Okay, imma need some help with my social skills. What's the best way to confront potential misuse of AI in a way that doesn't completely obliterate any and all goodwill on both sides?
Namely: I don't want to confront people if they need it for accessibility purposes and I don't want to individualise what is essentially a systemic issue.
But I also don't want to deal with workslop and I don't want to join an organisation thinking we align ethically if they then try to push the tech.
So, how can I constructively manage the irritation I feel when I come across the latter cases?
I am looking for recommendations; which is the current go-to for offline disk imaging for Windows PCs? Like, boot from external media, backup the entire disk, restore if needed?
Ghost has been subsumed by Broadcom, Acronis True Image presents itself as a consumer backup solution, the Veeam agent might still work, but is now part of a platform with 'AI Powered Protection', and seems to require a license?
And then there's Clonezilla, which may also fit the bill in its 'Clonezilla Live' incarnation.
Does anyone have recent, practical experience with any of these?

i asked this on my old account and thought i might ask again in these current times: has anyone started an outwardly, unapologetically socialist/anarchist/antifascist civil rights org yet? i'm not talking groups like DSA or collectives like crimethinc., even though they do good work i'm specifically asking for "ACLU if they leaned further left." an org you can get emails from that at the very least lets you sign petitions, send emails, and make calls to your local representatives. one that supports palestinian rights, the abolishment of ICE, trans and nonbinary rights, etc. there's a group i used to be with that fits that description, but they support crypto now i know there are gonna be folks out there who are like "why depend on congress if you can organize with regular folk?" simply put, i don't do well in groups (introverted and autistic). i've found something that works, and i'll evolve at my own pace whenever i'm ready

Ok, so I have this HP-server in my garage that I've had for years.
I decided to plug it in, add drives and connect the iLO port.
Ofcourse, I have forgotten the iLO password - and I dont have a monitor that I can use to reset it via the BIOS.
I do remember this vulnerability from a couple of years ago, that where I could get the password (or change it) for the Administrator user with a curl post request.
But I can't find it.

I'm in a bit of a conundrum and would appreciate any suggestions on pain relief medications. Reference point: I'm in the USA.
I cannot use NSAIDs for a year post-spine fusion surgery (and they do nothing for me, anyway). I'm allowed to use Tylenol, but it does nothing either. I was prescribed Celebrex (celecoxib) but all it did was give migraine-like headaches and fatigue without any pain relief.
Is there anything else out there? My doctors are running out of ideas.

I'm trying to move from blog.example.com (old) to example.com/blog (new).
I have a redirect set up on the subdomain to point at the new URL and that works fine. The problem I'm running into is old shared links include a trailing slash which leads to a 404. I threw a rewrite in nginx to remove the slash before sending to the application and it causes a redirect loop. I'm not sure how to do this correctly.

nginx config snipped for the root location. A rewrite rule, ^(.+)/+$ $1, is commented out because it causes a redirect loop. The rest of the block sends the request to the application server.
I’ve seen blanket statements like “healthy” and “safe” used to describe #Mastodon #Fediverse healthy for whom? Safe for whom? There’s plenty of folks that would state how it was either for them or people they know.

So I have a server at home running a whole bunch of services in rootless #Docker containers, all behind a reverse proxy (Caddy). Any idea why switching the networking mode from slirp4netns to pasta would *completely* break networking? As soon as I bring the Docker service back up, every service on the machine becomes inaccessible--even trying to curl localhost gets "connection refused"--and the systemd journal gets flooded with these, about ten every second.

Has anyone got Fastmail's CalDAV set up to correctly sync *tasks* between Reminders on iPhone and Thunderbird on PC?
I say "correctly" sync because I've got both apps showing the task list, but marking a task as completed in Thunderbird does not sync to Reminders.
It works weird the other way around too (i.e. Reminders to Thunderbird). Thunderbird shows the task completed but creates a duplicate task. 🤷

Spain, France and the UK are considering following Australia in banning under-16s from using "social media". To put it differently, it means all social media users are required to prove their identity and age.
How do they define "social media"? All discussion I have seen so far has been really vague, and basically assumed that American tech giants and social media are the same thing.
Depending on their definition, this onerous requirement could destroy the Fediverse.
How has this affected Australian users and Fedi instances so far?
I found a really nice co-working space near me. It's 29€ for a single day or 250€ for an entire month of access. Coffee and water are free. I have never done co-working before so I can't compare.

I love the Mona app, and I had no problem paying a hefty one-time price for the app on iOS and macOS when it first came out of beta. I like buying software, not renting it.
Several really annoying bugs did not appear until after the dev had released a new app, also called Mona but with an all the fixes and improvements. Not a new version. A new app. His response is, well, you can keep using the old app as long as you want, but if you want the fixes, you’ll have to pay me again.
Sure, it’s his app. He can choose to charge for it however he likes. I, however, feel like I was tricked back when I paid what I thought was a one-time fee.
So, I am back on the search for an iOS mastodon app as good as Mona that doesn’t have a recurring fee.
Any suggestions?

I've noticed lately that when viewing a profile from a Mastodon instance, their post history tends to be incomplete or otherwise missing. Any posts that are made recently tend to have a significant delay or don't show up on their profile at all.
I know that you can view the content from the remote instance in question for a complete profile, that you need to do so however does seem to be a failing on the part of the server software to properly federate and populate posts.

Edit: I think I should add more detail. Many people in real life like to do many different activities, and it's hard to remember who likes what. So the spreadsheet (?) would be who wants to get invited to which activities. Friends would need to be able to select the activities that interest them and see who else said yes. I assume more people will want to use the spreadsheet if it doesn't involve signing up for a new account or downloading a new program.

I would like a projector. I want to paint a mural on two doors. The idea is to design them on my iPad, project them, then paint the doors.

Dear fediverse can you find me the most decent book explaining what capitalism actually is?
