Simplistic style sepia toned fantasy map with thick land borders, simple two line frame around it, finely lined coastline markings, simplistic black and red compass to the right bottom corner, and custom monsters in the water (a giant turtle, and a ocean cow). The continents consists of specific set of 5 larger islands, and 5 smaller islands fully inspired by ones that reside in Finland. On the islands are locations marked with red ink, each specific to the client's inside jokes with his lovely wife. The city is circular itself, and is divided to two by a large miandering river. The city has tall walls, and two gates at each end. Outside of the city are places for cattle, many fields for different grains to each side, and at the very top fruit groves, olive grove, and vineyards.
Inside the city are many, very detailed buildings from a semi-top view. There are quild houses for grocers, alchemists, and a like, shops, taverns, poor district, a bath house, elevated district for the rich folk, and many little details spotting the scene. A mill can be seen, a holy pear tree, mail house with tiny little pidgeon holds, storage area with places for grain and other goods, stables, and main roads splitting these different areas clean sections. This map has a heavy, drark filigree edge with many, many tiny swirling details that hug the map, and hold a star compass to the bottom right, and a large flowing banner to the upper left. The banner reads "Serentyn". The map depicts a coastal peninsula type of typography cut to the upper right by large mountain range. A barren waste disappears to the unknown past the mountains. The landscape is dotted by four lakes, one which has a waterfall cascading into its debths. Only one city is detailed on the map, while other locations are noted with stars and titles. a lovely-to-hold little raku ceramic sculpture of a stylised mole friend. a bit like a large raindrop with a pointy nose? it's glazed in a bottom-to-top gradient of purple to warm brown and has a kind, gentle face. it's sitting on a piece of chestnut wood with grey muslin and natural linen behind. next to it on the left are some lavender flowers and some flowering marjoram: tiny pink-white flowers and pale yellow-green leaves.

It’s hot as hell on the island today, so I’m content to just chill inside today and stay cool while listening to music.
A warm, spacious and atmospheric #jazz record between two masterful improvisers.
In the case of Yamashita, this is far more mellow and refined than his previously intense and raw works. It’s quite reflective and intimate sounding, and perfect for a day like today.
I think that even people who don’t appreciate jazz at all can throw this on and appreciate how rich and great it sounds.

Morpheus was a Greek god associated with sleep and dreams. One of the thousand sons of Somnus (Sleep), his job was to appear in dreams in human form. Ovid stated, "No other is more skilled than he at representing the gait, the features and the speech of men; the clothing also and the accustomed words of each he represents." Like other gods of sleep, he was depicted as being winged. Re: the "cats are nice" Discworld quote. One of my favourite ongoing themes from the books is Death's affectionate relationship with cats.
I think it's deeply representative of Pratchett's talent. Apart from his trademark caustic humour, he managed to make the embodiment of the Grim Reaper a complex, sympathetic, even arguably kind character. Death is someone who genuinely cares about people, carries a fierce sense of justice, experiences loneliness, and ultimately forms a deeply caring bond with cats.
This has always been one of my favourite officially licensed Discworld illustrations by Boris Sokolovsky, which I think depicts that angle of Death perfectly.

"Lady with a Bowl of Violets," Lilla Cabot Perry, c. 1910.
Lydia Cabot (1848-1933) was born into a Boston society family, and in her youth spent time with Ralph Waldo Emerson and Louisa May Alcott, both family friends. Her family were passionate abolitionists during the Civil War and worked to protect runaway slaves.
After the war, she married linguist and academic Thomas Sergeant Perry, and then began her artistic training at the age of 36. She became a protegee of Claude Monet and friend of Camille Pissarro, and established herself as an American Impressionist.
Although she never had the fame other Impressionists had, she formulated her own version of it and helped stir up the staid Boston art community. Several years' residence in Japan, when her husband was teaching at a university there, also influenced her. She started going by her nickname, Lilla.
Here we have an unknown young woman, sitting serenely in a rich setting. We have part of a Japanese print and the bowl of violets present but carefully cropped off, a very Japanese choice. It's a lovely, serene picture, typical of her work.
