Unlimited add-on domains, unlimited mailboxes, and email aliases for 19.2 EUR per year!

Also, they provide extensive tools and docs on the proper DNS configuration for your domains to make email work as expected. For the domain hosted at , it's just a couple of button clicks.

Also, I love their raw DNS zone file editing feature. Allows easy bulk editing with validation on save.

But turns out you can't have alias domains there. So every domain becomes a separate email service for 10 EUR annually.

I have used for years. I have loved it, but in the last year they have changed a lot.

They are more concerned with money than customers. I made the huge mistake of signing up for Thundermail only to find that it is crap and overpriced.

Now, because I refuse to pay their high prices, I have had my email taken away by them. That is crazy!

As such, I am looking to move completely away from Thunderbird. I need a good, free full-featured open-source client that works on Mac and Linux.

          Any suggestions?

Workers are asking for our help to send messages to Ashland Plant Manager Darren Becker, urging him to come back to the table in good faith.

In negotiations, Ashland management sought to:

He's been working on it for the last 2 years. It reuses the Evolution Data Server backend, combining its proven reliability with an adaptive GTK4+libAdwaita GUI.

It also handles contacts and calendaring (by embedding GNOME Calendar as a widget!). Future versions will allow using it not just as a PIM but also as a standalone mail app.

A couple of weeks ago a new small business client signed up for firewall monitoring service. After I got set up with remote access, I started poking around and discovered that they were paying for licenses for features that had never been enabled. I didn’t cost them any more money – I just had to flip the toggles on the dashboard and activate the features. Then, for a couple of those features, there were some choices to be made and settings to adjust to refine the operation.

Buying hardware or software to protect your system is only the first step. That hardware appliance or app has to be configured correctly in order to do its job correctly.

“Bob, one of my employees can send email from his iPhone, but he’s not receiving any emails.”

Well, that’s backwards – usually I see problems the other way around; they can receive, but not send.

I tried working with him on a phone call yesterday morning, but when you can’t see the screen, tech support is more difficult. The client’s main business location is in a town less than an hour from my office, so I went to their location after lunch to work on it in person.

Oh, so many details were left out! It turned out that he wasn’t receiving emails on his iPhone, his iPad, or his laptop – but he could send from the phone and the laptop.

And... the problem started in March, and was continuous from then until now!

Okay. First things first. Let’s log into Outlook on the web and see whether that works. I’m starting to have a hunch that I’ve seen this problem before, with other clients.

Outlook on the web looks the same. So I went into the Rules settings, and there was the culprit. The rule was named “....” That’s it, the only rule, and the rule name was just four dots. I clicked the drop-down arrow to expand the rule. And the rule said, on incoming mail, move it to the Deleted Items folder and mark it as read! So he was receiving email all along, he just didn’t know it.

I looked in the Deleted Items folder, and there were more than 1,300 messages, including my two test emails from earlier in the day. I moved everything back to the Inbox.

Here’s what happened. In March someone had started sending email pretending to be this employee. He changed his email password, and the outbound spam stopped. That’s all the company did. They thought the problem was solved.

Well, that locked the cybercriminal out, but it didn’t delete the rule that the cybercriminal had created to cover their activity. That rule didn’t get deleted until yesterday, June 24.

                            THE LESSON
If you believe your email has been compromised, after securing your account, log into each device, and especially the web instance, and look for rules you didn’t create. If a device was compromised, the malicious rule may be in Outlook’s rules on the device. This scenario can also happen in other email apps, like Thunderbird, and in other web-based email accounts, like Gmail. Whether it’s web-based or app-based, look for rules or filters that you were unaware of, and delete them.

A few tips on making email fun and enjoyable again. No seriously

Never register to a newsletter. Use RSS instead. This will cut down on more emails than you think

Use email alias and disposable email addresses. If you’re going away on vacation, temporarily disable the disposable email addresses or aliases until you return.

Actually use email for lengthy non-business communication. It’s very soothing.

Instead of keeping things in your email, move those to a notes text file for easier sorting later. Schedule non important folders to automatically delete if your provider supports it.

Ban addresses instead of clicking unsubscribe at the bottom of emails.

Create a designated important/to do folder that never automatically deletes. Move important/action items into that folder.

Switch all reading views to plain text. Emails are not web pages and should never be treated as a web page. If the information can go into a text document, it does not belong in your email storage.

Giving a try and I like most of the interface. It’s not a screen reader friendly as Gmail but I haven’t come across a lot of unlabeled things yet. The calendar is the most problematic for me but I will never use their interface. I always add calendar things via third party stuff. I do love their support though. There is no way to disable wrapping, which bugs me. I always disable line wrapping, word wrapping. It’s a shame they are union busters otherwise I would recommend FastMail. You should know that they have fucking HCaptcha and yes, it appears on every login screen you can think of without a text challenge. They do have an accessibility policy, but it’s not worth linking. Gonna try StartMail next.

