Can ICE be reformed? I don't see it. It seems to me that even if something along the original intentions of immigration and customs enforcement is to follow, ICE, in its current form, has been perverted by Trump to such an extreme that the only way forward is to abolish it.
In studying media, news, and propaganda, there are moments in time when you realize that if things break the wrong way, you're watching events that will live on in infamy in our collective history; this might be one of those moments.
This morning Trump's FBI arrested a sitting Wisconsin County Judge, Hannah Dugan, at the courthouse where she works; as revealed in an unhinged, since-deleted tweet by FBI Director and noted conspiracy crank Kash Patel. Unfortunately, the arrest has since been confirmed via multiple sources, and was discussed on Fox News earlier today by US Attorney General, Pam Bondi.
The government, which is currently being run by a bunch of Christian Nationalist freaks in a cult of personality who're trying to build a white ethnostate, appears to be accusing Dugan of obstructing federal agents (so ICE) by allowing an undocumented immigrant to hide in her chambers and misdirecting the Gestapo goons coming to seize him. If even half of that turns out to be true, I accuse Justice Dugan of being a goddamn hero.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/judge-hannah-dugan
'Fascism Getting Turned Up' as Trump FBI Arrests Wisconsin County Judge
"Wisconsin state Rep. Ryan Clancy (D-19) said in a statement Wednesday that "several witnesses report that [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] did not present a warrant before entering the courtroom and it is not clear whether ICE ever possessed or presented a judicial warrant, generally required for agents to access nonpublic spaces like Judge Dugan's chambers."
Clancy continued:
I commend Judge Hannah Dugan's defense of due process by preventing ICE from shamefully using her courtroom as an ad hoc holding area for deportations. We cannot have a functional legal system if people are justifiably afraid to show up for legal proceedings, especially when ICE agents have already repeatedly grabbed people off the street in retaliation for speech and free association, without even obtaining the proper warrants.
While the facts in this case are still unfolding, it's clear that actions like Judge Dugan's are what is required for democracy to survive the Trump regime. She used her position of power and privilege to protect someone from an agency that has repeatedly, flagrantly abused its own power. If enough of us act similarly, and strategically, we can stand with our neighbors and build a better world together."
I quoted the part with Rep. Clancy's statement both because I agree with every word of his defense of, and praise for Dugan's actions, but also because I wanted to highlight the part about ICE not having a judicial warrant when they entered Dugan's court. This is an extremely sore point for the fascist right and their mass deportation scheme and they've argued that all branches of the government, including the independent judiciary, should allow them to snatch up migrants with only immigration orders that are much easier to obtain for the Gestapo than judicial warrants are. Obviously many government officials and lawmakers with a conscience refuse to do so, Dugan is clearly one of those that isn't willing to collaborate with a fascist regime's mass deportation scheme, and that's why they're charging her.
Furthermore, I think it's safe to say the Trumpenreich is actively trying to intimidate judges who defy their mass deportation plans, while gearing up for a propaganda war about how courts that won't let them do whatever they like to create a white ethnostate are somehow illegitimate, because of the extremely public show they've made of all this. Patel didn't gleefully tweet the news out by accident, Bondi wasn't just bumming around a Fox News camera when the news broke, and as the article notes standard procedure for charging a judge with obstruction would involve inviting her to "to show up and accept process" - not a highly public FBI arrest at the courthouse. This is another example of the Trump regime employing fascist theater to justify the enforcement of unreality; in this case their supposed right to arrest a Judge for stopping the American Gestapo from caging another undocumented immigrant because *they* didn't have the paperwork to allow them to do so.
The perverse part here is that in an American legal logic twisted towards the needs of a reactionary ruling class and authoritarian principles, it's entirely possible Dugan has committed a crime of some kind here. Be that as it may, the truth is that even if she has, nobody has any right to say Justice Hannah Dugan is guilty. She's not guilty, she might be the only one in the whole damn government who isn't guilty. The guilty people are the fascists hunting down migrants and the greedbag "bipartisan" consensus that built them the fascist police state they're using to do it. If you tell me that Hannah Dugan is guilty, then let me just say now that I don't want to be innocent.

Over the course of both Trump administrations so far, I've always felt that one of the easiest ways to spot the odious fascist inclinations of the regime is to observe the Trumpenreich's malevolent disdain for, and gleeful desire to harshly police, migrant children. No matter how wrong a person is about immigration policy, there's a demarcation of human decency line that should come into play before you decide to take out your nativist authoritarian fantasies on innocent children who're in the United States through no real fault of their own; yet in Trumpworld that line simply doesn't seem to exist.
Take for example the news that Trump's DHS and the ICE Gestapo have been tracking "unaccompanied alien children" with an eye towards deporting or prosecuting them, under the guise of benevolent "wellness checks" and yet another far right conspiracy theory about child trafficking.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/28/ice-unaccompanied-immigrant-children
Ice seeking out unaccompanied immigrant children to deport or prosecute them
"Although DHS is characterizing the welfare visits as benevolent, an internal Ice document accessed by the National Immigration Project advocacy group and then shared shows Ice is also seeking out children who came into the US alone as immigrants – and their US-based sponsors – for immigration enforcement purposes and/or to pursue criminal prosecutions. The recent operations and document confirm a February report from Reuters, that the Trump administration has directed Ice to track down and deport this group.
Meanwhile, in Donald Trump’s second term, legal services provided to unaccompanied minors have been slashed and funds are not flowing despite court intervention. And the federal agency monitoring unaccompanied immigrant children has begun sharing sensitive data with Ice.
The Ice document shows “ it’s not just about checking in on kids, making sure that they can account for them and that they’re not being exploited”, said Michelle Méndez, the director of legal resources and training for the National Immigration Project. “It shows they have other goals, and the goals are criminalization of the kid or criminalization of the sponsor. It’s backdoor family separation.”
Look, I don't know about you but I definitely remember a time when Americans were up in arms because Trump was separating migrant families in detention and essentially trafficking children to Christian American foster families. So for the Trump regime to be working on a backdoor way to deport unaccompanied migrant children under the guise of fighting a made up reactionary moral panic about stopping "child trafficking" under Joe Biden, is both nauseating and outrageous. I can think of dozens of more appropriate government agencies than DHS and ICE to monitor the welfare of what amount to child refugees, but it's irrelevant because the Trump regime's own internal documents say they picked the Gestapo because they want to deport literal children. I don't know who needs to be told that a government pretending it cares about helping and protecting migrant children while simultaneously slashing all the programs that would actually do that is lying, but clearly that's what's going on here. These people are fucking heartless animals; and I don't mean the kids.
It should also be noted that here again we can observe the same "inversion of purpose" the regime has been using to justify enacting other aspects of its authoritarian Christian Nationalist agenda; for example transforming the Department of Justice's civil rights division into a vehicle for state prosecution of white grievance, or arguing that illegally kidnapping anti-genocide protestors on behalf of our bloodthirsty client state Israel is actually "fighting antisemitism on college campuses," and so forth. I'm sure it amuses Stephen Miller, Trump's unofficial Secretary of Nazi Shit, to no end that he's able to weaponize the language of tolerance and equality to straight up do state-sanctioned white supremacist dictator shit and enforce mass acceptance of the regime's fascist "unreality."
Finally I would encourage folks not to sleep on the fact that ICE's own internal documents are instructing agents to target, um, children with “gang or terrorist ties/activities.” Even setting aside the fact that the regime is implying literal children might be a national security threat or in a nacro-terrorist organization, we already know the Trumpenreich is prepared to accuse anyone they don't particularly like of being in a terrorist gang so they can traffic them to a torture prison in El Salvador without due process. I can't say why the regime wants to mark again, literal children, as narco-terrorists but given the fascist bullshit they're already using that designation to accomplish, I can pretty much guarantee you it won't be anything good.

I'm a few days behind on this story because I incorrectly assumed it would go away; which means that now we have to get up to date on Tom "the People Eater" Homan and his threats to arrest elected officials who "obstruct" ICE and Trump's fascist mass deportation campaign. Homan, a man so inarticulate it sounds like his own tongue lives in opposition to the abhorrent shit that comes out of his mouth, is Trump's "Border Czar" - a job that sounds like it should mean he's the head minister for deportations, but mostly appears to involve going on TV to explain why every awful cribbed from the literal Nazis thing Stephen Miller told Trump to do is awesome, and threaten anyone who opposes mass deportations and the fascist apparatus that enables them, including some members of the opposition Democratic Party.
In the wake of the Trump regime's arrest of Wisconsin County Judge Hannah Dugan, the Democratic Governor of that State, Tony Evers issued a fairly milquetoast guideline for state employees on how to interact with federal immigration employees. When Homan was directly asked about Evers and his directive, the Border Czar shot back with a thinly-veiled threat to arrest the Governor of Wisconsin.
Trump border czar makes veiled threat against Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers
"Your comments on the Wisconsin governor sending directives to state agencies to not comply with ICE and actually stop your deportation efforts?" a reporter asked Homan.
"Wait to see what's coming. I meant what I said. You can not support what we're doing, and you can support sanctuary cities if that's what you want to do. But if you cross that line into impediment or knowingly harbor or conceal an illegal alien, that is a felony, and we will treat it as such," Homan said."
Well, that certainly isn't alarming or anything, is it? Furthermore, while you might be forgiven for assuming Trump's goon nazi border pit bull is speaking out of pocket here, this actually isn't the first time in the past thirty days that Homan has directly threatened elected officials in the opposition party with arrest and prosecution.
Trump’s Border Czar Has Chilling Threat for Every Democratic Leader
"Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan said Tuesday that leaders from cities and states with sanctuary policies could expect to face prosecution very soon.
A reporter outside of the White House asked Homan whether he believed that the leaders of sanctuary states and cities should be “prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and possibly go to prison,” alleging that they’d violated law prohibiting U.S. citizens from transporting, smuggling, or harboring undocumented immigrants.
“Absolutely, and hold tight on that one,” Homan replied. “’Cus it’s coming. It’s coming.”
Sharp-eyed readers will note that as crude and malevolent as Homan clearly is, his word selection is careful here. While this is unquestionably a threat to arrest opposition elected officials who don't help the regime conduct mass deportations, Homan's language does (barely) provide him with plausible deniability based on the "question" of whether or not Evers, or any other official actually *did* illegally impede federal officials or "knowingly harbor" migrants from their grasp. Of course, as we already discovered when the GOP tried to imply AOC hosting a webinar on migrant rights was "illegally impeding" immigration officials, the question of whether or not Evers' guidance does so is itself ridiculous fascist propaganda. The Governor has broken no law, as he recently explained himself.
'Disgusted' But 'Not Afraid': Wisconsin Governor Rips Arrest Threat From Trump Border Czar
"These threats represent a concerning trajectory in this country," said Evers. "We now have a federal government that will threaten or arrest an elected official—or even everyday American citizens—who have broken no laws, committed no crimes, and done nothing wrong."
"And as disgusted as I am about the continued actions of the Trump administration, I am not afraid," he added. "I have never once been discouraged from doing the right thing, and I will not start today."
At this point anyone who has been reading along with my analysis of fascism in the Trump 2.0 era, should be starting to see the familiar outlines of a regime propaganda op to create a permission gate for fascist repression, in action. Evers has broken no law, but Homan and the rest of the fascist GOP are committed to spreading the propaganda idea that merely informing migrants of their rights is in fact "impeding" federal immigration officers, and "harboring" migrants illegally. I'm pretty sure the idea here isn't to win the legal argument, but to muddy up the waters enough that the American right will broadly support the regime when it does in fact, start arresting its political opposition.

With the heat rising on the Pork Reich because of their migrant trafficking scheme with noted fascist and torture prison operator Nayib Bukele in El Salvador, the regime is apparently looking for new foreign torture gulags to traffic migrants to. Multiple reports have emerged that the Trump regime is on the verge of a deal with Libya to accept "deported" migrants from the United States; this despite, or perhaps because of, the fact that both the UN and the US government's own investigations label Libya as one of the most dangerous places on earth for migrant detainees.
US planning to deport migrants to Libya despite ‘hellish’ conditions – reports
"Human rights groups condemned the reported plans, noting the country’s poor record on human rights practices and harsh treatment of detainees.
“Migrants have long been trafficked, tortured and ransomed in Libya. The country is in a civil war. It is not a safe place to send anyone,” Sarah Leah Whitson, the executive director of Democracy for the Arab World Now (Dawn), wrote on X.
Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, senior fellow at the American Immigration Council, wrote on the platform alongside a picture of a Libyan detention facility: “Don’t look away. This is what Libya’s migrant detention facilities look like. This is what Trump is doing.”
Reichlin-Melnick added: “Amnesty International called these places a ‘hellscape’ where beatings are common and sexual violence are rampant. There are reports of human trafficking and even slavery.”
Claudia Lodesani, head of programs for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), said the group was “very concerned” about the possible consequences of such a plan, saying reports by media outlets and human rights organisations showed that “Libya is not a safe country for migrants”
Lodesani pointed to a 2023 United Nations report which documented “widespread practices of arbitrary detention, torture, rape and slavery and concluding there were grounds to believe a wide array of crimes against humanity have been committed against migrants in Libya.”
Reports on exactly how this objectively fascist scheme would work are currently sketchy, but given that the Trump regime's modus operandi has been to willfully break the law to violate the rights of migrants before anyone can tell them not to, and then claim what's done is done after the fact, this particular rumor and the lack of denial by the White House is pretty alarming. At this point it seems abundantly clear that the regime considers human rights violations and potentially lethal confinement conditions to be a feature, not a bug, in the places they're trying to send migrants; which tracks with the Pork Reich's discredited and debunked rhetoric about the effectiveness of intentional cruelty towards migrants as a "deterrent" across both of the Klepto Kaiser's administrations.
Unfortunately, we as a society that presumably doesn't want the government to traffic folks guilty of nothing more than a civil immigration violation to foreign torture prisons don't really have time to wait around for the regime to confirm their plans. As the article indicates, some sources claimed the first flights might occur as early as yesterday, so the time for the media and Trump's political opposition to pressure the regime on why it's even considering sending undocumented migrants and asylum seekers to a carceral state where murder, violence, and slavery reportedly awaits them, is right now. Given the response from the media, the judiciary, and society at large to the regime's El Salvador scheme, Trump and DHS officials have to know that they're not legally allowed to traffic abducted migrants to torture prisons in Libya either, so clearly the plan here is to do it fast and let the chips fall where they may; it makes no sense whatsoever to wait around until they actually do it before anyone tries to do anything about it.
#Fascism #Trump #MigrantRights #Libya #MigrantCarceralComplex #WhiteNationalism #ICE #DHS #MarcoRubio #USPol #Gestapo
The story about the Trump regime's (apparently not so) secret plans to traffic migrants to torture prisons in Libya has taken a dramatic turn for darkly comic reasons. A federal judge has ordered the US government to halt plans to "deport" migrants to Libya and hand over any information related to planning to do so, after detainees reported being told by ICE agents that they would soon be shipped to that country.
Federal Judge Blocks Trump Administration From Deporting Immigrants to Libya
"The injunction placed by U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy states that the Trump administration’s actions would “clearly violate” a previous order he made, violating immigrants’ right to challenge their expulsion to countries other than their homelands.
Murphy also ordered that the U.S. government — which hasn’t formally acknowledged whether or not it is planning to deport people to Libya — hand over any details relating to claims that they are planning such a move, if such details exist.
The immigrants in question are reportedly from the Philippines, Vietnam and Laos, among other countries, according to a report from NBC News. In the legal motion seeking the injunction, lawyers claimed that their clients are being targeted for deportation “without any reasonable fear screening, let alone a fifteen-day window to file a motion to reopen with the immigration court to contest any negative reasonable fear determination.”
I know this is hardly the point of the story, but I remain periodically thankful that all these nazis are such assclowns because the Trump regime would be so much more dangerous if they weren't. Snitched-out by racist braggarts in your own Gestapo is the most "Trump" possible twist to this story, and it'd be grand if for once these peoples' malevolent white supremacy and crass authoritarianism worked on the side of justice and human rights.
Of course the Trump regime continues to neither confirm, nor deny the existence of a plan to traffic migrants illegally and unconstitutionally to torture prisons in Libya, and there's always the possibility that these nazis just ignore the judge's order and dare the courts to do something about it. What they aren't going to be able to do now is replicate their operation to traffic undocumented migrants to a torture prison in El Salvador under the cover of darkness and then claim they had no idea they were breaking the law and violating the constitution. At the end of the day the judge's order is just a slip of paper, but now the scheme is out in the open; Trump's opposition in the media and political classes have no excuse not to go after the regime for this fascist bullshit and demand answers about this clearly criminal plan.

