This 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe is one of 395 imported to the US for the model year, and it was acquired in the early 1980s by the prior owner, who used the car in PCA autocross events and for long-distance driving around the US before an HVAC blower motor fire in 1993. It was then stored in a carport for the next three decades before being acquired by the selling dealer in 2023 and subsequently overhauled as part of the 2024 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge. Finished in Aubergine over Russet upholstery, the car is powered by a 2.7-liter flat-six mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels, fog lights, body-color bumpers, a rear whale-tail spoiler, front bucket seats, power windows, air conditioning, and a heated rear window. This mid-year 911 is now offered as part of the Harper Porsche collection at no reserve with restoration photos and records and a clean Tennessee title.
The car was finished from the factory in Aubergine (025) and was stripped to bare metal, mounted to a rotisserie, and repainted by Classic Livery of Atlanta in Canton, Georgia, following rust repairs, replacement of the passenger-side fender, and chassis straightening. Replacement US-spec sealed-beam headlights with body-color trim rings were installed, along with black anodized front, rear, and quarter window locking strips and door window frames. The whale-tail rear spoiler was also stripped, repainted, and resealed. The selling dealer notes fish eyes in the paint and a ding on the top of the right side headlight trim.
Replacement 15″ Fuchs forged alloy wheels with black centers were mounted with 185/70 front and 215/60 rear Pirelli CN36 tires. A space-saver spare is stored in the front trunk. ATE brake calipers and replacement pads and rotors were installed during the work, and the suspension and steering systems were rebuilt, including the installation of Bilstein sport shocks.
The interior was reupholstered by Sonderwerks of Cornelius, North Carolina, and Russet upholstery covers the front bucket seats, folding rear seats, and side panels. Appointments include power windows, opening rear-quarter windows, an analog clock, air conditioning, and a heated rear window. The air conditioning system was overhauled during the restoration, including the installation of a replacement compressor and ducting.
The leather-covered three-spoke steering wheel was re-dyed and resealed, and it sits ahead of VDO instrumentation that consists of a 150-mph speedometer, a centrally mounted tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 87k miles, approximately 50 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.7-liter flat-six features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, which received a top-end rebuild during the restoration, including the installation of hydraulic timing chain tensioners and replacement valve springs, guides, seats, and rockers. The Mahle cylinders were honed and the piston rings replaced, while the CIS fuel injection system was rebuilt and tuned along with the ignition system. Kroon wiring harnesses were also installed. The five-speed manual transaxle was refreshed, the linkage rebuilt, and the driveshafts and axles replaced.
Photos from various stages of the restoration are provided in the gallery.