Examples of their inability to cooperate with unions can be found scattered throughout union.place/@fastmailunited

My first thought… AI wrote this right? Maybe not? While a synthetic personal voiced apology letter sounds nice as an idea; I can’t help but cringe at how the team working on the problem is probably understaffed and in the dark while you sent me emails that say. “We just now finally got everyone to answer the phone and we told them they can’t leave until the internet is restored. Also we tried a few shortcuts and even swapped out some hardware but yet we still haven’t a clue what caused the issue or how to fix it, otherwise we would have given you an ETA in the form of units of time measurement instead of treating this like a journalist in a warzone.” Still waiting on the internet, maybe leave the radio alone for a while?

                                                      Notice

Google mail client in Android refuses to login on other addresses than gmail.com!!!

I noticed a while back that the Google client fights back when I want to login on my email addresses which deviate from the Google domain. The client started with putting delays, before opening those accounts. It also randomly injected that those accounts were not safe while all standard Open Source safety measures are taken on both the servers and the clients.
When scaring you into using your {own hosted} email server fails, the gmail Android client degrades to the following behavior

The Google mail client in Android blatantly refuses to open the mails on those addresses.

##The Android client fakes, hallucinates, out of memory errors...

...even when all other programs on the phone have been taken out of memory. It's like someone put in LLM hallucinated slop code in that part of the gmail client

                                                      Very anti-consumer this Behavior

Of course I have an Open Source e-mail client running 🎽 on my Androids

I've seen this behavior coming years before. No I'm not going to recommend any open source email client to you, to use on your Android, to fetch and process your mail.

                                                          Question to you.

What is a good email solution for non-profits/community groups in the United States?

                                                          Base Requirements:
                                                          - Emails that use our domain name.
                                                          - Allows individual email accounts for users (roughly 20 to 50).
                                                          - Allows email aliases / groups to where emailing one email delivers to multiple users (eg info@domain.ex goes to three specific people or foodrescue@domain.ex goes to those working on the food rescue side, etc)

                                                          Ideal requirements:
                                                          - Cheap or free
                                                          - Privacy / security oriented
                                                          - Managed (I don't like the idea of hosting our own email server for example)

Those ideal requirements have some contradiction in it, of course.

So high level, I've looked into:
                                                          - Google
                                                          - Microsoft
                                                          - Proton Mail
                                                          - Tutanota
                                                          - Mailbox org
                                                          - Startmail

Here is the quick overview for those:

                                                          Google:
                                                          - https(slash)www.google(dot)com/nonprofits/offerings/workspace/#!#workspace-pricing
                                                          - Cost: Free
                                                          - Con: They actively scan and read all emails. So we become the product.
                                                          - Pro: They are used by many non-profits and are well liked from a usability standpoint

                                                          Microsoft:
                                                          - https(slash)www.microsoft(dot)com/en-us/microsoft-365/business/nonprofit-plans-and-pricing
                                                          - Cost: $5.50 per user
                                                          - Con: They actively scan and read all emails
                                                          - Pro: They have a more robust app offering.
(I don't think we need this level of IT for our group though)

                                                          Proton Mail for Non-Profits:
                                                          - proton.me/business/plans#plans
                                                          - Cost: 20% off Business Costs. If we just went with email, it'd be about $5.60 per user per month
                                                          - Pro: They are private and secure and can't read emails
                                                          - Con: Much less app support but we really just need email for this

Tutanota does not offer non-profit discounts within the US - So it's a similar offering as Proton Mail for about three dollars more per month.

Startmail is also similar in price point and features as Proton and Tutanota

Mailbox(dot)org may be ideal in this space as it's only $1 per user per month. I have to check and see if we can use a custom domain, etc.

Google is free... which matters. You are the product. Also folks know it - the UI is good. Making a cost benefit analysis here, I have to bring up the "we don't have anything to hide" sort of thing. As an individual, that doesn't fly - right. But as a community group / potential non-profit, we are already transparent. None of our communications contain sensitive information. And we have a lot of folks coming in and out as it is.

So, what would the threat scenario around an org using Google for email be?

Tried to do their 30 day free trial and, not only did they seem to block Google Voice numbers, but they have HCaptcha on almost every login/recovery page, and, no thank you. Gonna look at other email providers, but Fastmail is out for me, which is a shame because I love all the things they provide.

I had to do their accessibility cookie. I don’t know why I did not get there text challenge. When HCaptcha detected I had a Gmail address, they forced me to make an account. I made an account, applied the accessibility cookie, then immediately requested my account be deleted. HCaptcha said my account will be deleted within 20 hours. I can’t express how much I hate HCaptcha.