In a breaking story, the Mayor (D) of Newark has been arrested for "trespass" at an ICE detention facility in New Jersey, Delaney Hall. Reports indicate that the Mayor, Ras Baraka was at the facility with other area politicians to conduct oversight at the recently re-opened privately-run detention center after reports of horrifying and inhumane conditions in other ICE facilities operated by GEO Group. Local news outlets are reporting that Baraka and 3 Congressional Democrats attempted to join a scheduled tour of the facility and were denied entry and ordered to vacate the premises by uniformed staff; an argument broke out and Members of Congress were shoved by agents, before multiple officers swarmed and arrested Baraka.
Clearly seeking to get out ahead of the crisis, woefully unqualified interim U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba (yes, that Habba; Trump's discredited former lawyer) took to social media to declare "no one is above the law" and low key threaten Trump's political opposition, while the Department of Homeland Security is now making up wild stories about Congressional Representatives Robert Menendez and Bonnie Watson Coleman storming the facility; even though the entire encounter was captured on camera by news outlets and observers in the parking lot of the facility.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/mayor-of-newark-nj
'This Is Not Normal': Newark Mayor Ras Baraka Arrested at Contested ICE Detention Facility
"Alina Habba, the interim U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, said on social media that Baraka "committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon. He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW."
Baraka's office told PIX11 that the mayor was taken to an ICE field office at 620 Frelinghuysen Ave. in Newark, adding that "we are actively monitoring and will provide more details as they become available."
The members of Congress explained on social media that they were at the facility to conduct oversight. As Watson Coleman put it: "We're at Delaney Hall, an ICE prison in Newark that opened without permission from the city and in violation of local ordinances. We've heard stories of what it's like in other ICE prisons. We're exercising our oversight authority to see for ourselves."
On one hand you would assume that even the Trump regime isn't stupid enough to try and lie about an incident captured entirely on videotape; on the other hand these are the same people who declared they won a 9-0 SCOTUS ruling against them, argue that the existence of undocumented migrants in America means we're in a literal war that gives the President extraordinary powers, and continue to insist that Donald Trump won the 2020 US presidential election even though he absolutely did not, and that was four and half years ago. Clearly the plan here is to throw up enough bullshit to fire up winger outrage at Democrats "endangering our beloved Gestapo" and hope emotion overrules logic as the regime engages in clear fascist repression of their political opposition.
"DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said that "members of Congress storming into a detention facility goes beyond a bizarre political stunt and puts the safety of our law enforcement agents and detainees at risk. Members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities. Had these members requested a tour, we would have facilitated a tour of the facility. This is an evolving situation."
The department also claimed that "the allegations made by Newark politicians that Delaney does not have the proper permitting are false. We have valid permits, and inspections for plumbing and electricity, and fire codes have been cleared."
This is utterly unhinged nonsense; nobody was trying to "break into" an ICE detention facility and the entire purpose of not informing DHS that they wanted a tour is so that the elected officials could investigate reports of abuse and unsafe conditions at the facility *without* DHS being able to set the scene before they arrive. Everything Baraka and the Congressional Democrats did here is a completely reasonable exercise of their oversight authority during what amounts to a fact-finding mission at local private prison facility contracting with the US government. The fact is that the Trump regime doesn't want the American people or their representatives to see what goes on inside private migrant detention facilities because they know it would outrage public sentiment and expose the regime to legal consequences; that's why the officials were stopped and ordered to leave. When they refused, the Gestapo went to the only thing they know; carceral force. This is fascism in action.
#Fascism #Trump #ICE #DHS #AlinaHabba #Newark #RasBaraka #PoliceState #DelaneyHall #TriciaMcLaughlin
As far back as the first Trump administration, I was writing about the way the president's absolute power over immigration policy and enforcement, combined with Trump's ethno-nationalist worldview, and ICE's disturbingly broad powers to act as a private army for the executive, ultimately made ICE Trump's literal "Gestapo." I'm old enough to have been for abolishing ICE from its inception as a federal agency back in 2003, but now that we've actually seen what happens when an authoritarian president trying to establish a Christian Nationalist ethnostate gets ahold of a poorly regulated security force full of white nationalists, I think it behooves everyone who isn't a fascist themselves to advocate for abolishing ICE as a matter of personal preservation. If that sounds radical to you, please let me remind you that immigration officials and ICE agents are *already* arresting judges and opposition party politicians on made up "obstruction" and "trespassing" charges to ram through illegal mass deportations without interference from folks who care about things like "the law," or "human rights."
As this excellent article by Mehdi Hasan points out, the need to abolish ICE entirely wasn't always a "radical" left wing position in American politics; as recently as 2018 even "centrist" Democrats like Kirsten Gillibrand and future Democratic Party presidential nominee Kamala Harris were both willing to publicly say the agency needed to be ripped down to the studs and "reimagined." So now that Trump has fully unleashed ICE to behave as his own private Gestapo, where is the Democratic Party on the subject of abolishing ICE today? As Hasan notes, nowhere at all; and that includes progressive firebrands like AOC and Bernie Sanders.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/may/13/democrats-abolish-ice-trump
Ice has become Trump’s private militia. It must be abolished
"So where are the Dems on this? Why aren’t they calling for an end to a lawless, violent, deadly, institutionally racist, sexually abusive agency, whose employees’ union endorsed Trump for president in both 2016 and 2020, and whose former acting director, Tom Homan, has become this administration’s gung-ho “border czar” and “the face of Trump’s cruelty”, to quote my Zeteo colleague John Harwood?
Forget about talk of “reform”. At this point, there is no way to improve or “fix” Ice. It has to be abolished. Shut down. Scrapped. To quote Gillibrand in 2018, the entirety of immigration enforcement in the United States must be “reimagined”.
Meanwhile, as some Democrats obsess over opinion polls and worry about looking “soft” on the border, the actual experts on authoritarianism are sounding the alarm. The political scientist Lee Morgenbesser has compared Ice to a “secret police” and says the agency “is fast becoming a key piece in the repressive apparatus of American authoritarianism”. Historian Ruth Ben-Ghiat calls Ice the “foot soldiers” of the “fascists”. Even the “anti-woke” libertarians over at Reason magazine say Ice is on a “militaristic mission that effectively turns nonviolent immigrants into fugitives.”
On some level, it's mind-blowing to me that "we should dismantle the fascist regime's cracker supremacist secret police" is a controversial position in American politics, but here we are. I do not comprehend how anyone who has been watching the fascist activities of the Trump regime, and the operational centrality of the War on Terror era DHS (under which ICE operates) security structure to most of that fascist bullshit, can argue that an agency built to enforce American nativisim and "counterterrorism" police state repression, can be reformed somehow. Furthermore, even if it could be separated from the executive branch's far too broad immigration powers to reduce abuse, what would we be reforming it for? To hunt down brown people more "humanely?" That's absolute cracker nonsense, and while I know *why* the Democratic Party accepts that framework (they have rich racist donors who profit from the migrant carceral complex too), that doesn't make it any less nativist, or corrosive to our civil liberties when they do so. Hasan is right, the only politically and morally acceptable position here is "abolish ICE."
Even setting aside how strongly I agree with Hasan's argument, I'd like to note that this article is a wonderful work of evidentiary scholarship; there are no less than 56 source links documenting years worth of American political attitudes about ICE, the agency's numerous authoritarian abuses in the past month of the Trump 2.0 era, and why it's absolutely fair to describe them as Trump's personal (fascist) militia. Anytime you can spit so much truth "Very Serious People TM" don't want to hear that it requires your poor editor to spend an entire evening hunting down reference links, you're doing that work; game recognize game, Mr. Hasan.

In a story that as far as I can tell represents a petulant fascist temper tantrum as a result of fallout over the clown-show authoritarian arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, noted sycophant Trump minion Alina Habba has announced criminal charges against US Congresswoman (D-NJ) LaMonica McIver. The regime is accusing the Congresswoman of assaulting two ICE agents during the lawful oversight visit she conducted on a sketchy, privately-run, recently reopened migrant detention facility called Delaney Hall; the very same visit that resulted in Trump's Gestapo arresting Baraka as part of the regime's attempts to intimidate opposition to their unlawful mass deportation campaign.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/lamonica-mciver-charges
'Should Send a Chill Down the Spine of Every American': Trump DOJ Charges New Jersey Democrat
"In a statement, Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba announced the charges against U.S. Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.), claiming the lawmaker "assaulted, impeded, and interfered with law enforcement" at GEO Group's Delaney Hall. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) awarded GEO Group a billion-dollar contract earlier this year to detain migrants there, even as the facility faced legal challenges and accusations of abuse.
McIver rejected the charges against her as "purely political," saying that "they mischaracterize and distort my actions" in an attempt to "criminalize and deter legislative oversight."
"We were fulfilling our lawful oversight responsibilities, as members of Congress have done many times before, and our visit should have been peaceful and short," said McIver. "Instead, ICE agents created an unnecessary and unsafe confrontation when they chose to arrest Mayor [Ras] Baraka."
Habba said Monday that her office has agreed to drop the trespassing charge against Baraka, who welcomed the decision while expressing solidarity with McIver."
Okay so I don't know if you remember the post I made about Baraka's arrest, but there are literally a bunch of links to video footage of the confrontation Habba is talking about and needless to say it doesn't show the Congresswoman assaulting anyone, let alone "body-slamming" anyone as at least one DHS official previously claimed. Even the government's own out of context video clip just shows some shoving in a crowd of people trying to protect the Mayor of Newark. In other words the Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey is straight up lying about something we can all watch on video. This would of course be more shocking if the world hadn't gotten to know Habba during her time as a defense attorney for Downmarket Mussolini, in which is she routinely spat out easily disprovable lies in court. As an activist I can say from personal experience that this feels an awful lot like the standard bullshit charge cops who just roughed up some protesters press to keep the heat off long enough for the story to go away, and then quietly drop later. You can see that same pattern at work in the "trespass" charges laid against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, which were ultimately dropped because the regime knows they don't have a leg to stand on when they're under oath.
With all that established however, I think it's important to understand that even if they ultimately drop the charges against McIver, as they did with Baraka, this is still an example of a fascist regime weaponizing the enforcement arm of the state, to target and intimidate their political opposition. Pam Bondi might not love the Justice Department's chances in a court of law, but a message is still being sent to opposition party politicians that if they try to interfere with the unlawful, openly fascist "whitening" of America, security forces will be deployed to stop them. This when combined with the regime's threatening rhetoric, and its day to day attempts to erode the oversight of the judiciary to do blatantly unconstitutional authoritarian bullshit, effectively creates an unstable political environment where opposition to the regime's program, even legal opposition, carries an impossible to properly calculate degree of personal risk to the critic. Whatever your opinion of the Democratic Party happens to be, I think we can all admit that putting their own asses on the line to protect dissidents and critics hasn't exactly been their forte since at least October 7th, 2023; although obviously Baraka, McIver, and Robert Menendez deserve full marks for doing so now.
Finally; I can't prove it, but for a fun thought experiment google up some pictures of Baraka, McIver, and Menendez and tell me if you can think of any obvious reasons a white nationalist government might charge only the two people they did. Yeah, looked about white to me too.

One of the peculiar aspects of analyzing America's descent into overt fascism during the second Trump administration is the way frustration with liberal orthodoxy surrounding the effectiveness of "rules and norms" in curtailing governmental abuses of power, and the blatantly unlawful behavior the regime regularly engages in, have worked to tamp down criticism of all the awful things this administration does that are merely morally wrong, while still being entirely legal. Of course it is completely rational to ask why Trump's predecessors in government considered relying on tradition and "norms" to prevent abuses of executive branch power a viable plan in the first place, but that doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't criticize the regime for doing objectively fascist cracker bullshit to punish "enemies" of the white American Volk just because it's not strictly illegal. Take for example ICE's recent habit of occupying courtrooms with immigration agents, and coordinating with government lawyers to allow the detainment and expedited deportation of otherwise law-abiding migrants, effectively without due process.
https://theintercept.com/2025/05/21/ice-agents-courts-arrests-immigrants-deport/
ICE Agents Are Camped Outside Immigration Courts to Make Arrests
"Reports began circulating on social media on Tuesday that ICE had begun efforts to get cases dismissed that had been pending for less than two years so that the agency could immediately apprehend immigrants and force them into an expedited removal process — effectively side-stepping the typical immigration court process.
“They’re moving to end those cases so they can move forward with a more aggressive form of deportation without the requirement to see a judge or request asylum,” Mackler said. “They’re basically circumventing due process.”
Although it's not clearly explained in this article, what's going on here is that the Trump regime has revived a 2019 policy that allows them to fast track deportations for migrants who can't prove they've been in the United States for loner than two years. This has then been combined with an ICE guidance issued in January that allows agents to conduct operations near courthouses “discreetly,” and active complicity by government attorneys, to create a cruel but effective trap. Migrants, even potential asylum seekers, can show up in court for their immigration cases, watch the government dismiss the charges, and then be detained for expedited deportation by masked Gestapo goons lounging around in the courtroom hallways for that purpose. Or, they can choose to skip the hearing, which will allow for immediate ICE detention and an automatic deportation order. Either way, the Trump regime gets to deport migrants without anything even resembling due process. Furthermore, just in case you think I'm being uncharitable and this is all just an unhappy accident caused by the interaction of shortsighted policy decisions, recent reporting in The Guardian indicates that this police state bullshit is entirely intentional on the part of the US Government.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/may/22/ice-arrests-immigration-courts
Ice arrests at immigration courts across the US stirring panic: ‘It’s terrifying’
"Three US immigration officials told the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity that government attorneys were given the order to start dismissing cases when they showed up for work on Monday, and were aware that federal agents would then be able to arrest those individuals when they left the courtroom.
In the case of Serrano in Miami, the request for dismissal was delivered by a government attorney who spoke without identifying herself on the record, the Associated Press reported. She refused to provide her name to the AP and quickly exited the courtroom."
Unfortunately, as far as I know and as I alluded to at the top of this post, this "tactic" to help facilitate an obviously white nationalist mass deportation scheme is completely legal. In fact, as this very article notes the Biden regime was using a similar expedited deportation process to rapidly deport migrants who'd been in the United States for less than two weeks, so in a round about way this is yet another example of America's long embrace of foundationally racist, xenophobic, and nativist immigration policies paving the way for Trump, a would-be fascist dictator, to circumvent the law and US constitution to do white nationalist authoritarian repression. Of course Biden wasn't sending masked goon squads full of Proud Boys with an immigration badge to trap migrants actively *trying* to obey US immigration law, and therein lies the rub. Just because America's long embrace of fascism, white supremacy, and police state repression allows Trump to do something, doesn't mean we have to pretend that he should do that thing, or that it's perfectly fine when he does so. This is fascism, legal or otherwise.

