*Whether or not you're looking for a Covid Safe Date, please share this post. Because it's super difficult for people who avoid Covid to find love online.*
Covid Safe Date is now a feature full online dating website for adults of all genders and sexual orientations around the world who take #Covid avoidance seriously.
We have a few dozen members already, join us!
You may have Long Covid or you may be Novid.
You may have been engaging in consistent Covid safety practices since 2020, or you may have just started properly avoiding Covid recently.
You may have a shitty job that forces you to be maskless in order to stay employed. You may share a household with people who don't avoid the plague like the plague.
But as much as possible, you wear a respirator mask in public. People thinking you look weird or peer pressure isn't enough to make you go maskless. You would only risk another infection with a possibly permanently destructive virus if you feared losing your income, or feared violence, or had to get a medical procedure where you couldn't be masked the whole time.
You absolutely would never go inside a restaurant to eat ever again. Restaurant food can be takeout or delivery. Food can be cooked at home.
Whether you've been infected several times or never, you know the best course of action is to avoid as many infections in the future as possible because the harm is cumulative.
Whether or not you keep vaxxed, you understand that the vaccine doesn't stop infection, you still must wear a respirator mask.
You understand the importance of good indoor ventilation and filtering, but you know a public place with a good air quality rating doesn't mean it's safe to take your respirator mask off. You know people get infected outdoors too if they're very close to other people.
When I tell you that Dr. Hoerger's data shows there's more Covid spreading now than at any point in 2020, you're saddened but you're not shocked. You know Covid is far from over.
And if this applies to you and you actually avoid the plague like the plague, chances are dating websites will be hostile to you if you mention Covid safety.
People have anecdotally had a hard time finding romance on CovidMeetups, because it's not really a dating website but a better place to meet friends or find dentists.
That's why Covid Safe Date exists. It may be the only dedicated part of the internet specifically for Covid avoiders to date and possibly fall in love.
Our services will always be 100% free-of-charge. There's no "premium" tier, all features are available to all users.
And for that reason, Covid Safe Date needs donations from people who can afford to do so, so I can keep paying for web hosting and paying my developers who have Long Covid and are struggling generously for their labor.
https://covidsafedate.com/we-need-your-financial-support/
I'm also the founder of Stop Gen AI, so you'd better believe that there is absolutely zero AI on Covid Safe Date. Our web platform and service is completely human crafted and maintained.
We are a space that's LGBTQIA+, neurodivergence, disability, and poverty inclusive.
And I'm a cybersecurity specialist who takes responsibility for your cybersecurity and privacy seriously.

Here are screenshots from the newly relaunched Covid Safe Date. You can see my profile, I'm looking for love too!

Scientific American: COVID probably killed 150,000 more people in its first two years than official U.S. tolls show
We have severely undercounted the number of COVID deaths, scientists say (March 18, 2026)
Hi, these are the weekly #washingtonstate #kingcounty (that is, #seattle and environs) #COVID #COVID19 #wastewater toots. A quick reminder that this King County respiratory disease data comes from Washington State, not the federal government.
The West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant's 7 day running average of its detected Sars-CoV-2 levels is low. The last calculation was made on 3/10. Note: the wastewater numbers for the three King County sites didn't get updated last week, but it looks like they have been backfilled now.
WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. You can find overviews, individual sewershed results, and a breakdown of variants for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations for Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses, at https://doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistical-reports/diseases-and-chronic-conditions/communicable-disease-surveillance-data/respiratory-illness-data-dashboard#WasteWater. If you go to the page and click "learn more" in the statewide view tab, you can find out lots of details about how these data are calculated and how to interpret them. The dashboard gets updated every Wednesday (generally). The Department of Health is here on the fediweb, at @WADeptHealth

Interesting and concerning #COVID19 study. It suggests an important and accumulating shift in COVID dangers without specifically forecasting impact.
"Five years after the emergence of SARS-CoV-2, converging clinical evidence reveals a progressive compound immunodeficiency affecting a substantial and growing proportion of the global population... The cross-pathogen pattern further supports a shared immunological driver operating at population scale."

