped in 255/50 and 295/40 Nitto NT555 tires with 2023 date codes, respectively. Power steering is equipped, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The power brake booster and master cylinder were replaced in August 2024.
The front bucket and rear bench seats are upholstered in Ivory vinyl, and interior appointments include a center console, an AM/FM radio, a Hurst shifter, power windows, and power locks. The air conditioning system was converted to use R134a refrigerant and serviced in August 2024.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock in addition to readouts for amperage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 89k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. Stewart-Warner gauges for water temperature and oil pressure are mounted below the radio.
The 454ci V8 is topped with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and a Holley carburetor that was rebuilt in 2024. The engine was also resealed in 2024, and additional service under current ownership has included installing an HEI distributor and replacing the coolant overflow tank, fuel filter, and spark plugs and wires. Compression test results are pictured in the gallery below.
Coated headers feed into a 3″ dual exhaust system that was installed in 2024, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission.