After Trump won the 2016 election, a few analysts, mostly on the actual left, immediately noted that Trump was now in possession of a vast federal surveillance panopticon, and if the new President was serious about his openly stated authoritarian fantasies, he had a fully-operational modern police state that would make the Stasi green with envy with which to enforce that agenda. In perhaps one of the few lucky breaks Americans who don't want a fascist dictatorship have caught during Trump's time in politics however, Downmarket Mussolini and his minions weren't clued in to the full range of possibilities the pre-existing American security state's digital panopticon had to offer. Trump is after all an aging billionaire nazi who recently admitted that he probably can't drive the Tesla he bought from his "first buddy" Elon Musk because "everything's computer" now.
Unfortunately in a second Trump era bought into being by not only Musk but other "AI" obsessed billionaire broligarch defense contractors as well, it looks like our luck has run out; fueled by automated systems the Trump regime is already engaging in targeted ideological policing in the government, in our universities, and on our social media platforms. Similar forms of data collection and surveillance technology are being employed to identify and hunt down migrants, critics of America's support for Israel, and anti-genocide activists; with ominous signs Americans with disabilities, and trans people may well be next. At an administrative level, the regime has worked toward routing all government data at every possible level to Trump's Gestapo; the government has forced agencies like the IRS and the Social Security Administration to share data with ICE, and the Justice Department under nazi sycophant Pam Bondi has openly threatened Democrat State and Municipal governments that don't put their law enforcement agencies and surveillance system data at the Department of Homeland Security's disposal as the government conducts a racist, immoral, and almost certainly illegal mass depuration scheme nationwide.
Given this integration of multiple enforcement arms of the government towards objectively white nationalist and unconstitutional programs, a recent report that law enforcement officials across the country are sharing AI-powered license lookups with ICE goons is at once predictable, and yet extremely alarming all the same.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/ice-license-plate-reader
Report: State and Local Cops Doing License Plate Lookups for ICE
"Data reviewed by 404 Media found that state and local police are using an artificial-intelligence-powered automatic license plate reader (ALPR) system made by Atlanta-based Flock Safety to perform immigration-related lookups and other actions in service of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) investigations, "giving federal law enforcement side-door access to a tool that it currently does not have a formal contract for," according to report authors Jason Koebler and Joseph Cox.
Koebler and Cox found that Flock Safety's ALRP systems are being used in more than 5,000 communities from coast to coast, where law enforcement agencies have conducted over 4,000 lookups "either at the behest of the federal government or as an 'informal' favor to federal law enforcement."
I think it's important to understand the backstory behind Trump's attempts to recruit US police to enact his fascist agenda in order to really grasp what's going on here; otherwise what is a clear step by step program to integrate the larger American police state into Trump's domestic ethno-nationalist ethnic cleansing project, can look like an ad-hoc informal practice between the feds and local muderpigs who broadly share a duty to uphold white supremacy. As the article notes, Trump issued a day one executive order empowering cops to conduct operations traditional reserved for ICE under the direction of DHS, and the regime has encouraged further cooperation from local law enforcement under a provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act; cooperation that has allowed the Gestapo to hover up massive amounts of data about migrants from even designated sanctuary cities.
Finally, the broader context surrounding this story takes us well beyond a question of privacy rights for migrants in America. I have noted in the past that Trump needs to recruit an army for at least two of his clearly identifiable goals; ICE isn't big enough to accomplish mass deportations or police state suppression of Trump's political enemies and its increasingly looking like Pete Hegseth won't be able to deliver the actual army at Der Führer's whim. That makes police the most logical target for collaboration with the regime and the ICE Gestapo, to accomplish those goals. That's why Trump wants to "unleash the police" to enforce martial law, and if this story is any indication, those tendrils of collaboration are growing.

Even as the Trump regime appears poised to ultimately lose a number of cases revolving around instant visa revocations for anti-genocide foreign student protestors, Downmarket Mussolini's purse dog at State, Marco Rubio, is looking to expand the tactic to target Chinese foreign students; and the ominous context of this move suggests to me that we might be in for a bumpy ride if this really is going in the direction I think it's headed.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/china-us-revoke-visas-international-students
'This Will Hurt Us As Much As It Hurts Them': Trump Admin Says It Will Revoke Visas of Chinese Students
"The U.S. State Department announced on Wednesday that it is working with the Department of Homeland Security to "aggressively revoke" visas that have been issued to Chinese students—sparking a rebuke from China's government and anxiety among Chinese students.
The Trump administration is endeavoring to revoke visas for students that hail from China, "including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields," according to a short statement from the State Department. "We will also revise visa criteria to enhance scrutiny of all future visa applications from the People's Republic of China and Hong Kong."
Even taken at face value, this policy shift is authoritarian, racist, and alarming. The power Rubio is attempting to exert here is about protecting American national security in the event of a crisis on par with an impeding war; it's not intended as a method for the Trump regime to get back at China for criticism over Downmarket Mussolini's unhinged trade policies. Even under the most benign interpretation of Rubio's actions here, this is still Trump repurposing the apparatus of the American state to prosecute his personal grievances.
Of course, we as observers who just watched the Pork Reich use this exact same process to justify kidnapping and attempting to deport foreign student anti-genocide protestors as part of a larger authoritarian plot to use "fighting antisemitism" as a justification for installing a new McCarthyism, have no reason to assume the most benign scenario here. Are we to expect the US government to begin kidnapping Chinese students and shipping them to ICE private detention hellholes now? If that happens, how do you figure the Chinese government is going to feel about it? Regardless of what you think about Palestine and Hamas, they don't have nukes and international economic power; China does. Does anyone know what the phrase "critical fields," means in this context and does it bother you that it's so vague? Are we worried about Chinese students stealing our crappier AI technology or some bullshit? Does it seem rational to anyone who isn't a Sinophobe nazi to kick a hornet's nest like this one, because Trump had some feel bads about social media posts from Chinese officials?
While I wish I could stop there, in a Project Esther world every bit of repressive policy based on foreign relations and winger anticommunism is a possible vector for ideological policing and the elimination of what the nazis classify broadly as "the radical American left" - a group that includes Democrat politicians and apparently, the hosts of The View. The sleight of hand the regime is employing to conflate anti-Zinonism and opposition to a genocide with anti-Americanism and material support for our "enemies," can be just as easily applied to China and a very broad, Bircher definition of "communism." In fact, I'd argue decades of American anticommunist rhetoric would make that application even easier and more effective in the public discourse. If you take a look at what the folks behind the 1776 Commission, and Project 2025 define as "communism" there's an unreasonable argument that anyone advocating for racial, gender, or social equality is a communist. Ditto for folks advocating for regulations on capitalism, labor rights, or even the separation of church and state; the possibilities are pretty endless given what these folks call "communism." From there it's only a short little hop to "China is communism, therefore communism is China" and you've got a whole new application of Project Esther techniques to work with in your quest to crush all political opposition to the Trump regime.
Are these nazis really prepared to repurpose a global trade struggle with China to install a martial law-style police state? Who knows; but if you listen to guys like Stephen Miller talk for about five minutes, you'll realize why I think assuming they *don't* intend to go the full nine yards, is a very bad idea indeed.

While even veteran observers of Trump's atrocious fascist agenda in action can become numb to the raw amount of violence, criminality, and repression this regime engages in, sometimes a Trump 2.0 era headline will punch you in the mouth with a raw, and visceral reminder of precisely how horrifying and evil America has become during the Kelpto Kaiser's second act. Words cannot begin to describe how uncomfortable it makes me to see the Trump regime's cracker nationalist mass deportation scheme so interwoven into our everyday lives that the government is proudly keeping score on the number of migrants detained by the American Gestapo.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jun/05/trump-ice-arrests-immigration
Ice makes record number of immigration arrests on single day
"Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) made a record high number of arrests on Tuesday, detaining more than 2,200 people as Donald Trump’s hardline immigration policy continues.
NBC News reported that the figure represents the most people ever arrested by Ice in a single day.
Hundreds of the people arrested were enrolled in Ice’s alternative to detention program, under which migrants who are awaiting legal status are given background checks to determine they are not a safety risk, then tracked by the government using ankle monitors or smartphone apps.
The record total comes after senior officials over the weekend instructed rank-and-file Ice officers to arrest more people, even without warrants. In May, the White House demanded that Ice arrest 3,000 people a day."
To put it blunting this shit is racist, dystopian, and if it isn't illegal it absolutely fucking should be. If this doesn't make you want to see ghouls like Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem punished for crimes against human rights and a supposedly free society, you're probably reading the wrong blog. I'm not sharing this story to make you angry however; I have a greater purpose here.
The backdrop behind this repugnant milestone in what amounts to a type of ethnic cleansing, is the same broader discussion we've been having about ethno-nationalism, regime propaganda about violent migrant criminals, and how the gap between who Trump says he's targeting, and who the Gestapo detains debunks every reason the Trumpenreich has offered for its mass deportation program. Ratcheting up ICE's arrest quota by 300% has made it impossible for even a credulous American establishment to pretend this is about public safety, or removing violent criminals from the country; and the nazi chucklefucks running this cracker nationalist shitshow have admitted as much internally.
"Some of the arrests “appear to be the result of a new Ice tactic”, NBC News reported, in which Ice officials arrest migrants who are enrolled in the alternative to detention program when they arrive at pre-scheduled check-in meetings at Ice offices.
“[With] mass arresting of people on alternatives to detention or at their Ice check-ins or at immigration court hearings, the dragnet is so wide that there’s no possible valid argument that could be made that these individuals are all dangerous,” Atenas Burrola Estrada, an attorney with the Amica Center for Immigrant Rights, told NBC News.
The Guardian reported that on Saturday senior Ice officials urged officers to “turn the creative knob up to 11” when it comes to enforcement, including by arresting undocumented people whom officials may happen to encounter – here termed “collaterals” – while serving arrest warrants for others."
This is of course in addition to unconfirmed reports that Stephen Miller himself yelled at DHS officials last week to demand the Gestapo stop focusing on just "criminal" migrants; which if true, makes it abundantly clear that the regime understands the rhetorical two-step they're playing here as part of a broader project to whiten US population demographics. Folks we're arresting asylum seekers reporting for monitoring, refugees who just lost protected status by Presidential fiat, and migrant mothers with American citizen infants; nothing about this has anything to do with fighting "crime" or keeping anyone "safe." It could not be any clearer that when this regime says "criminal" they mean "undocumented" and when they say they're acting to keep the public safe, they mean "from brown people existing at all."
And given that this is so obvious, why is anyone still pretending otherwise? The Trump regime's mass deportation scheme is very clearly a type of ethnic cleansing project designed to produce a whiter America and it's probably only a matter of time before some nazi figures out bullets are cheaper than airplane rides. At what point are we as a nation going to accept that this is how the Third Reich and the horrors of the Holocaust happened, and collectively stop pretending this is immigration policy? I hope the answer is soon, because it does no good to realize the truth after we're digging up mass graves.

As the gravity of the Trumpenreich's attempted invasion of LA, the Swine Emperor's birthday boy military parade, and the regime's seemingly vociferous support for Israel's attack on Iran dominate the American discourse, I'd like to take a look at a story about the regime's attempts to deport anti-genocide activists and scholars, that got lost in the shuffle of larger spectacles in our news cycle. While this June 7th Intercept article by Jonah Valdez is centered around government attorney actions in one lawsuit, I think the behavior on display here actually says quite a lot about the regime's intention to discourage, criminalize, and punish anti-genocide speech or ideological opposition to Trump's pro-Israel policies going forward.
https://theintercept.com/2025/06/07/ice-deport-free-speech-aaup-rubio/
ICE Won’t Rule Out Retaliating Against Immigrants Who Testify in Free Speech Case
"As attorneys for the scholars prepared to file a motion to protect their witnesses — many of whom are in the country under green cards or visas — from being detained or deported for testifying during trial, government attorneys refused to agree to such safeguards, according to recent legal filings in the case.
In their refusal, government attorneys said that their clients, which include the Department of Homeland Security as well as Immigration and Customs Enforcement, “did not want to be bound by an agreement preventing them from taking action against individuals whose identities they did not know yet,” the filings said.
When the scholars’ attorneys clarified that the motion would only protect witnesses from being targeted for participating in the case, attorneys for DHS and ICE doubled down in their opposition to the protection and challenged them to instead have the judge decide whether to grant the order."
The backdrop here is that the American Association of University Professors filed a lawsuit against the government for its clearly-illegal targeting of anti-genocide student protestors and scholars, shortly after the regime kidnapped and attempted to deport Mahmoud Khalil (among others), a legal permanent resident, for exercising his constitutionally-protected free speech rights during anti-genocide protests at Columbia University. Naturally, because some of the people who would testify in a case like that are going to be pro-Palestine students and scholars who're the intended targets of Trump's fascist ideological policing, lawyers sought assurances that their clients wouldn't be targeted by ICE or the State Department, either for, or during their testimony. This should be a mere formality in a case centered around civil rights and the limits of state enforcement power like this, after all.
Of course, and perhaps to the surprise of no one, DHS and ICE lawyers refused to provide those assurances. What's more, they declined a second time even after the plaintiff's attorneys made it clear the immunity they were seeking was related entirely to the act of testifying against the government in a legal setting. This then ultimately lead to the motion this story is primarily about.
“Noncitizen witnesses contacted by counsel have expressed concern that, if they testify at trial or are otherwise identified in connection with this case, Defendants will retaliate against them by arresting, detaining, or deporting them, denying them reentry into the United States, revoking their visas, adjusting their legal permanent resident status, or denying their pending or future naturalization applications,” the motion read.
Look, I don't want to suggest that this isn't bog standard Trumpenreich petty vindictiveness and racism, because the government's behavior here certainly is those things. But this lawsuit challenges not only the government's kidnapping and attempted deportation of foreign scholars and student protestors who speak out against a US-backed genocide being conducted by Israel in Gaza, but also the rapidly-expanding immigrant surveillance panopticon the regime is still constructing; even as cases against all this fascist ideological policing continue to successfully make their way through the courts. The regime has a lot of its militarized police state plans hinging on this case, and cases like it, so they're comfortable with openly intimidating witnesses with the threat of federal reprisal; and they don't seem to care if anyone, including judges, knows it.
Analysis isn't prophecy, but if I were a gambling woman I'd bet that the regime has plans to expand its protestor kidnapping program no matter what the outcome of the case against Khalil (and others) turns out to be.

