*Whether or not you're looking for a Covid Safe Date, please share this post. Because it's super difficult for people who avoid Covid to find love online.*

Covid Safe Date is now a feature full online dating website for adults of all genders and sexual orientations around the world who take avoidance seriously.

We have a few dozen members already, join us!

You may have Long Covid or you may be Novid.

You may have been engaging in consistent Covid safety practices since 2020, or you may have just started properly avoiding Covid recently.

You may have a shitty job that forces you to be maskless in order to stay employed. You may share a household with people who don't avoid the plague like the plague.

But as much as possible, you wear a respirator mask in public. People thinking you look weird or peer pressure isn't enough to make you go maskless. You would only risk another infection with a possibly permanently destructive virus if you feared losing your income, or feared violence, or had to get a medical procedure where you couldn't be masked the whole time.

You absolutely would never go inside a restaurant to eat ever again. Restaurant food can be takeout or delivery. Food can be cooked at home.

Whether you've been infected several times or never, you know the best course of action is to avoid as many infections in the future as possible because the harm is cumulative.

Whether or not you keep vaxxed, you understand that the vaccine doesn't stop infection, you still must wear a respirator mask.

You understand the importance of good indoor ventilation and filtering, but you know a public place with a good air quality rating doesn't mean it's safe to take your respirator mask off. You know people get infected outdoors too if they're very close to other people.

When I tell you that Dr. Hoerger's data shows there's more Covid spreading now than at any point in 2020, you're saddened but you're not shocked. You know Covid is far from over.

And if this applies to you and you actually avoid the plague like the plague, chances are dating websites will be hostile to you if you mention Covid safety.

People have anecdotally had a hard time finding romance on CovidMeetups, because it's not really a dating website but a better place to meet friends or find dentists.

That's why Covid Safe Date exists. It may be the only dedicated part of the internet specifically for Covid avoiders to date and possibly fall in love.

Our services will always be 100% free-of-charge. There's no "premium" tier, all features are available to all users.

And for that reason, Covid Safe Date needs donations from people who can afford to do so, so I can keep paying for web hosting and paying my developers who have Long Covid and are struggling generously for their labor.

covidsafedate.com/we-need-your

I'm also the founder of Stop Gen AI, so you'd better believe that there is absolutely zero AI on Covid Safe Date. Our web platform and service is completely human crafted and maintained.

We are a space that's LGBTQIA+, neurodivergence, disability, and poverty inclusive.

And I'm a cybersecurity specialist who takes responsibility for your cybersecurity and privacy seriously.

Scientific American: COVID probably killed 150,000 more people in its first two years than official U.S. tolls show

We have severely undercounted the number of COVID deaths, scientists say (March 18, 2026)

Hi, these are the weekly (that is, and environs) toots. A quick reminder that this King County respiratory disease data comes from Washington State, not the federal government.

The West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant's 7 day running average of its detected Sars-CoV-2 levels is low. The last calculation was made on 3/10. Note: the wastewater numbers for the three King County sites didn't get updated last week, but it looks like they have been backfilled now.

WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. You can find overviews, individual sewershed results, and a breakdown of variants for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations for Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses, at doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistica. If you go to the page and click "learn more" in the statewide view tab, you can find out lots of details about how these data are calculated and how to interpret them. The dashboard gets updated every Wednesday (generally). The Department of Health is here on the fediweb, at @WADeptHealth

A screencap of the Washington State Department of Health's Covid wastewater data for the West Point Wastewater Treatment Plant. The trend line of the graph is described in the toot text.

Interesting and concerning study. It suggests an important and accumulating shift in COVID dangers without specifically forecasting impact.

"Five years after the emergence of SARS-CoV-2, converging clinical evidence reveals a progressive compound immunodeficiency affecting a substantial and growing proportion of the global population... The cross-pathogen pattern further supports a shared immunological driver operating at population scale."

This Australian Doctor's presentation is nothing surprising to any airborne aware folks - in other words, all the broad information has been verified across dozens or hundreds of studies, nothing fringe, everything important.

Two years old and only 773 views. This is a choice, and it is reprehensible. We need truth and reconciliation. We need Nuremberg trials.