We may be entering our true Spring #COVID19 lull in the US. The positive rate of testing is lower today than it's been since December.
The positive rate of testing didn't spike all that much over winter, rising from 1.9% to 2.9%. Now, we're down to 2.3%. That 1.9% rate is the lowest we've hit in a year, and I'm curious if we might not drop beneath that before April.
1/2
For years, our surges have gotten lower. Could COVID be on its way to finally become a more predicable and endemic virus? I'll stay cautious, given Long COVID risks, but it would be nice to see infection risks continue to drop, wouldn't it?
Signs point to continued lower levels of surges--until and unless our low vaccination rate OR a significant COVID mutation causes a greater surge. 2026 will be an interesting bellwether year for #COVID19, I think.
Even one COVID infection can have lasting impacts on the heart, brain, and blood vessels. Prevention is long-term health care.

Just in case you forgot - SARS-CoV-2 dramatically alters cells. Not embellishment, but the words of the researchers:
SARS-CoV-2 infection induces global alterations of the host endomembrane system, including dramatic Golgi fragmentation
The virus shatters and scatters critical cellular pieces - this time my words. Them:
In contrast to the well-organized ribbon-like structure in uninfected cells, as labeled by the Golgi protein GRASP65, the Golgi was seen as small fragments dispersed in the entire cytoplasm in infected cells

The ability to use syncytia to spread is not unique but I feel it's pretty up there in importance, because it means the evolutionary landscape includes pockets where that's the main within-host mechanism, and (if I understand right) it exposes less antigen to the immune system.
Also it's ACE2-indepdendant.
TMEM106B is a functional receptor for SARS-CoV-2 across multiple Omicron variants to support both virus entry and syncytia formation, particularly in ACE2-low expressing cell https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jmv.70439
(if any nerds want it, https://www.mdpi.com/1999-4915/17/11/1405 is an excellent overview of synctia in SARS2 and https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0326419 reviewed some genes which "mediate ACE2-independent entry of SARS-CoV-2")
I suspect far too few people know just how prevalent #Covid19 is at present, especially in #NZ

Please, if you haven’t had a booster, get one; if you are ill, stay home; mask up, sick or not. Elana | אילנה boostedMillions of people around the world are living with the lasting impacts of Long COVID — a growing public health crisis that continues long after the initial infection.
Long COVID can affect the brain, heart, lungs, immune system, and more, making it harder for people to work, study, care for families, and participate fully in daily life.
This Long COVID Awareness Month, we must bring visibility to the millions of people affected and accelerate research, prevention, and support.
Newborns are not vaccinated and have no prior infections that might protect them. A STUDY compared infants with #COVID19 versus RSV and found "Children with SARS-CoV-2 were more likely to require invasive mechanical ventilation, receive vasoactive infusions, and die compared to RSV with and without SARS-CoV-2." In this study of 1,406 children infected with COVID, RSV, or both, 8 children died: three (2.9%) with COVID and five (0.4%) with RSV.

COVID is not “just a cold.” Even mild or asymptomatic infections can cause lasting health effects, damaging blood vessels and organs, affecting the brain, and weakening the immune system. Reduce possible harm by avoiding infection and reinfection — preventing COVID is possible through measures such as masking, ventilation, testing and vaccination.
This is what it really comes down to.
Masks are a reminder the pandemic isn’t over.
🔹COVID is airborne
🔹Each infection carries cumulative risk
🔹Long COVID has no cure