At this point, we've now watched so many elected Democrat officials arrested or detained by regime-loyal security forces for nonviolently opposing Trump's fascist mass deportation project, that I could probably transform posts like this into a form letter. In case you hadn't heard, the Gestapo arrested NYC Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander on Tuesday, and briefly attempted to charge him with obstruction and assaulting a federal agent. Would you be surprised to learn that the Gestapo lied and Lander, a vaguely-progressive Democrat didn't assault anyone, it's unclear if he was even breaking a law, and the entire incident was captured on video? Well after the last three times the Gestapo or Trumenreich representatives lied about filmed political intimidation tactics against Democratic Mayor Ras Baraka, Democratic Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, or Democratic US Senator Alex Padilla, you probably shouldn't be.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/nyc-ice-brad-lander
'This Is Fascism': NYC Comptroller Brad Lander Arrested by ICE at an Immigration Court
"A video shared on Lander's nongovernment X account shows him holding on to a man and asking multiple times for officials to furnish a warrant. "I will let go when you show me the judicial warrant," Lander says in the video.
Lander is then separated from the man and pushed toward a wall and handcuffed. "You don't have the authority to arrest U.S. citizens," Lander says in the video. The video shows Lander then being escorted into an elevator."
As I alluded to at the top of this post, Lander has been released from custody, and the charges against him have been dropped. Apparently not even a crooked fascist Attorney General like Pam Bondi wants to argue that ICE agents manhandling a NYC Comptroller on film is actually assault *against* the Gestapo. It is however important to ask here if, had what I can only describe as the assault and confinement of Brad Lander not been captured on film, would the regime have continued to insist he assaulted an ICE pig? Who knows, but given how bullshit the charge was in the first place, I'm not willing to bet against it.
Now, there are those who will argue that Lander isn't legally in the right to have tried to warrant-check the Gestapo, because the law allows ICE pigs to kidnap migrants in public places without one, and Trump's unhinged DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has ended what was only a guideline to not consider courthouses a valid place to abduct brown people for (potentially) not having papers. This is unfortunately true, but there is a vast discrepancy between asking to see a judicial warrant because you don't understand our recently-altered fascist immigration guidelines, and accusations that refusing to let go of someone the Gestapo wanted to kidnap, amounts to assaulting a federal officer. Furthermore, there is a difference between legally right, and morally right; I'd be willing to wager that not one person who has ever cast a vote for Brad Lander at any level of government cares that nazi games of Simon Says allow the Gestapo to do this, and they almost certainly support Lander's opposition to Trump's mass deportation tactics, and the Comptroller's willingness to put his body on the line to try and stop this nazi bullshit. Regardless of what Noem's guidelines say, everyone who isn't a literal fucking fascist knows that Brad Lander is not the criminal in this story.
So all's well that ends well? Absolutely not. As I've discussed in the past, the fascist Trumpenreich regime is actively working to criminalize its political opposition, and acclimatize the American public to images of Democratic officials being led away in handcuffs for opposing the mighty God Emperor Trump or his fascist agenda. This isn't about conviction rates, or whether or not any of these cases go to trial; although I should point out that the absurd assault charges against Rep. LaMonica McIver are still outstanding. This is about sending a message to both Democrat politicians opposing the fascist mass deportation program, and the American people, and that message is "do not cross the Swine Emperor, and anyone who does is definitely a criminal."
A fascist dictatorship is not birthed from even a faux democracy like ours overnight. There is an installation process that involves acclimatizing the people to the logic and methodology of your authoritarian rule in advance, before you finally pull the string and shatter even the illusion of democracy. The Trump regime is clearly making a grand spectacle of slapping their Democrat opponents in handcuffs as part of that acclimatization process. And in that regard, they got what they wanted the moment the cuffs were slapped on Lander, even if everyone watching at home already knew the charges were bullshit.

Over the past couple of months I've written a lot about the rapid expansion of the already-formidable American surveillance state under Trump. Unfortunately, because the regime has cloaked this alarming and extremely dangerous expansion of the police state panopticon primarily inside the machinations of its immigration policies and mass deportation schemes, the vast majority of Very Serious People TM in our discourse are not properly assessing the danger this represents. Some might call that "ubiquitous US white supremacy in action," and those people would be absolutely correct. It is also however, extremely shortsighted because as I've noted many times, a dystopian panopticon police state for migrants, is a dystopian panopticon police state for everyone if the government wants it to be; and I think it's safe to say that Trump indeed desires as much.
To get a better idea of the scope of the problem I've been talking about, let's take a look at this Truthout article from last week.
https://truthout.org/articles/trump-is-rapidly-expanding-the-surveillance-state-as-protests-grow/
Trump Is Rapidly Expanding the Surveillance State as Protests Grow
"While mainstream media has framed the issue in terms of surveillance of immigrants, data on all Americans is being sucked into a growing digital dragnet. Guariglia and other privacy advocates are sounding the alarm over efforts by the Trump administration and its Silicon Alley partners to consolidate personal data on millions of people at the Social Security Administration and other federal agencies. As law enforcement increasingly turns to private companies to buy data instead of asking courts for search warrants, a data broker owned by major airlines has sold customer flight records and personal information to Customs and Border Patrol, according to an investigation by 404 Media.
“You are seeing that federal agents working under this current administration are very openly using surveillance technologies to trump our free speech, to completely violate our privacy, and not even giving personal privacy consideration anymore,” Tse said. “That is the thing that I am seeing that is new.”
I think to a degree it's still very hard for Americans, even cynical Americans raised in a post 9/11, post-Snowden leaks counterterrorism environment, to understand the degree to which technologies like facial recognition software, and so-called "AI" have supercharged a US state panopticon that is now more or less completely under the control of Swine Emperor Trump and his executive branch nazis. Furthermore, agencies like ICE, DHS, and the larger counterterrorism apparatus entwined throughout agencies like the FBI, and NSA, simply do not have the same level of oversight as even notoriously unsupervised local police forces because this entire police state panopticon was installed under the guise of fighting terrorism, which is more or less the President and the executive branch's purview in US government. These factors have always made the War on Terror panopticon a civil rights nightmare that has lead to numerous abuses by the Bush, Obama, and Biden governments over time; which is part of why giving that same panopticon "counterterrorism" police state to a guy like Trump, who thinks disagreeing with him publicly is tantamount to treason, or supporting terrorism, is an existential crisis in its own right.
Look folks, I know it isn't exactly news in the year 2025 that the government is spying on you, and we've even talked about some of the ways its doing so already. But you have to understand the sheer scope of what the Trump regime is doing here, and what AI-enabled oppression is going to look like. We're talking about the ability to integrate literally every aspect of your data and living footprint into one all seeing master computer that makes the punchcards they used to conduct the Holocaust in Germany look quaint. That means DNA, Healthcare data, traffic cameras, tax information, real time tracking technology, full identity theft folders from private data brokers, SSA and tax data, and so on; this is some actual Minority Report shit now. No matter how passé you thinking privacy rights discussions have become after Snowden's leaks, I cannot stress enough that this is a devil many orders of magnitude more dangerous than the police state we were dealing with a mere 6-8 years ago.
Which of course brings us back to a Trump regime arguing, in court, that being anti-genocide and pro-Palestine is a threat to national security, interfering with racialized Gestapo kidnappings is materially supporting terrorists, and nonviolent protests are actually an insurrection. It does not take a genius to look at the regime's ongoing war on both dissent and a broadly defined American left, as exemplified by Project Esther, and realize that the rapidly expanding "migrant" panopticon is also a rapidly expanding "anyone Trump doesn't like" panopticon.

Roughly 14 years and 20+ social media accounts ago, I first encountered "my favorite writer nobody else has ever heard of." Posting under the handle Mobute, it was actually part-time media critic Jeb Lund who ultimately convinced me that there was something to the idea of integrating a social media account, with a website or blog, to more accurately track with the way people under the age of 60 were actually getting their news and analysis content. In a very strange way, everything I've done on NIDC and the social media accounts attached to it, sprung out of enjoying Lund's unique style of writing, and watching how he moved seamlessly from critical essays, to ripping lanyards and nazis on social media, then back again.
Of course, time and the world's richest nazi (except maybe Putin) buying Twitter caused me to lose track of Lund and his work. So imagine my surprise when immediately after the one day general strike against ICE occupation in Minneapolis, a Jeb Lund essay published on Truthdig showed up in my direct message box. Furthermore, imagine my delight when I found that Jeb hadn't lost his fastball, and had indeed drifted much further to the left in the wake of the open and obvious fascist takeover of America; just as I, and almost every other analyst I talk with regularly have.
https://www.truthdig.com/articles/just-say-no/
Just Say ‘No’
"We can also say this: Wherever you live in the United States, the Trump administration is going to bring an ethnic cleansing near you, if not directly to you, and they are going to use every term except that one to describe what they are doing. They will not stop until they have ethnically cleansed the United States, and they do not care if you die. The only lesson each new body teaches them is how inconsequential it is to make the next one."
Quite frankly, I didn't just share this essay to go down memory lane. At the end of the day, what Jeb Lund is articulating here is more or less the central thesis of my own writing about the Trump administration's vision for America, the ethnic cleansing project he and Stephen Miller are conducting, and the Gestapo's role in transforming (in so much as that is even necessary) the United States into a fascist dictatorship - the Pork Reich. Yes it is a fascist dictatorship in progress, yes they are openly doing ethnic cleansing in our streets, no they don't care if you live or die so long as the stock market stays profitable for some, no the cavalry isn't coming to save us, and yes we have to rise up together on our own and beat back the forces of fascism or we're all fucking cooked.
In particular, I think Lund's most compelling argument for why we must all fight is that these people, this fascist order, clearly means to kill millions and millions of Americans for billionaire (cultists) whether you fight back or not. The author acknowledges that opposing a fascist regime can be dangerous, it might even get you killed, but then articulates all the ways this regime is at a minimum completely indifferent to the deaths of the American people it ostensibly represents, and at worst seems to be actively trying to kill us. And Lund isn't just waxing poetic about the Gestapo coming to your door some day either.
"They have already told all levels of law enforcement to take the gloves off, and they take care to look the other way when “officers are on scene” and a “shooting transpires” and “it eventuates” that you die. They don’t care if you are detained and some combination of filth, disease, malnourishment, injury, confiscation of your medication or “discipline” makes you die. They don’t care if your insurance rescinds your coverage and you die. They do not care if they eliminate Medicaid and Medicare, and you have to fly home and take care of your mom before she dies. They don’t care if you fly home to see her, and your plane collides with something and you die, and they don’t care if it’s blown apart by the debris from a Nazi’s rocket that was busy exploding over a protected wetland and you die.
They don’t care if you get measles, mumps or rubella and die. Sometime in early summer of 2020 was the last time they cared that anyone got COVID and died. They resented passing COVID relief, themselves defrauded it with lusty abandon, and, come the next pandemic, they will use their own crime as justification for the moral hazard of spending a cent to make sure you don’t die."
I don't want to just quote the whole essay here, he actually goes on for at least two more paragraphs pointing out all the ways the Trump regime is probably going to kill you anyway, even and perhaps especially if you don't lift a finger to oppose fascism. Lund then closes by pointing to Minneapolis as an example for us all about how to say "no" and what resistance looks like.
Naturally of course, even Lund couldn't get such a "radical message" published in a mainstream outlet. So I wanted to share it with you here.
Of course, any ethnic cleansing operation, and suppression of people opposed to it, is going to result in casualties. The Trump regime's ethnonationalist cleansing project, even in its nascent stages, cannot be accomplished without horrifying levels of violence, and yes, even murders. To the surprise of precisely no one who has observed how the rest of the Trump administration operates to cover its tracks and work in secrecy, the ICE Gestapo doesn't release information about its violent incidents. Most Americans inherently understand that this violence is occurring somewhere, but that knowledge merely simmers in the background until blatant evidence of Gestapo violence bursts into the public sphere, primarily through the work of citizen journalism - as in the case of the cold blooded executions of Renne Good, and Alex Pretti by Gestapo murderpigs attached to the CBP wing of the Trumpenreich DHS's ethnic cleansing project.
There are however efforts underway to pierce the Trump regime's veil of secrecy surrounding Gestapo violence. For example, at the very end of January 2026, the American Prospect used news reports, government data, and data from nonprofits, watchdogs, and immigration advocacy groups to create a living document to track how many people the Gestapo has injured or killed; to my knowledge, literally nobody else has compiled this data as of yet.
A Running Count of How Many People ICE Has Killed and Injured
"The Trump regime’s deportation monomania has left far more people dead and wounded than it wants you to know. Agents’ public executions of Renee Good and Alex Pretti have rightly drawn widespread fury, heartbreak, and action. And they are just two of the many more agents have murdered or caused to die in the field since January 2025. Even more people have died in immigration prison. And as for the people federal agents have merely injured? An official count doesn’t exist. There is no doubt that the regime is working overtime to hide the full scope of the terror campaign spreading across our country.
The Prospect launched this tracker to do our part to stop them from getting away with it. We are collecting data to bring the real harm into sharper focus and to counterbalance the mainstream media’s sanitation of what we would call “pogroms” if they were happening in any other country. Consider, for example, how The New York Times represents the deadly operation in Minnesota, under the title “Minneapolis Tensions.” Now consider if that would accurately reflect your anguish if modern-day slave catchers used your toddler as bait and then threw him in prison. Or if they marched your grandfather outside in the snow, wearing only his boxers. Or, God forbid, chased your beloved husband or brother or uncle to his death. Would “tensions” be good enough? No.
None of these deaths had to happen. All are a result of Trump’s racist mass deportation drive. They are a stain on our country and we refuse to forget."
As the Prospect notes, this dataset is of course incomplete and almost certainly represents a vast undercount of the number of violent incidents involving Kristi Noem's DHS forces (including ICE, and CBP). The hope with any living document, is that as more information about the violence and murders the Gestapo are responsible for leaks out, the dataset will become more complete. Even still, the Prospect has collected information on 25 people murdered, and 18 people injured during direct encounters with the Gestapo (obviously, the injury number is a VAST undercount), and 44 people people killed in custody - so murdered by our concentration camps.
Look folks, if you've been reading my writing long enough, you know full well that I believe this is just the tip of the iceberg and these folks are prepared to murder millions of people to get the fascist ethnostate of their dreams. But the reality is that we're not talking about a hypothetical future time when the DHS Gestapo will start killing people to do ethnic cleansing; they're already doing it, and they've budgeted to do a lot more of it in the future. This situation is not going to improve, when the Gestapo sucks down enough GOP budget dollars to become the 8th largest army on Earth, and we've already seen this machine been repurposed to target activists, journalists, and pretty much anyone who thinks maybe it's not a very good idea to have a Gestapo or worse, a Schutzstaffel, and do ethnic cleansing. The Trumpenreich's mass deportation project has already put at least 69 people in the ground in just over a single year and this is only just the beginning. I hate to keep beating the same drum, but a genocidal fascist police state prepared to do fucking murders to suppress migrants, is a genocidal fascist police state that will happily do the same no matter who Trump and Miller point them at.
#ICE #Fascism #Gestapo #Violence #Murder #EthnicCleansing #PoliceState #Trump #GOP #PorkReich #Genocide #Violence
As far back as 2017, I wrote that what is holding Trump back from becoming the genocidal dictator of his dreams, is a big enough army willing to accomplish his illegal ethnonationalist goals. Even now, as GOP budget funding feeds into Trump's turbo-charged police state, he lacks the ability to occupy multiple cities at once, and as Minneapolis demonstrated, the violent fascist goons necessary to control even the cities he occupies. Furthermore, Gestapo security forces the regime is forced to deploy to quell resistance to the ethnic cleansing project in our streets, are Gestapo forces that aren't actually doing the kidnappings necessary to feed Stephen Miller's insatiable demand for deportation numbers.
As I noted above, one of the ways Trump has tried to bridge the numbers gap between the army he has, and the Schutzstaffel of his dreams, is to recruit local police forces into roving "task force" agents that resemble nothing so much as slavecatchers, through the 287(g) program. This program, a longstanding bipartisan gift to racist sheriff's departments that want to play border cop or concentration camp jailer in their towns, has rapidly expanded under the Trump regime, and now former DHS employees are sounding the alarm that like ICE itself, these "deputized" murderpigs are being tasked with rounding people up for the color of the skin, with virtually no oversight whatsoever.
Ex-watchdogs warn rush to give power to local police in immigration crackdown risks ‘threat to civil rights’
“Taking a problematic enforcement program, that reintroduces models of enforcement that were discontinued because of demonstrable civil rights violations and super-sizing it while removing all internal guardrails, is more than alarming,” said Katerina Herodotou, one of the former CRCL officials who was ousted last year. “It is a threat to civil rights nationwide.”
This is a long article but the short story here is that immediately after taking power, the Trump regime gutted every civil rights and oversight division that would keep track of abuses by pigs operating under these 287(g) agreements. At the same time, DHS mandated a return to a "task force model" of rounding up migrants that had been phased out in 2012 after longtime Trump ally Sheriff Joe Arpaio was found running what was essential a migrant torture camp out of his jail in Arizona.
"Now deputized local officials can interrogate anyone they believe is in the US unlawfully about their immigration status in the course of their regular police work. And they can detain people and turn them over to ICE without the pretext of a criminal arrest, purely on suspicion of violating immigration law despite that being a federal, civil offense."
So, pigs that sign up for this program can behave exactly like Gestapo goons in Minneapolis, and because there's literally nobody assigned to police the police doing this, they definitely will. Now Americans don't have to wait for ICE to come to their town; local police forces can bring the Gestapo to our streets by proxy. Of course adoption of the program is (for now) voluntary, but there sure are a lot of police departments signing up.
"An increasing number of local law enforcement agencies throughout the country have signed 287(g) agreements in the past year to actively cooperate with ICE. In January 2025, fewer than 200 jurisdictions were involved. Now, more than 1,400 local, county and state agencies have signed on to aid DHS in its immigration enforcement work."
How is Trump getting police forces to sign up for a program that makes them Gestapo agents? Sure cops are racist, but they're also lazy. Would you believe by bribing them with money the GOP provided in the Big Fascism Bill?
"Big Beautiful Bill funding is now used for incentivizing local agencies to deputize more of their officers for ICE task forces, offering $7,500 for equipment per new task force officer, $100,000 for new vehicles per agency and full reimbursement for the salary and benefits of each task force officer."
The Trumpenreich has even instituted a bonus program for murderpigs that round up migrants well.
"The Trump administration in October also began offering “monetary performance awards” to local agencies based on the number of undocumented immigrants they identify, including up to $1,000 per officer, per quarter. One CRCL official was shocked to learn of this.
“They have essentially set up a bounty hunter system and are incentivizing local/state law enforcement to detain anyone who appears to be undocumented,” they told the Guardian."
Folks, the Trump regime is turning local police into their white nationalist Gestapo and paying slavecatcher bounties to murderpigs who kidnap migrants. I don't know what it will take for Americans to realize we're already living in the Pork Reich, but it sure does feel like it's time to stop pretending.

looks like the process of ICE buying warehouses in order to turn them into concentration camps is going as expected: "ICE bought a warehouse in Social Circle, Ga. The city wishes it hadn't"
"While other attempts to lease or buy properties like this one on East Hightower Road in Social Circle have fallen apart, this one is a done deal. A sales deed shows DHS paid just under $129 million for the space.
Social Circle City Manager Eric Taylor really wishes it hadn't.
"This is not something, hands down, that the city can support," Taylor said."
"The frustration here is that they're looking at a building that was not built for human habitation," Taylor said. "There's nothing more than a shell of a building."
"In Social Circle, Eric Taylor said he would like consultation, too, but ICE won’t answer his calls. If it did, he would tell ICE: The city doesn’t have enough drinking water."