Long COVID can affect anyone — regardless of age, health status, or how mild their initial infection seemed.

Preventing infection and reinfection of COVID-19 is the best way to avoid Long COVID.

If you’re living with Long COVID, how has fatigue affected your daily life?

COVID infections are not harmless. Research shows that initial and repeated COVID-19 infections can increase the risk of long-term health problems affecting multiple organ systems. Preventing infection and reinfection helps reduce these risks.

We may be entering our true Spring lull in the US. The positive rate of testing is lower today than it's been since December.

The positive rate of testing didn't spike all that much over winter, rising from 1.9% to 2.9%. Now, we're down to 2.3%. That 1.9% rate is the lowest we've hit in a year, and I'm curious if we might not drop beneath that before April.

For years, our surges have gotten lower. Could COVID be on its way to finally become a more predicable and endemic virus? I'll stay cautious, given Long COVID risks, but it would be nice to see infection risks continue to drop, wouldn't it?

Signs point to continued lower levels of surges--until and unless our low vaccination rate OR a significant COVID mutation causes a greater surge. 2026 will be an interesting bellwether year for , I think.

Just in case you forgot - SARS-CoV-2 dramatically alters cells. Not embellishment, but the words of the researchers:

SARS-CoV-2 infection induces global alterations of the host endomembrane system, including dramatic Golgi fragmentation

The virus shatters and scatters critical cellular pieces - this time my words. Them:

In contrast to the well-organized ribbon-like structure in uninfected cells, as labeled by the Golgi protein GRASP65, the Golgi was seen as small fragments dispersed in the entire cytoplasm in infected cells

AURORA, Colo. (Jan. 29, 2026) – Scientists have identified molecular and structural changes in taste buds that may explain why a small subset of people experience long-term taste loss after COVID-19 infection.

The study, published last month in Chemical Senses, provides the first direct evidence linking patients’ reported taste changes to measurable biological abnormalities inside taste cells.

What causes long-term taste loss after COVID-19?

Researchers from the University of Colorado Anschutz and two Swedish universities studied 28 non-hospitalized patients who reported persistent taste disturbances more than one year after contracting COVID-19.

Even a mild case of COVID-19 or the flu can impact the body long after the fever and cough fade, according to new Tulane University research that may help explain why some people struggle to feel fully recovered weeks or months later.

Tulane researchers found that while both viruses can leave lasting lung damage, only SARS-CoV-2 infection caused persistent brain inflammation and small blood vessel injury, even after the virus was no longer detectable. The findings, published in Frontiers in Immunology, help explain why long COVID often includes neurological symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue and mood changes, while influenza is more commonly associated with respiratory complications.

Figure 1. Cell type predictions recapitulate known effects of aging on the immune system. (A) Overview of the study design, including the development of cell type prediction and age prediction models using single-cell transcriptomics. The workflow highlights data preprocessing, clustering, annotation, and model training. (B) Cell type proportion changes in individuals from different age groups. (C) CD4/CD8 ratio increases with age, normalized to individuals aged 18–35. (D) Comparison of predicted versus manually annotated cell types in the training dataset. Cell annotations were based on canonical markers: CD4, CD8A, CCR7, GZMB, GNLY, and FOXP3. Predicted clusters align closely with ground truth annotations, demonstrating the accuracy of the model. (E) Validation of the model in the test dataset, showing high concordance between predicted and manually annotated clusters with quantitative accuracy metrics (97% accuracy; F1 score = 0.97). (F)

Well, it went down lots this week. I don't know what was going on two weeks ago, but, hey, glad to see this. The last calculation was made on 2/8.

He has what his doctor calls "Covid toes": toes blackened due to vascular issues; one step away from gangrene.

Once people — especially doctors — get that straight, *everything* else people are experiencing begins to make sense.

You can find overviews, individual sewershed results, and a breakdown of variants for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations for Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses, at doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistica. After infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, up to ten percent of those affected in Germany develop Long COVID. The symptoms associated with it, such as fatigue, concentration problems, respiratory issues, or neurological problems, can last for months or years.