STUDY finds drinking alcohol is associated with greater risk of #COVID19.
Study of over 15M people found drinking more alcohol and drinking more often increased the risk of COVID-19. People who drank 7+ drinks per day had a 22% higher risk compared to non-drinkers. Drinking 3 to 4 days a week increased risk by 19% compared to drinking less than once a week. (Nothing noted about in-home or out-of-home drinking.)
STUDY finds kids with diabetes (DM) get profound benefit from #COVID19 vaccination:
In the post-pandemic period (their words, not mine) the vaccine effectiveness (VE) was significantly higher in the DM cohort. Against severe disease, the VE was 76.2% for children with DM and 52.9% for those without. " a complete vaccination regimen, including a booster dose, substantially mitigated severe COVID-19 outcomes in children with DM in the pandemic and post-pandemic periods."
Would you like to guess how many research studies have been published in the past 12 months that find that #COVID19 reinfections increase all sorts of risks, including Long COVID, cognitive dysfunction, myocarditis, mental ill health, arrhythmias, fatigue, osteoporosis, and other health issues?
Answer in the first comment...
The answer is 38 studies. Thirty-eight independent studies have been produced by dozens of researchers representing millions of dollars of investment, and yet the media and people continue to ignore the risks.
Details found in my spreadsheet of #COVID19 studies: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12VbMkvqUF9eSggJsdsFEjKs5x0ABxQJi5tvfzJIDd3U/edit?gid=136931009#gid=136931009
My new post: What Does Recent Research Tell Us About #COVID19 Reinfections?

Yes! We need to get the word out that COVID-19 is not just a respiratory disease, that it can impact almost every vascularized organ!
But it's simultaneously INCREDIBLY frustrating to read "The best preventive measure is vaccination" when we KNOW that the best preventative measure is clean air via respirators, and the second best preventative measure is cleaner air through air exchange and filtration.

- Risks moderate in the US, but 13 states have high viral activity
- Midwest still has high COVID risks
- The South has low viral activity but might be showing early signs of a possible rise
Hi, these are the weekly #washingtonstate #kingcounty (that is, #seattle and environs) #COVID #COVID19 #wastewater toots.
A quick reminder that this King County respiratory disease data comes from Washington State, not the federal government.
The West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant's 7 day running average of its detected Sars-CoV-2 levels went up a great deal. The last calculation was made on 2/3.
The Department of Health is here on the fediweb, at

My spreadsheet of studies on the long-term impact of #COVID19 infections has grown to 3,200 studies. Recent additions find COVID causes:
- 74% greater odds of developing a cardiac arrhythmia
- Brain changes associated w/ Alzheimer's disease-related symptoms and plasma biomarker changes
- 12% increased hazard of late-onset Alzheimer disease
- Long-term negative impacts of Long COVID on health outcomes 2.5 years after COVID-19 in non-hospitalised individuals

One of my brothers-in-law was one of the first Aussies to develop COVID-19. He has what his doctor calls "Covid toes": toes blackened due to vascular issues; one step away from gangrene.
COVID-19 is a vascular disease, not a respiratory one. Once people — especially doctors — get that straight, *everything* else people are experiencing begins to make sense.

Smart people don't ignore the risks of #COVID19 and other viruses before important events. These are the members of the U.S. women’s Olympic cross-country ski team posing for a photo Thursday, Feb. 5 in Italy. Not only are they wearing masks to make sure they can compete healthy, they are living outside the Olympic village in an off-site hotel during the entirety of the Games — a substantial financial investment intended to protect “health and wellness.”

Long COVID is not psychosomatic. It is a complex, multisystem condition with physical causes documented across growing bodies of research. Preventing COVID-19 infections remains one of the most effective ways to reduce long-term harm.

I REALLY wish people would get smarter on #COVID19 vaccines.
1. They are quite effective against death after infection, and increasing research suggests they reduce Long COVID and other chronic risks following infection.
2. They are weakly effective against infection and protection fades within months after a jab.
What this means: 1/3
Want to avoid a 4-4.5x increase in the risk of mortality? Want a tip on how to *easily* decrease your risk of a major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE)?
STUDY: #COVID19 infection was associated with a 4.5–fold increased mortality in males and 4.0–fold in female.
Post-infection vaccination provided an additional 36–38% MACE reduction. Further doses beyond the initial two-dose series gave sustained the benefit of the primary vaccination series.