Dear Sen / Rep --
We have seen the testimony of Todd Lyons (the acting head of ICE), Rodney Scott (the head of CBP), and Citizenship and Immigration Services director Joseph Edlow.
They do not think their employees are doing anything wrong. I do, and I want to know what you are going to do now.
The stories continue of 70 people crammed in a tiny cell with limited food and water for weeks at a time. DHS officers are beating people, breaking bones, zip tying teenagers, denying access to lawyers, and ignoring court orders. No one holds DHS accountable for the violence and the violations of the Constitution.
We see refugees and documented asylum seekers held incommunicado for weeks despite being legally in this country. No one holds DHS accountable for this.
I see Republicans in Congress respond by seeking legislation to punish Americans exercising their First Amendment rights.
I want to know your plan. Do we let DHS continue to trample the Constitution? Do we green-light Republican plans to crack down on free speech?
The people are in the streets demanding change. I write to you constantly demanding change.
Defend the Constitution. This Republican Administration sees no need for DHS reform. We the people do.
Which side are you on?

Persians archaeology
Over 2,400 years ago, ancient Persians achieved an incredible feat of engineering by creating ice in the middle of the desert. They built a remarkable structure called a Yakhchal, or "Ice Pit," which allowed them to produce and store ice even in scorching heat. These dome-shaped structures, often made from mud bricks, were designed to keep ice cool through a combination of insulation and clever design.
The Yakhchal worked by harnessing the power of nature. During cold winter nights, water was channeled into shallow pools where it froze. The ice was then cut into blocks and stored inside the Yakhchal. The thick walls and underground storage space provided excellent insulation, keeping the ice from melting even during the hottest months. Some Yakhchals also featured windcatchers, which funneled cool air into the structure, further preserving the ice.
This ancient technology not only provided a way to store ice but also allowed Persians to enjoy chilled foods and beverages long before modern refrigeration. The Yakhchal stands as a testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of ancient civilizations, showcasing how they adapted to their environment with innovative solutions. Today, these structures remain a fascinating example of early engineering and a reminder of humanity's ability to overcome challenges with creativity and skill.

I didn't post this because previously it was purported CCTV footage and could have been anything. But now it's been verified as a news story.
#ICE faked car trouble to get a helpful person to come help them, and they grabbed and disappeared him.
They are doing every taboo thing that G-d or gods cursed peoples for. Doing violence to the people who made them food, parading good food in front of captive children and then making them eat worms.
I'm getting sick of saying "yes the Trump regime is unquestionably fascist" because at some point, the evidence that they are a bunch of repugnant nazis is so extensive, you have to be willfully ignorant to keep pretending this is still up for debate; as many big media outlets in the US appear to be doing. This story however, brings us to a point where I feel compelled to point out not only that the Trump regime is definitely fascist, but these assclown nazi pigs are also, objectively speaking, evil.
As part of its unconstitutional scheme to traffic migrants, without due process, to a slave labor prison in El Salvador in order to wage a made up war against "gangs" and "Venezuela" apparently, Trump's DHS has admitted they "accidentally" deported a Maryland man, Abrego Garcia, who is A) married to a US citizen B) has a five year old disabled child, and C) had a judge's order *not* to deport him to El Salvador.
Trump Administration Admits Accidentally Deporting Maryland Father to El Salvador Mega Prison
“Although [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] was aware of his protection from removal to El Salvador, Abrego Garcia was removed to El Salvador because of an administrative error,” the government admitted in response to Abrego Garcia’s complaint.
The government nevertheless argued in its filing that the court can’t order officials to bring Abrego Garcia home because he’s not in U.S. custody. The Trump administration is paying El Salvador to jail him, but the U.S. can’t force El Salvador to return the jailed men, the government claims.
It can only “entreat” or “cajole” its “close ally,” according to the filing.
“They claim that the court is powerless to order any relief,” Abrego Garcia’s attorney, Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, told The Atlantic. “If that’s true, the immigration laws are meaningless—all of them—because the government can deport whoever they want, wherever they want, whenever they want, and no court can do anything about it once it’s done.”
Holy sweet fuck; let me restate that for clarity. The US govt just admitted, in court, that they unlawfully "deported" a guy who has been working and raising a family peacefully in the US for years while seeking *legal* asylum, despite a judge's order not to, as part of a nazi kabuki theater human trafficking (deportation, requires a hearing before an immigration judge) scheme. Despite this, the regime's lawyers are arguing, simultaneously, that they can't get him back because he's not in US custody, and they aren't obligated to obey a judge's order to return him because US courts don't have jurisdiction over El Salvador.
Wait, it gets better because the U.S. government is *also* arguing that they shouldn't have to do anything to correct this "mistake" because the man isn't in danger, and "even if Abrego Garcia is being wrongfully imprisoned, he hasn’t suffered irreparable harm." This is despite both the 2019 judge's order granted because Garcia was “more likely than not” to face persecution" in his country of origin (El Salvador), *and* a 2023 US State Dept report that "found credible reports that inmates in El Salvador had been electrocuted, tortured, and beaten to death." Finally it should be mentioned that the regime hasn't offered any legal reason (beyond "oopsie") for why it was trying to deport Garcia in the first place, given that even if Trump's bullshit invocation of the Alien Enemies Act walks in court somehow, Garcia isn't Venezuelan, and the state's own filing calls El Salvador a "close ally" - meaning we're not even at *fake* war with them in the Trump regime's own bubble of unreality.
Naturally, if the US wasn't being run by maliciously evil fascists, one might expect some degree of contrition; but that's not how the Pork Reich rolls. Vice President JD Vance took to social media to justify the actions his regime's own lawyers just admitted were a "mistake" by spewing fact-free excuses about MS-13 that had to be corrected multiple times because Vance didn't even read the government's own filing. As the article notes, even Vance's lies about gangs made no sense because ICE's previous case against Garcia (from 2019) was based on the testimony of one anonymous source and fell apart when the state couldn't produce anyone to testify; which is why he was still in the country and granted protected status while he sought asylum.
Folks, this wasn't a mistake; when you purposely ignore all the legal processes designed to prevent "mistakes" like this, we call that criminal negligence. The Trump regime wanted planes full of nonwhite migrants to display like war trophies on prime time TV, and Garcia fit the bill. They didn't care about the law; his skin tone and status as an asylum seeker made him an acceptable target. The cruelty was the point, which is why they don't want to return Garcia even after admitting their "mistake."

Speaking of the important legal principle that is "because I said so," Trump's Border Czar and noted Fury Road villain Tom Homan recently responded to questions about who determines if a person targeted for deportation is in a gang and how do they do so, with almost literally - "just trust us bro."
https://truthout.org/articles/trump-border-czar-ices-word-is-enough-to-prove-someones-a-gang-member/
Trump Border Czar: ICE’s Word Is Enough to Prove Someone’s a Gang Member
"Tom Homan, President Donald Trump’s so-called “border czar,” has said that nothing more than the word of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent is needed to prove that a noncitizen living in the U.S. is a gang member, and thus subject to deportation.
Trump signed an executive order earlier this year asserting his right to use the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport immigrants living in the U.S. if they are deemed by the administration to be violent gang members. Hundreds of migrants have been deported on that basis, even though an analysis by CBS News found that nearly three-quarters of the people sent to a prison in El Salvador had no criminal record at all.
Those who have been deported have largely been denied their due process rights, which would have allowed them to argue against being indiscriminately labeled as a gang member by the administration.
In an interview with Axios that was published on Tuesday, Homan appeared to dismiss those concerns, claiming, without evidence, that even those with no criminal history are members of violent gangs."
My favorite Trump regime stories are the ones where you can tell the government is lying, but even if they weren't their excuses wouldn't matter anyway.
Homan wants us to believe that ICE is doing "deep dive" investigative work into whether or not migrants targeted as part of a human trafficking scheme to ship people to a slave labor prison in El Salvador, are members of a gang; which would be pretty implausible if you looked at how fast they're finding and deporting people, but becomes almost laughable when the regime is openly admitting it just deported an innocent man who had a judge's order protecting him from deportation a little over a week ago. I'm sure there were a crack squads of Gestapo investigators working around the clock on making sure these were gang members when they deported *checks notes* the soccer player with a Real Madrid tattoo, and the guy with an autistic brother and an autism acceptance movement tattoo as well; gimme a break. The entire line of argument was also rendered irrelevant however when Homan admitted, in the same interview, that it's just vibes:
"But ultimately, he said, if an ICE agent suspected someone of being in a gang, that was all the evidence needed.
“ICE is the principal arbiter” in making these determinations, Homan said."
Of course, all of this ignores that no matter how objectionable we may find gangs in our society, it's not actually illegal to be in a gang - which will be news to racist police officers all over the country, but isn't to the District Attorneys who prosecute actual crimes. Furthermore, let us remember that these human trafficking flights (people are being kidnapped, transported to a slave labor prison, and money is changing hands) are themselves being justified by a wholly made up invasion, by a gang with reportedly less than a thousand people in the United States, that is sekretly a terrorist arm of the Venezuelan government pretty much entirely because Trump said so in an executive order; nothing about this fascist shitshow is based on facts, evidence, or reality.

To all the folks who told me "its' not a constitutional crisis yet," "you can't call them nazis," or "it is not yet time to rise up and resist" by grinding the gears of the machine to a halt with our bodies if necessary, my only question is - what now?
Citing the president's absolute power over “foreign relations," the Trump regime has announced that it has no obligation, nor intention to return Kilmar Abrego García, the Maryland man trafficked to a Salvadoran slave labor prison by "mistake," despite multiple court orders and a 9-0 SCOTUS ruling instructing them to do so.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/14/trump-doj-return-man-wrongly-deported-el-salvador
Trump DoJ says not legally bound to return man wrongly deported to El Salvador
"The comments came a day after the Trump administration claimed it is not legally obligated to secure the return of the man, Kilmar Abrego García,, despite the US supreme court ruling that the administration should “facilitate” bringing him back.
Lawyers for the justice department argued in court filings on Sunday that asking El Salvador to return Abrego García from a notorious mega-prison should be considered “foreign relations”, and was therefore outside the scope of the courts.
The filing said “the federal courts have no authority to direct the Executive Branch to conduct foreign relations in a particular way, or engage with a foreign sovereign in a given manner,” adding: “That is the ‘exclusive power of the president as the sole organ of the federal government in the field of international relations.”
Earlier this month, the Trump administration acknowledged that Abrego García, an immigrant from El Salvador who was living in Maryland with protected status, was deported to a prison in El Salvador on 15 March as a result of an “administrative error”. In 2019 an immigration judge had prohibited the federal government from deporting him."
Folks, we are through the looking glass now and if you can't see that it's one and truly fascism, that's because you don't know what the word means. Apologists will claim that we are still not yet in a "constitutional crisis" because of the regime's paper thin excuse that they're interpreting the SCOTUS ruling to mean all they had to do is remove "domestic" barriers to Garcia's return, while claiming they have no authority to effect the return of a man they're literally paying the government of El Salvador to house in a prison famous for torture and forced labor. This is at best, wish-casting and codswallop of course, because the regime is openly broadcasting its intention to flout the Supreme Court's ruling *while* Trump meets with Nayib Bukele, the President of El Salvador at the White House; these fascist mutherfuckers just said "let them enforce it" while trolling the shit out of every judge in America. Just examine some of the comments from Bukele and Trump regime officials for yourself:
“How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? I’m not going to do it,” says Bukele. “I don’t have the power to return him to the United States.”
“The foreign policy of the United States is conducted by the president of the United States, not by a court. And no court in the United States has a right to conduct the foreign policy of the United States,” Marco Rubio adds."
“The [supreme court] ruling solely stated that if this individual at El Salvador’s sole discretion was sent back to our country, that we could deport him a second time,” Stephen Miller says.
"No version of this legally ends with him ever living here because he is a citizen of El Salvador."
"In 2019 two courts ruled that he was a member of MS13 and he was illegally in our country. Right now, it was additional paperwork had needed to be done. That’s up to El Salvador if they want to return him – that’s not up to us. The supreme court ruled that if El Salvador wants to return him, we would ‘facilitate’ it, meaning provide a plane." - US Attorney General, Pam Bondi.
During that same meeting with Bukele, Trump once again admitted that he also wants to pay to send American "criminals" to a slave labor prison in El Salvador his regime is simultaneously arguing that the US government has no requirement, power, or authority to return prisoners from, even under court order. Need I remind you that this is the same administration currently saying in public that a wide variety of protestors are actually domestic fucking terrorists? Please understand that if the Trump regime can successfully argue that it can keep a man they already admitted should not have been deported, in a Salvadoran prison despite the law, and a direct SCOTUS order, because once they've sent him there its a matter of foreign policy and jurisdictional authority, then there is absolutely nothing stopping them from sending ANYONE to Cecot and claiming it's too late to undo this. The regime is now attempting to legalize disappearing its perceived enemies; full stop.

Fascist Word Games and the Birth of an American Dictatorship
"Step by step the Christian Nationalist Trump regime has followed a playbook that transforms fascist propaganda into administrative reality, while purposely fracturing the rule of law to liberate itself from judicial oversight. If the United States was a Middle Eastern oil-producing nation full of Muslims, our government would be openly advocating for an invasion to “liberate” the American people and stop “tyranny.” Of course, maybe none of that matters anyway because unless someone stops him, there will be no law in this country except Trump’s word, and no America to save, except what Trump wills America to be."

