This 1972 Datsun 240Z is said to have been used as a track car before being refurbished in 2009 as a Brock Racing Enterprises (BRE) tribute vehicle. Work at that time involved a repaint in a red, white, and blue livery, as well as installation of weld-in front strut tower braces. Power is provided by a replacement 3.1L L28 stroker inline-six that was rebuilt in 2014 with an F54 block, an E31 cylinder head, a COMP Cams camshaft, forged pistons, triple Weber carburetors, a Cannon intake manifold, and a six-into-one exhaust header. Additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, 15″ König wheels, aftermarket sway bars, a front air dam, and a rear spoiler as well as a Sabelt fixed-back racing seat, a four-point harness, and a roll bar. Acquired by the current owner in 2020, this 240Z is now offered on dealer consignment with a BRE tribute certificate, service records, and a Texas title.
The car is said to have been previously finished in red and was repainted in it’s current red, white, and blue BRE tribute livery by Z-Fever of Tampa, Florida, as part of the aforementioned 2009 refurbishment. A rear-view mirror is equipped on the driver’s side, and further exterior details include a front air dam, a rear spoiler, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The selling dealer notes rust along the A-pillar on the driver’s side, and pitting is visible on the bumpers.
Silver-finished 15″ König wheels are mounted with 205/60 Toyo Proxes R888R tires. Strut tower braces have been welded in place up front, and the car is equipped with aftermarket sway bars. The steering rack was replaced in 2019.
A Sabelt fixed-back racing seat with a four-point harness is equipped for the driver, while a factory bucket seat is retained on the passenger’s side. A bolt-in roll bar is fitted out back, and additional interior details include a wood shift knob, a heater, and Z-branded floor mats.
An aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 63k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement L28 inline-six was previously modified to displace 3.1L using a stroker kit. The engine was reinstalled in 2014 following a rebuild by Z-Fever that included hot tanking, overboring, and decking a replacement F54 block as well as polishing the crankshaft, balancing the rotating assembly, and installing the following parts and components:
- Rebuilt E31 cylinder head
- COMP Cams camshaft
- Cometic head gasket
- ARP head studs
- Forged pistons
- Replacement rod bearings
- Cannon intake manifold
- Triple Weber carburetors
- Uni air filters
- 280ZX electronic distributor
An oil change was last completed in 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. A replacement exhaust system with a six-into-one tubular header and a Magnaflow muffler has been fitted.
A BRE Tribute certificate denoting this car with Tribute #09025240Z46001 is included in the sale.
The Texas title carries a “Not Actual Mileage” brand.
