There's been lots of positive forecasting for the economy this year and a boom looks increasingly likely, but this stat is astonishing: productivity grew more in the last year than in the previous seven combined, and with unemployment rising, a tepid labour market, and lots of organisational churn.

I think it'd genuinely be worth considering having the decant location be outside London. Perhaps Birmingham, Britain's second city, or York or Manchester or somewhere up north would be a good idea.
I'd think even a new building might be warranted, and maybe rotating Parliament's location every two Parliaments might be a good idea.
Successive governments have kept pushing this back, but sooner or later someone's going to have to bite the bullet and spend it if Westminster is to continue to be the home of Parliament.

Fwiw, I'm generally always in favour of the House's power over the executive's, and Committees are how Parliament does its best work, and using Committees in this way is absolutely fine by me — even knowing Tories sit on them.
That may change as Reform's presence in the House and on Committees grows, but here and now I'd call this the optimal outcome.
Plus introducing primary legislation to strip his title and having the King expel him from the Privy Council right off the bat are very good. Archer kept his title, but getting out fast with Mandelson and not even waiting for charges to fall demonstrates, I think, that the Humble Address documents are going to be utterly damning for Mandelson — if the Epstein emails weren't enough.
I just love that Gordon Brown came out so strongly against his perpetual frenemy too.
I've been otherwise occupied so tragically have missed most of the debate and will miss the vote, but I did catch PMQs. Starmer had a rough time, but I think his statements on how Mandelson has betrayed his country and his party were very good, and outright stating that he lied repeatedly and will publish all materials from his vetting for ambassador to demonstrate so is good.
I think he survives. McSweeney though, and probably some others, are toast.
Days like this are like Christmas for me as political pervert, even when it's my party in the firing line.
This one feels similar to Jeffrey Archer, though far worse. Mandelson has likely committed tons of crimes at the height of government, some of which look awfully like frigging treason.
Some of the politics around it look ugly to me though, particularly around the scope of the Humble Address. Some things should remain confidential, like this.

The Epstein files raise questions about UK national security and we are only "at
the tip of the iceberg” of the story, says Labour peer Baroness Hazarika.
"What did Jeffrey Epstein want back for this?” she told Sky News' Gareth Barlow,
referring to what she said was Epstein's ability to offer ‘powerful’ people what
they wanted.
"We haven't got to the bottom of all of these emails, because the American
authorities will not release them all, and they should be fully released because