In an act of profound petulance and cruelty that is very reminiscent of the Bush regime's attempts to silence critics of the War on Terror, Trump's Gestapo has literally doxed Abrego Garcia's family for their father's crime of uh, being wrongfully trafficked to a torture prison in El Salvador by mistake, apparently.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/el-salvador-prison-trump
Abrego Garcia Family Flees to Safe House After Trump DHS Posts Home Address on Social Media
"The Trump administration has not only sent Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a Salvadoran megaprison due to an "administrative error" and so far refused to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court order to facilitate his return to the United States, but also shared on social media the home address of his family in Maryland, forcing them to relocate.
The news that Abrego Garcia's wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, and her children were "moved to a safe house by supporters" after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted to X a 2021 order of protection petition that Vasquez Sura filed but soon abandoned was reported early Tuesday by The Washington Post.
"I don't feel safe when the government posts my address, the house where my family lives, for everyone to see, especially when this case has gone viral and people have all sorts of opinions," said Vasquez Sura. "So, this is definitely a bit terrifying. I'm scared for my kids."
At this point we've all heard "the cruelty is the point" enough times that it's become a catchphrase, but I am consistently stunned by the Trump regime's ability to find new and more appalling ways to lower the bar for pettiness and a lack of human decency. There is absolutely no way you're ever going to convince me DHS and the White House didn't just expose Garcia's wife and children to the ire of Trump's white nationalist base on purpose, and I think the lack of comment from the regime makes it clear that I'm right about that.
As I've mentioned before, the problem with nearly every Trump administration authoritarian operation is that they're all a Russian nesting doll of fascist fuckery that start out wrong on the merits, and just get more outrageous and disconnected from reality as the situation evolves. The regime had no legal authority to traffic any of the men it sent to CECOT to a foreign torture prison for what appear to be mostly the civil violation of being in America without documentation; full stop. It doesn't matter if they're in a gang, even though most of them apparently weren't. It doesn't matter if they're guilty of a criminal offense, even though most of them apparently weren't. And it doesn't matter if they were husband of the year, even though every family member that has come forward have all demanded the return of their loved ones. Deportation is a legal process that requires the government to prove they have a valid reason to remove a person from the country, and the defendant gets a chance to argue against that evidence. Whatever happened here, kidnapping brown men with tattoos to then traffic them to a torture prison in El Salvador, they weren't deportations and they weren't legal.
The kidnapping, trafficking and continued detention of Abrego Garcia however is even more outrageous and appalling because the government has already admitted multiple times in court that it was a mistake that never should have happened, even by the twisted fascist logic the regime is using to justify the rest of the "deportations." Now after getting waxed multiple times in court, including a 6-3 fascist high Supreme Court that sits three Trump-appointed judges, and a grotesque attempt to provoke a constitutional crisis over the matter, the regime is petulantly refusing to return Garcia to the United States and seeking retribution for the indignity of being told they can't do this fascist bullshit, by terrorizing Garcia's wife and children.
I'm a prison abolitionist myself, but if we're going to have prisons whether I like them or not, then let me be the first to say Stephen Miller, Karoline Leavitt, and literally all the mutherfuckers in Trump's DHS, should be in fucking prison right now. This is outrageous and the word Nixonian doesn't do the fascist fuckery on display here enough justice.

Honestly my friends, I'm running out of new ways to say that the Trump administration are a bunch of lawless fascists whose maximalist views on power put them in direct opposition to a US constitution and American legal tradition that is on the whole, extremely friendly to the exercise of executive power. There appears to be no article of law, no regulation, no rule they won't violate in their objectively nazi quest to create a white ethnostate; at this point I half expect the Trump regime to try to find a workaround to the rarely-remembered Third Amendment so they can force every American family to quarter an ICE agent in their home.
If you think I'm being hyperbolic, keep in mind that I'm only going off the information the Trump regime writes down in its own internal memos. Take for example this Department of Justice guideline arguing that ICE has the legal authority to conduct warrantless home invasions in search of "suspected" Venezuelan gang members, because Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act as a kind of Uno-reverso card to every piece of civil rights legislation in US history.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/ice-warrantless-search
DOJ Memo Shows Trump Admin Ordered ICE to Conduct Warrantless Home Invasions
"Lee Gelernt, the ACLU's lead counsel in cases challenging use of the AEA, told USA Today: "The administration's unprecedented use of a wartime authority during peacetime was bad enough. Now we find out the Justice Department was authorizing officers to ignore the most bedrock principle of the Fourth Amendment by authorizing officers to enter homes without a judicial warrant."
Monique Sherman, an attorney at the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network, expressed alarm over the DOJ memo.
"The home under all constitutional law is the most sacred place where you have a right to privacy," Sherman told USA Today. "By this standard, spurious allegations of gang affiliation means the government can knock down your door."
As Georgetown University Law Center professor Steve Vladeck said, "There's no Alien Enemies Act exception to the Fourth Amendment."
As I've indicated elsewhere, I'm not a lawyer; but as someone who has spent many years studying fascism, authoritarianism, and police states, I'm pretty sure you don't issue a Department of Justice order like that unless you *intend* to use ICE to start going house to house in American communities; and once a fascist government has granted itself the power to do that, it really doesn't matter why they claim they're doing so anymore. This is quite literally the beginnings of the dystopian police state winger prepper reactionaries are always going on about, and in anything resembling a functioning democracy US Attorney General Pam Bondi would be arrested immediately for even signing it. As both the article and your middle school civics class note, absolutely none of this is legal no matter what ancient laws Trump tries to invoke and the DoJ is basically telling ICE to ignore the Fourth Amendment of the US Constitution, "because we say so."
The question then remains, does the Trump regime even care if the fascist bullshit they're doing is legal? Even under a Calvinball winger interpretation of US law? Signals on that front are so far mixed; on one hand the regime continues arguing its nonsensical theories in court, but on the other hand they stand in violation of several court orders already and are for example, making no effort to bring Abrego Garcia home from a torture prison in El Salvador, despite a 9-0 SCOTUS ruling that they must do so.
On some level I imagine that ICE goons might ignore a DoJ order that tells them to violate the Constitution, but the reason Trump has always used ICE as his personal Gestapo gives me pause. The agency self-selects for nativists who don't mind authoritarian repression or violence, and Trump's vast power over immigration matters as president, means ICE is largely his to control - at least through a Department of Homeland Security the regime has stacked full of white nationalists and fascist freaks. In other words, I don't really know what happens if and when the Trump regime orders ICE to go for the full V for Vendetta experience; but it probably isn't good, and I'm not keen on finding out if Der Leader's private Gestapo cares about the Constitution at all.
I'm not a psychic, but it is increasingly becoming clear to me that the fascist Trump administration knows it cannot accomplish its goals without a loyal, empowered, and ideologically aligned force of police state thugs. The fact that they're casting about the margins of the US legal system to empower ICE to be that army of goons, tells you they have plans to use that power. For what? I don't know, but authoritarian police state powers to enter American homes to fight a made up war against "gangs," have far more potential uses to a fascist regime than just mass deportations.

Hey, someone finally worked up the courage to ask Downmarket Mussolini a real question. In a contentious ABC interview Trump openly admitted what we all know but much of our media and political establishment is pretending was in question; the Klepto Kaiser *can* get Kilmar Abrego Garcia back from a torture prison in El Salvador with a mere phone call, he just doesn't want to and he's hiding behind his lawyers to get away with trafficking an innocent man to a foreign concentration camp.
Trump’s Tirade at Reporter Wrecks His Own Case Against Abrego Garcia
"In the interview, ABC News’s Terry Moran pointed out that Trump has the power to pick up the phone, call El Salvador’s president Nayib Bukele, and with the “power of the presidency” get Bukele to release him.
“I could,” Trump replied. “If he were the gentleman that you say he is, I would do that.”
At the most basic level, this destroys one of the Trump administration’s central arguments for leaving Abrego Garcia to rot in an El Salvadoran gulag. Administration officials say they have no power to compel Bukele to release him, because it would intrude on Salvadoran sovereignty to dictate that country’s treatment of one of its own.
But Trump just admitted that if he called Bukele and asked him to do this, his fellow dictator would in fact comply. This wrecks the fake distinction upon which Trump has hung his whole argument—the one between compelling Bukele to release Abrego Garcia and merely requesting that Bukele do so."
I've never been a fan of Sargent's writing either, so I'll save you the click through - as the author notes Trump also said a number of other very revealing things when the ABC reporter went in harder:
- when Moran pointed out that Trump's own answer meant he was violating a Supreme Court Order, Der Leader shifted the blame to his lawyers. As Sargent points out, this isn't an adequate answer because that means either Trump's lawyers are running the country, or he's *knowingly* violating multiple court orders.
- when pressed on the government's argument that Garcia is an MS-13 gang member, Trump said that the Maryland man had "MS-13" tattooed across his knuckles. As the reporter pointed out, Garcia does not; he has a leaf, a smiley face, a cross. and a skull, which the government labeled as meaning "MS-13" in a photo Trump himself displayed for news cameras, despite the fact that experts who study the gang have never seen those symbols associated with MS 13.
- after Moran told Trump the government had digitally altered the picture of Garcia's hand tattoos, Der Leader tossed his spaghetti. In an exchange that I think says a lot about how Trump sees the media's role in covering his presidency, the president snapped "Terry, they're giving you the big break of a lifetime. I picked you. But you're not being very nice."
I don't think it's time to break out the commemorative "All the President's Men" glasses just yet, but it is nice to see a mainstream corporate media outlet get into the weeds a little bit when Trump is openly lying into a camera, and you can definitely see why the White House is trying to stack the press pool full of Fox reporters, Newsmax hosts, and fascist Youtubers. Unravelling the regime's enforced unreality and governance by conspiracy theory is frightfully easy if you get to ask Trump any follow up questions.
In terms of the substance of what Trump said however, yeah I think he just hung himself on camera; for whatever that's even worth given the lawless behavior of the Trumpenreich regime. Trump could bring Garcia back, he just doesn't want to because he says Garcia is a "gang member" even though the government hasn't proven that, and won't ever be able to prove that in court.
"The evidence for Abrego Garcia’s alleged MS-13 ties is extremely thin. It’s largely based on the testimony of a Maryland cop who was suspended soon after and indicted for serious professional misconduct involving the sharing of confidential information with a sex worker. He pleaded guilty and was removed from the force.
The MS-13 claim isn’t just a vile smear. The idea that Abrego Garcia poses a severe public safety threat is the foundation for the administration’s entire rationale for not bringing him back and attempting to remove him again via lawful channels. Note that Trump suggested to Moran that if Abrego Garcia were not a gang member, Trump would bring him back.
So the administration should have to answer for the fact that the whole basis for not doing so is largely the finding of one disgraced cop. Yet neither Trump nor any senior administration officials have ever been questioned on this point."
Yes.

So given that everything else about the Trump regime's plot to traffic over 250 migrants to a forever torture prison in El Salvador without due process under the guise of fighting an "invasion" by a "narco-terrorist" gang turned out to be a lie, illegal, or straight up fascist fuckery, would it surprise you at all to learn that US intelligence agencies do *not* think Tren de Aragua is working with the government of Venezuela to invade the United States? Yeah, me neither; but the fact that the Trump regime knowingly just made up the so-called "invasion" fundamentally undercuts their entire argument for invoking the Alien Enemies Act, which in turn means they have no legal basis whatsoever for all the fascist repression and unconstitutional criminality they've engaged in here.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/trump-venezuelan-gangs
'They Just Made Sh*t Up': Declassified Spy Memo Undercuts Trump Pretext for Deportations to El Salvador
"A memo released Monday by the Trump administration in response to a Freedom of Information Act request confirmed that U.S. intelligence agencies never agreed with President Donald Trump's claim in March that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro controls the criminal gang Tren de Aragua—an assertion that was used to justify sending hundreds of migrants to a notorious Salvadoran prison.
The document said that "while Venezuela's permissive environment enables TDA to operate, the Maduro regime probably does not have a policy of cooperating with TDA and is not directing TDA movement to and operations in the United States."
As in several previous cases it's important to understand that the regime's lies and illegal manipulations of US law are being exposed by their own internal memos; this isn't a political attack or about motivated reasoning because the Trump administration itself wrote down that they knew Trump was lying, or at least that US intelligence didn't agree with his assessment of Tren de Aragua as an arm of the Venezuelan government. The regime tries to cover that up with vague nonsense about FBI intelligence but one of these groups is paid to monitor the activities of foreign governments the US is actively sanctioning, and one of them gets paid to convince unstable people they're secretly in ISIS to justify an ongoing counterterrorism program that's worth billions of dollars in funding; so I'll let you decide for yourself which of these two groups is more likely to know what they're talking about here. In other words, folks arguing that Trump was governing by fascist conspiracy theory and the regime literally made up a fake war to do white nationalist mass deportations, were completely, and totally correct; full stop.
"So you mean kidnapping folks off the streets and sending them to a foreign gulag was not justified by our own intelligence?" said the Arkansas Justice Project. "They just made shit up to dog whistle their base. The AEA argument was never legitimate and they knew it all along."
Frankly I do understand the temptation to scoff "so, what; we already knew that" in response to this news. But I need folks to realize that while it may have been obvious to anyone paying attention that the regime literally made up a whole invasion to justify their fascist mass deportation theater operation, the entire US establishment has more or less been pretending that it's somehow *possible* Trump is right about Tren de Aragua working for Venezuela to undermine American national security. As the article notes, until very recently not one judge has questioned the underlying logic of Trump's invocation of the Alien Enemies Act or its debunked claims that Tren de Argua is an arm of the Venezuelan government. While the regime has received a modicum more pushback in the media, without direct confirmation that Trump is definitely (instead of just obviously) lying, news outlets have been reluctant to push back when the regime claims they're fighting a narco-terrorist invasion to justify their fascist repression and criminality. Will that change now that we've caught the regime lying through their own memos? Who knows, but it probably won't hurt.
The big picture analysis here is that Trump hacked the imperial presidency and an American war machine already in largely bipartisan agreement that Venezuela represents an "enemy" of the United States, to do his fascist mass depuration schemes. The machine couldn't, or didn't want to see that Trump was obviously lying, because lying about Venezuela and portraying Nicolás Maduro as a international supervillain is already such a normalized part of American foreign policy that pushing back on Trump would undermine the American imperial project. With the declassification of this memo however, the fig leaf has been shredded and the US establishment is going to have choose between imperialism and preventing a fascist takeover in America.

