This 1977 Yamaha TT500 was acquired out of Arkansas in 2024 by the seller, who proceeded to carry out a refurbishment that involved refinishing the frame and engine case, overhauling the 499cc OHC four-stroke single, and rebuilding the Mikuni carburetor, front fork, wheel hubs, and more as detailed below. The bike is finished in orange with polished aluminum accent panels on its fuel tank and features oil-in-frame construction, CD ignition, and preload-adjustable shocks. Additional equipment includes a five-speed transmission, a black vinyl seat, an aluminum skid plate, a side stand, a cross-braced handlebar, and 21″ and 18″ wire-spoke wheels. This TT500 is now offered at no reserve in Louisiana for off-road use only with a bill of sale.
The bike was disassembled as part of the aforementioned refurbishment to facilitate repainting the frame and related components in black semi-gloss. Upon reassembly, a reproduction rear fender and front number plate as well as replacement number-plate decals were installed. An oil reservoir is incorporated with the top frame tube, and the bike is further equipped with a black vinyl seat, an aluminum skid plate, spring-loaded serrated foot pegs, and a side stand. Photos provided in the gallery show the condition of the clearcoat and paint on the 2.2-gallon fuel tank.
Wire-spoke wheels measuring 21″ up front and 18″ out back were fitted with replacement stainless-steel spokes as part of the refurbishment. Pirelli Scorpion XC knobby tires are mounted at both ends. Suspension consists of a conventional telescopic fork in addition to a pair of preload-adjustable shocks mounted to the swingarm. Braking is handled by front and rear drums. Further work in 2024 involved refinishing the wheel hubs and replacing the fork seals and gaiters along with the steering stem and wheel bearings.
The cross-braced handlebar is equipped with an ignition cutoff switch, a clutch lever, and a compression-release lever on the left as well as a twist-grip throttle and a front brake lever on the right. The control cables and grips were replaced as part of the refurbishment. The bike is not equipped with an odometer or other instrumentation, therefore true mileage is unknown.
The air-cooled 499cc OHC four-stroke single received an overhaul as part of the 2024 refurbishment. Work involved fitting a Wiseco 87.50mm piston, inspecting the crankshaft, installing a CD ignition module, rebuilding the 34mm Mikuni carburetor, refinishing the engine case, and replacing various hardware and seals. The seller notes that approximately five hours of engine run time have been added since the work was completed.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission and a drive chain.
The motorcycle does not have a title or registration. It is being sold on a bill of sale for off-road use only.