Because the Pork Reich is maniacally dedicated to ensuring I never have a calm Friday evening again, Trump's unofficial minister of blatantly nazi shit, Stephen Miller, just threatened to suspend the writ of habeas corpus unless courts start ruling in favor of Trump's mass deportation schemes, during a press briefing in front of the White House.
https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/09/trump-deportation-habeas-corpus-miller.html
Trump administration ‘looking at’ suspending habeas corpus for migrants, Stephen Miller says
"White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller said Friday that the Trump administration is “actively looking at” suspending the writ of habeas corpus — the constitutional right to challenge in court the legality of a person’s detention by the government — for migrants.
Miller’s comment came in response to a White House reporter who asked about President Donald Trump entertaining the idea of suspending the writ to deal with the problem of illegal immigration into the United States.
Asked when that might happen, Miller responded: “The Constitution is clear, and that, of course, is the supreme law of the land, that the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus can be suspended in time of invasion.”
“So, I would say that’s an option we’re actively looking at,” he said."
Let me start by saying that I am consistently surprised at how much mind-blowingly disingenuous fascist bullshit noted hate-goblin Stephen Miller is capable of cramming into a few short sentences. What Miller is arguing by implication here, is that Trump can use the absolutely fake "invasion" he's trying to use to justify invoking the Alien and Enemies Act, a justification that has already been called into question in one court with more likely to follow, to also justify suspending the legal right to challenge your detention by authorizes, in a court of law. In what is not at all a coincidence, a number of the "deportation" (read: kidnapping) cases the Trump regime keeps losing in court, including those against foreign anti-genocide student protestors, revolve around the violation of the writ of habeas corpus. Furthermore, while Miller is clearly threatening this clear act of authoritarian bullshit in regards to the regime's various plots to mass deport migrants, the fact of the matter is there's only one writ of habeas corpus; if Trump can suspend it to traffic migrants to foreign torture prisons, he'll be suspending the right to challenge state detention for everybody so long as the "invasion" the regime completely made up, remains "ongoing." In other words, migrant or otherwise, this how you start herding people who won't obey a fascist dictator into American prisons or concentration camps.
Furthermore, the rest of Miller's comments make it clear that the regime is at least threatening to usurp the American judiciary, unless they start giving Trump favorable rulings in cases against his mass deportation efforts.
"Miller said that Congress had stripped federal courts of jurisdiction over immigration cases with the Immigration and Nationality Act.
“The courts aren’t just at war with the executive branch, the courts are at war, these radical rogue judges, with the legislative branch as well,” Miller said.
“So all of that will inform the choices the president ultimately makes.”
While it is indeed true that numerous American laws and statues give the President far too much authority over all immigration matters, Miller is openly lying when he implies federal courts have no jurisdiction over immigration cases; and even if he were correct, the right to due process comes from the US Constitution and is granted to everyone in the United States, citizen or otherwise. Miller knows this, he just doesn't fucking care and is prepared to drum up a fascist conspiracy about radical left wing judges (including Trump appointees) to justify imploding the rule of law if it can get him closer to his precious white ethnostate.
Needless to say, absolutely none of this is based on reality or is strictly-speaking, legal. Unfortunately, sending Stephen Miller out to threaten the writ of habeas corpus to leverage cooperation from a judicial branch consistently ruling that Trump's mass deportation schemes are illegal, or based on fascist conspiracy theories that have no foundation in reality, signals that the regime is growing tired of caring about the rule of law entirely. If Trump gets away with this, either through suspending habeas corpus or bullying judges into legitimizing his illegal mass deportation efforts, the framework Miller is using here will remain in place for as long as Trump wants it to; certainly long enough to start rounding up his political opposition and anyone else the regime doesn't like.

I want to start with a short look at a current story from Reuters, because I think it exemplifies the way the Trump regime's brazen lawlessness and criminality, dovetails perfectly with the larger fascist project to transform America into both a white ethnostate, and a fascist dictatorship; under Swine Emperor Trump, and of course his odious shadow chancellor, Stephen Miller. As the title of the piece indicates, judges across the US have ruled over 4,000 times that ICE is illegally detaining migrants and yet the regime continues to openly break the law to do so, because they wish legal precedent agreed with their "novel" interpretation of the law; it doesn't.
https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/courts-have-ruled-4400-times-that-ice-jailed-people-illegally-it-hasnt-stopped-2026-02-14/ (archived: https://archive.ph/uNDJX )
Courts have ruled 4,400 times that ICE jailed people illegally. It hasn’t stopped.
"Hundreds of judges around the country have ruled more than 4,400 times since October that President Donald Trump’s administration is detaining immigrants unlawfully, a Reuters review of court records found.
The decisions amount to a sweeping legal rebuke of Trump’s immigration crackdown. Yet the administration has continued jailing people indefinitely even after courts ruled the policy was illegal.
"It is appalling that the Government insists that this Court should redefine or completely disregard the current law as it is clearly written," U.S. District Judge Thomas Johnston of West Virginia, an appointee of President George W. Bush, wrote last week, ordering the release of a Venezuelan detainee in the state.
Most of the rulings center on the Trump administration’s departure from a nearly three-decade-old interpretation of federal law that immigrants already living in the United States could be released on bond while they pursue their cases in immigration court."
The basic issue here is that the Trump regime and its Gestapo, want to hold migrants they've kidnapped in concentration camps without bail, while they wait for their immigration court dates. The law however, specifically the foundational legal principle of habeas corpus, disagrees. In response, the regime is simply ignoring the law and detaining everyone they kidnap even after they've received a court date, unless directly ordered by a judge to release a specific individual. This has resulted in the filing of more than 20,200 federal lawsuits (almost all of which the government *will* ultimately lose because the law doesn't work the way Stephen Miller wishes it did) to free kidnapped immigrants being held in US concentration camps.
Why? Well as the article notes, not everyone can afford or otherwise has an opportunity to file a habeas corpus petition in court, nor are there enough lawyers or judges to hear all these cases in a timely manner, leading to long delays; all while people suffer inside a Gestapo concentration camp intentionally designed to torture its kidnapped and illegally confined prisoners. Indeed, this massive backlog of cases means that even after a judge orders the ICE Gestapo to release a kidnapped person, the Trumpenreich routinely fails to release those people quickly.
"Using court dockets, Reuters found more than 700 Justice Department attorneys representing the government in immigration cases. Five of the attorneys each appeared on the dockets of more than 1,000 habeas cases.
Partly as a result of that legal logjam, judges have found that the government has left people locked up even after judges ordered their release.
In a court order, issued last month in Minnesota, Schiltz said the government had violated 96 orders in 76 cases. The U.S. Attorney there, Daniel Rosen, said in a filing two days later that the cases had created an "enormous burden" for government attorneys."
Of course, one could note as a judge in another recent case did, that this "enormous burden" for government attorneys was a self-made problem for the Trump regime; not only because of the sheer number of people the Gestapo has disappeared from our streets who have a legal right to bail while they await an immigration hearing, but also because Trump's lawyers vigorously contest every single habeas corpus petition filed against the government to release concentration camp prisoners.
The truth however, as we know from our study of ICE's concentration camp conditions, is that the Trumpenreich is not ignoring court orders or dragging its feet in response to them because government lawyers are overworked, nor even as a petulant temper tantrum to appease a racist base. There is a method, behind this malevolent cruelty.
This is all part of Stephen Miller's larger plan to torture migrants in concentration camps until they agree to give up their claims to stay in America and self deport. You can't torture people into surrendering their own legal rights, if you do not in fact "have the body." And that's why Trump's Gestapo doesn't care how many times a judge says they broke the law.

If 1% of criminals being undocumented immigrants is enough to justify concentration camps, what should we do with the fact that 98% of criminals are men?
Personally, I'm not a radical: a moratorium prohibiting men from being elected to any government position is enough. Let's try that for 10 years and see how it goes.

Hmm, I don't think that will do anything. The chain just disappears between the agri tyre profile and won't even touch the ground 😆
Another option are screw-in studs, which supposedly work well with thick rubber profiles like this. But only on ice, they'll do nothing on mud or loose snow. Hmm.
Another stupid(?) idea is to weld some scrap metal together and bolt it to those 8 holes in the rim, with steel protruding outside past the tyre profile. Basically like this ancient farmall tractor.

As the popularity of ethnonationalist neighborhood Gestapo raids plummets in US society, Trump regime-aligned fascists have increasingly retreated to legalese and misrepresentation to justify their very obvious ethnic cleansing project. Although some of the cruder minds pushing propaganda for Trump's mass deportations continue to parrot the fantasy that the Gestapo is rounding up "violent criminals," more sophisticated nazi intellectuals have primarily shifted to arguing that the regime is acting within the boundaries of US immigration and civil rights law; which in turn means that critics accusing them of racist authoritarianism are at best ignorant, and at worst open enemies of the state. This is, to put it bluntly, absolute bull-pucky. Everything about the regime's mass deportation program is clearly white supremacist in nature, dependent on widespread racial profiling, and therefore patently fucking illegal. Whether or not anyone is interested in, or even capable of, holding the Trump administration to account for this lawlessness is irrelevant here; the law itself is quite clear on the fact that you cannot just round people up for being fucking brown.
Naturally, this has not stopped fascists both inside and outside of the executive branch from simply lying to the US public about all of this. Once in a while however, one of the dumber nazis in Trump's coterie of thugs, ghouls, and sociopaths will get too excited and simply blurt the truth out loud. Enter the scene-stealing star of the recent Mad Max reboots, Tom Homan. Speaking a little too freely in the familiar confines of the Fox News studio, Trump's "Border Czar" pretty much straight up admitted ICE Gestapo thugs were targeting random brown people for interrogation because of their "physical appearance," while arguing that ICE pigs literally do not need "probable cause" to detain someone.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/tom-homan-ice-racial-profiling
Critics Blast Trump Border Czar for Asserting ICE Can Detain People Based on 'Physical Appearance'
"After being asked about the possibility of a judge in California limiting the scope of ICE's law-enforcement activities, Homan declared that "people need to understand ICE officers and Border Patrol don't need probable cause to walk up to somebody, briefly detain them, and question them."
He then outlined factors ICE agents could use that would justify detaining someone.
"They just need the totality of the circumstances," he claimed. "They just got through our observation, you know, get articulable facts based on their location, their occupation, their physical appearance, their actions."
Homan's statement about not requiring probable cause to detain people contradicts a statement made in court this week by Thomas Giles, the assistant director of ICE who testified that the standard for making arrests "is we need to determine probable cause and determine alienage."
Okay so I want to start with the legal part here because it's easier to get out of the way. What you're looking at is a replication of the Trump regime's tried and true pattern of telling the court one thing, while clearly doing something entirely different, and quite illegal. Naturally, because America is an extremely racist place and our immigration laws are a spider web of white nationalist exceptions to the rule, there is a tiny bit of grey area for Homan and the Gestapo to take advantage of here in terms of why they can stop suspected migrants, but that grey area is very clearly surpassed by Homan's statement that essentially "we don't need no stinking probable cause if you're Hispanic-looking." Of course you could argue that The People Eater is merely throwing red meat to the base, but I think anyone who has watched the livestreamed Gestapo raids occurring across the country since May knows that ICE is listening to nazis like Homan, not lawyers like Giles. In other words, the government is openly violating civil rights law and getting away with it for reasons that remain unclear - although it should be noted a federal judge just ruled as much very recently, and has attempted to halt the Gestapo raids; the government has of course, appealed.
On the larger question of what kind of policy Trump's mass deportations actually are, and what purpose they serve however, there really can no longer be any debate. Live on Fox News, Homan happily admitted what was already obvious to everyone but sophists and bootlickers: the Trump regime is engaging in a white supremacist project, targeting brown people, as part of a larger ethnic cleansing operation to re-whiten America. There really is no other conclusion to draw when the regime is willing to openly admit the Gestapo is actively choosing its targets based on location, occupation, and physical appearance. Shouting "we're not doing ethnonationalism" while describing your goons doing ethnonationalism isn't going to cut it anymore.

I'd like to take a moment to talk about a regional PNW news story about resistance to the Gestapo, because I think Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's response to it is at once very typical of the regime's fascist propaganda style, and also crude enough to perhaps expose the direction the fascist shitshow that is Trump 2.0 is heading. After semi-anonymous groups of heroic citizens worked to publicly identify masked ICE Gestapo agents openly violating the civil rights of Oregonians, noted puppy murderer Noem promised swift prosecution of “anarchist and Antifa-affiliated groups” who acquire or share "personal information" of federal law enforcement officials who work for the government.
https://www.oregonlive.com/crime/2025/07/ice-officers-doxxed-by-antifa-anarchists-in-portland-dhs-says.html (archived: https://archive.ph/0cm2B)
ICE officers doxxed by antifa, anarchists in Portland, Noem says
"Noem, in a statement and photos, identified Rose City Antifa, “Rose City Counter-Info,” and “The Crustian Daily,” as groups that have published names, photos and personal addresses of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on their websites or put up fliers in the officers’ neighborhoods. In one case, trash was dumped on the front lawn of an officer’s property, but the location was not disclosed.
“We will prosecute those who dox ICE agents to the fullest extent of the law. These criminals are taking the side of vicious cartels and human traffickers,” Noem said in the statement. “We won’t allow it in America.”
So, before we get into what I think Noem's belligerence has exposed about how the Trump regime intends to market the transformation of the United States into a white ethnostate executive branch dictatorship with theocratic characteristics, I just want to clear up an point of order here. ICE agents are public law enforcement officials, who are issued numbered badges, and work for the government; it is categorically impossible to dox someone who shouldn't be allowed to run through American cities wearing neck gaiters pulled up over their faces like a CIA-trained Latin American death squad. So, right off the bat we've got the DHS Secretary arguing that people who haven't broken a law are guilty because they exposed people, Gestapo pigs, who actually are breaking the law, or at least openly violating the civil and constitutional rights of both migrants and American citizens alike.
Don't sleep on Gestapo Barbie's attempts to revive the "Antifa and anarchist scare" that characterized the first Trump administration's justification for using federal agents to conduct blatantly illegal operations in cities they consider politically hostile either. Trump and the pigs loyal to him have spent a very long time trying to get you to associate "Portland" with "lawless anarchist violence" and "Antifa terrorism" and I don't think it's any sort of accident that she's invoking that trope again now.
What I think is most revealing here however is that Noem couldn't resist tying all of this back to the regime's threats against "sanctuary cities" - which as the article notes, has also been a key talking point being put forward by Trump's Border Czar, Tom Homan recently. This context, which Noem wasn't required to provide, paints a giant target on Portland, for the type of militarized invasion and occupation we've been watching for weeks in Los Angeles.
Now, you gentle reader might think it would be ridiculous to pretend an American city had been taken over by "Antifa terrorists" in league with Democrat officials, and therefore needed to be brought to heel by militarized federal forces, and nobody could blame you for that - the problem is, the first Trump administration made precisely that argument already, repeatedly in 2020, and started using Federal Marshals to black bag protestors and suspected antifascists right off the streets of Portland. The only thing that stopped Downmarket Mussolini from fully invading a bunch of Democrat-controlled cities back then was a lack of military buy-in, and I think the ongoing invasion and occupation of LA demonstrates that won't be a problem with Pete Hegseth running the Department of Defense and a 6-3 fascist high Supreme Court.
#Fascism #Trump #DHS #KristiNoem #Antifa #Anarchists #Gestapo #ICE #CivilRights #USPol #PoliceState #TomHoman #InvasionOfLA #Portland #Oregon
To me, one of the most obvious tells that the Trump regime and all of its minions are fully aware that the slow motion, ethnic cleansing operating they're currently conducting as part of their "mass deportation" program is both morally unconscionable and flat out illegal, is the insistence on operational secrecy all throughout the horrifying fascist deportation machine. ICE Gestapo thugs hit the streets in pulled-up neck gaiters, fascist governments work to obscure who is getting paid to build concentration camps, and the DHS refuses as many oversite visits by political officials to ICE facilities as they possibly can; even going so far as to arrest two Democrat politicians in New Jersey who got sick of getting the run around and just went to the migrant cages themselves. If this was, as the Trump regime continues to insist, a totally legitimate, strictly constitutional law enforcement or public safety matter, it wouldn't be necessary for ICE goons to be running through our streets dressed up like members of a CIA-funded death squad or obscure the names of contractors to "protect against [expected] reprisals."
To place another piece of evidence on that specific pile then, let's look at this recent Intercept investigation into a couple of very unusual immigration court hearings involving migrants. Why were they unusual? Because in multiple instances the judges running these "courts" agreed to keep the name of the government's immigration attorney, aka "the prosecution," secret.
https://theintercept.com/2025/07/15/ice-lawyers-hiding-names-court/
ICE Lawyers Are Hiding Their Names in Immigration Court
"Inside a federal immigration courtroom in New York City last month, a judge took an exceedingly unusual step: declining to state the name of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement attorney pressing to deport asylum seekers.
“We’re not really doing names publicly,” said Judge ShaSha Xu — after stating her own name and those of the immigrants and their lawyers. It was the first of two separate instances The Intercept identified in which judges chose to withhold the identities of the attorneys representing the Trump administration’s deportation regime.
As ICE agents across the country wear masks to raid workplaces and detain immigrants, government attorneys need not cover their faces to shield their identities. Legal experts who spoke to The Intercept agreed the practice of concealing the lawyers’ identities was both novel and concerning."
Alright, let's start with the obvious: as the article clearly notes, no, this is not normal. In fact its so abnormal that I don't think anyone knows if it is legal or not because this simply doesn't happen. This is primarily because without a named attorney, it is impossible to identify, investigate, and hold someone accountable for prosecutorial misconduct, and while the Intercept doesn't highlight that as the obvious reason for doing this, I'm more than happy to.
If, as I and others have argued, these mass deportations are clear violations of constitutional and human rights, then ICE lawyers working to ram every brown person they can through via legally dubious methods (like say, declaring that a fake invasion by a Venezuelan gang nobody has ever heard of means you can ship ppl to foreign gulags without due process) would be legally accountable for their role in perpetuating these crimes. If you know what you're doing is illegal, because you're a lawyer, "I was just following orders" has a pretty poor track record as an excuse in court. So you can understand why it might behoove immigration judges, who literally work for Trump's executive branch, not the judiciary, to hide the names of government attorneys doing the legal legwork for a fascist ethnic-cleansing project that probably represents a real as fuck crime against humanity if several international scholars are to be believed, right?
While the Intercept reporting here could have emphasized that point better, I will give them credit for identifying at least one of the ICE lawyers facilitating criminal migrant expulsions, a one Cosette Shachnow - who I sincerely hope becomes as infamous as she clearly deserves to be. Cosette (jfc I hate bougies) aside, I think it's important to understand this is a real problem for Trump, the Gestapo, and Stephen Miller's pet project to re-whiten American demographics for generations to come no matter how many brown lives that costs. Although it's not being reported all that much, DHS and ICE have faced numerous resignations and early retirements in their immigration law divisions because even those ghouls didn't sign up for fascist mass kidnappings and crimes against humanity. The regime needs lawyers to help slap a legalist veneer on all this ethnonationalist bullshit and they're working to make it easier to hire replacements for folks who accidentally grow a conscience along the way - even if they have to build a Star Chamber to do it.
#Fascism #Trump #ICE #DHS #Courts #Immigration #Gestapo #MassDeportations #Law
One of the immutable truths of any large scale, targeted fascist oppression operation, is that the most horrifying consequences will tend to fall directly on marginalized communities, and within those communities, the outcomes will be the worst for the most marginalize people overall. As such, it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone to learn that the Gestapo's recent mass deportation project is disproportionately destroying the lives of undocumented sex workers as a result of targeted ICE raids featuring common abuses, and even sexual extortion. Unfortunately, the reason that it *may* still surprise you is that despite widespread coverage of the Gestapo's fascist abuses targeting other migrants, almost nobody, even among migrant activists and civil rights organizations, is speaking out for migrant sex workers targeted as part of the Trump regime's slow motion ethnic cleansing project.
This excellent essay on Truthout is divided up into main themes. Firstly, it raises awareness about targeted ICE raids on massage parlors, and calls advocates out for not standing up for sex workers who're being disappeared into the Gestapo's migrant cages at an alarming high rate without anyone really keeping track of it at all. Additionally, the piece also explores the way anti-sex work legislation and surveillance technology, originally adopted under the guise of preventing human "trafficking" has functioned as both a permission gate and a testing ground for the anti-migrant panopticon DHS is operating; a panopticon Trump is now trying to turn towards his political enemies more broadly by partnering with companies like Palantir to create dossiers on as many Americans as they possibly can.
Sex Workers Are Being Abducted by ICE — and Abandoned by Respectability Politics
"Since January 2025, police raids on massage parlors have intensified, targeting immigrant women suspected of sex work. Amid nationwide protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), these workers — among ICE’s most systematically targeted — are largely excluded from community defense."
I don't want to give short shrift to the primary thrust of authors Kate Zen and Chanelle Gallant's work here, because at the end of the day it really is both alarming and disheartening to see that we as a society have learned very little over the past six months about how the regime targets those it is somehow socially acceptable to victimize (migrants instead of Americans, brown people instead of white people, trans people instead of cis people, etc) for fascist repression and abuse first, and uses that to create a gateway that allows those very same policies to work more broadly against everyone. The fact that nobody is fighting to protect migrant sex workers, calling for the release of kidnapping victims who happened to be captured at massage parlors, or even tracking what's happening to these (primarily) women isn't just respectability politics; it's mutual suicide in the face of a fascist ethnic cleansing and a broader eliminationist program. Migrant sex workers are migrants. Migrant sex workers are workers. Migrant sex workers are human beings. That makes the issue of Gestapo kidnappings targeting migrant sex workers a labor issue, a civil rights issue, and a human rights issue all rolled up into one horrifying fascist jelly roll of oppression.
Which of course then brings us to the long term costs of ignoring carceral violence, oppression, and civil rights violations of sex workers in the first place.
"The Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act (2015) authorized the creation of the Cyber Crimes Center within ICE, enabling wiretaps and internet surveillance. Between 2014 and 2018, DHS funneled over $3 million to local police for license plate readers to combat trafficking — now used in broader workplace raids.
Authorities justified travel bans, surveillance, racial profiling, raids, detentions, deportations, asset seizures, even sexual assault as anti-trafficking measures to protect women and children. But these measures do more harm than good, exposing migrants to additional forms of violence. Most funding went to prosecutions and public campaigns promoting false statistics and racist stereotypes, not victims’ services — fueling misguided vigilantism and MAGA fearmongering around child trafficking."
Folks, the authors of this piece are absolutely correct to point out that our decades long obsession with stopping "trafficking" was just an excuse to crack down on sex workers, and the digital panopticon used to do so is now being expanded to target migrants and even Trump's political opposition. Once you're willing to sacrifice the human rights of some ppl, for nothing more than patriarchal morality in this case, you're inevitably fueling the argument that your rights too, are subject to conditions and exemptions. And well, here we are.

I want to engage in a little news necromancy to briefly look at a story from a couple of weeks ago, because I think the discourse around it quickly got lost in a "just Trump being Trump" narrative across corporate media. As widespread Gestapo workplace raids continued in California, popular resistance to both the Trumpenreich's federal occupation of Los Angeles, and ICE fascist repression across the entire country, has predictably increased. After two violent July Gestapo raids on farms in California (that left one person dead), resulted in ICE having to flee bystanders throwing rocks at their vehicles, the Swine Emperor took to his personal social media site to issue legally-dubious authorization for the Gestapo to arrest, and potentially shoot protestors.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jul/12/trump-authorization-immigration-enforcement
Trump authorizes Ice agents to protect themselves using ‘whatever means’ necessary
“I am giving Total Authorization for Ice to protect itself, just like they protect the Public,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Friday, adding that he was directing the homeland security secretary, Kristi Noem, and “border czar”, Tom Homan, to arrest anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) protesters who impede immigration enforcement operations.
Trump said he’s told the administrators to “instruct all Ice, Homeland Security, or any other Law Enforcement Officer who is on the receiving end of thrown rocks, bricks, or any other form of assault, to stop their car, and arrest these SLIMEBALLS, using whatever means is necessary to do so”.
The president appeared to be referring to an incident on Thursday when federal agents clashed with protesters during immigration raids on two farms in California’s Ventura county, north of Los Angeles."
There's a lot going on here, so let's just start with Trump's wording and work our way backway here.
I quoted this part of the article specifically because it quoted the Swine Emperor, and I think it's really important to see the way he seizes on one response to brutal ICE workplace raids that literally killed a guy, specifically folks throwing rocks at the windows of fleeing Gestapo vehicles, to go after everyone trying to stop an ethnic cleansing operation, even though lawful protest activity. This is intentional, and Trump's grouping of these very different forms of resistance to the Gestapo fits in well with the larger argument the Trumpenreich is making, from Tom Homan, to Troy Edgar, and even Seb Gorka, that trying to stop Gestapo kidnappings and an ethnic cleansing operation in any way at all, including nonviolent protest or simply documenting the Gestapo's activities, is effectively violent sedition, a form of terrorism, or material support for terrorists. Trump treats protestors, and outraged bystanders throwing rocks as the same thing, because in the regime's eyes they are the same thing - treason against the Trumpenreich. This pattern of establishing an alternate false worldview, and then repeatedly speaking and behaving as if it were true, is a consistently-applied method of transforming fascist fantasy into enforced reality for the Trump regime, as we've documented previously on this blog.
So, is it actually legal for the President to "authorize" ICE to start arresting protestors and using "whatever means necessary" to punish people they think "attacked" them? No, probably not. Since the Gestapo, including ICE, DHS, and CBP all pretty much answer only to the President however, I wouldn't bet on that mattering a whole fuck lot the next some some Gestapo pig decides you didn't get out of the way fast enough at an anti-ethnic cleansing protest. Furthermore, the existence of this quasi-official "gloves off" command from the Swine Emperor, takes on even more ominous tones when you remember that the fascist GOP just approved funding the Gestapo like a small army, and the hiring of at least 10,000 more nazi immigration pigs. If the Gestapo is coming to a town near you, and it is indeed evolving beyond immigration enforcement and into Trump's own personal militarized secret police force, it should probably concern you that Downmarket Mussolini is telling them to start mass arresting protestors and cracking heads in reprisal for resistance.
Finally I should note the sheer petulant reaction Trump's behavior exposes here. The Guardian carries a lot of water for the Swine Emperor in this piece by dredging up other, more serious examples of armed resistance to the Gestapo to cover his tracks, but Trump's own post makes it clear what he's mad about - folks who just watched the Gestapo frighten a man off a roof to his death, throwing bricks at Gestapo vehicle windows. In Trump's worldview, damaging a "brand new" ICE pig-mobile is a crime punishable by violence and even death, while Gestapo workplace raids that violate the US constitution, racially profile nonwhite workers, and literally murdered a guy, are "law and order."

One of the most underexamined, perhaps even actively avoided topics of discussion in the larger discourse about the Trump regime's fascist ethnic cleaning project, is the administration's efforts to establish what Nick Turse has dubbed a "global gulag" of dangerous third party countries willing to accept trafficked migrants the US government insists are "dangerous criminals" yet in many cases, have no significant criminal record at all. Perhaps adhering to a philosophy of out of sight, out of mind, the US media has shown little interest in pursing these stories beyond whatever mystifying, pro-kidnapping and deportation rulings come out of a 6-3 fascist-high Supreme Court. As multiple investigations by The Intercept have shown however, the regime is running far more deportation flights, to far more dangerous concentration camps around the globe, than mainstream media coverage would lead you to believe.
In this examination, Turse checks out the US State Department's own assessments of the human rights records of both the countries the Trump regime has actually trafficked people to, and the countries the Trumpenreich is negotiating with to allow those "deportations." To the surprise of precisely no one, Foggy Bottom gave the vast majority of them a failing grade - 91% of them to be precise.
https://theintercept.com/2025/07/29/trump-deport-immigrants-third-country-human-rights/
State Dept: Trump’s “Third Countries” for Immigrants Have Awful Human Rights Records
"The nations that the Trump administration is collaborating with to accept these expelled immigrants are some of the worst human rights offenders on the planet, according to the U.S. government’s own reports.
More than 8,100 people have been expelled in this manner since January 20, and the U.S. has made arrangements to send people to at least 13 nations, so far, across the globe. Of them, 12 have been cited by the State Department for significant human rights abuses.
But the Trump administration has cast a much wider net for its third-country deportations. The U.S. has solicited 64 nations to participate in its growing global gulag for expelled immigrants. Fifty-eight of them — roughly 91 percent — were rebuked for human rights violations in the State Department’s most recent human rights reports."
Given the alarming number of people the Gestapo is rounding up off the streets, I can understand folks getting the idea that 8,100 kidnapped migrants trafficked to countries they often have no connection to whatsoever, is merely a drop in the bucket. They reality however is that these deportation flights, which can often contain as few as five people, represent one of the highest priorities for the Pork Reich's larger ethnic cleansing project because they are among the most difficult to stop, or undo. This is why the Trump regime took their case to remove the injunction blocking these third country deportation flights, all the way to the Supreme Court - where Roberts and the other "conservatives" found a loophole to let them get away with it.
Please then, keep in mind that the regime fought tooth and nail for the right to conduct expensive and inefficient migrant trafficking flights, while you consider what the rest of this data means. Specifically, and as Refugees International's Yael Schacher told the Intercept, that "the Trump administration cares nothing for human rights and wants these deportations to third countries to be punitive." Which is a very college way of saying we're purposely shipping migrants to unstable third country gulags because we want to disappear them in the cruelest, most harmful way possible. Let me rephrase that: we are paying to vanish people in some of the worst dungeons, and least safe places on Earth because our white nationalist government loves hurting nonwhite people, and is trying to create a white, or at least significantly whiter, American ethnostate.
Given the broad spread of countries the US is secretly negotiating with (at least 64 right now), the conditions trafficked migrants are held in vary significantly; but as the State Department's own reports detail, confinement, abuse, torture and extrajudicial murder are common dangers in the majority of third party countries accepting US deportation flights. For example, both South Sudan and Eswatini, countries which recently accepting 8 and 5 kidnapped migrants from the US government, are unquestionably hotbeds for extrajudicial killings and torture according to both the US State Department, and the United Nations.
In the end, it doesn't matter what the media, or the Supreme Court say, these are all violations of international law, and in some cases crimes against humanity. The Trump regime can write themselves whatever policy guideline excuses they like, it doesn't change the fact that this is absolutely nightmare Nazi shit, and everyone involved had better hope America never sees another day free from fascist domination, or they're all going to prison for a very long time.
Does the neofeudalistic reactionary hellworld got you on the unemployment line? Don't worry, Trump's fascist Gestapo is hiring. Now you too can join the only growing job market for labor class workers; hunting down and brutalizing brown people as part of a fascist takeover disguised as a fake war! Recently I wrote about the massive (over $200 billion in total) "immigration enforcement" funding increase in the now-passed GOP budget, and why that probably meant ICE and CPB would grow from Trump's secret police force, into his own private army - a Schutzstaffel, if you will. This of course included provisions to hire 10,000 new ICE enforcement agents to do the regime's fascist dirty work in our streets.
Well, it looks like the Department of Homeland Security isn't wasting time assembling Trump's new white nationalist goon squad, because ICE is now running an openly fascist advertisement campaign to recruit "deportation officers," while offering lucrative bonuses and perks for aspiring nazis who want to bust heads for the Swine Emperor. Furthermore, the language used to promote this Gestapo hiring campaign makes it abundantly clear that the regime knows what kind of people they want for the job, and folks who aren't prepared to go all the way for the Trumpenreich need not apply.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jul/30/ice-hiring-incentives-signing-bonuses
Ice entices new recruits with patriotism pitch and pledge of $50,000 signing bonuses
"In addition to appealing to prospective applicants’ patriotic fervor, homeland security is making a pocketbook pitch. The agency is promising up to $50,000 in signing bonuses, the potential for lots of overtime for deportation officers and other benefits such as loan repayment or forgiveness options."
First let me start by saying this article is terrible, and despite being critical of the Trump regime's plans here, still goes way too far to pretend the Pork Reich has legitimate reasons to be offering thousands more nazis a signing bonus to join up for, at a minimum, a white nationalist ethnic cleansing project in progress. With that having been noted, I think there are three major issues at play here; the signing bonus, the fascist nature of the advertising campaign, and the ominous hints about what Trump is really hiring these new goons for.
Obviously you don't need me to tell you it's disgusting to be promising $50K bonuses to would be Gestapo pigs, while you're simultaneously throwing millions of Americans off Medicaid. I think however its also important to understand that in offering such a lucrative signing bonus, it is clear that the regime intends to entice nazis with experience in professional or institutional violence. You don't offer a 22 year old unemployed Proud Boy a $50K signing bonus because you don't need that kind of money to recruit that kind of guy; what Trump wants here are cops, mercenaries, and folks with military training.
Which then brings us to the fact that DHS Secretary Kristi Noem isn't even trying to hide that they're also purposely recruiting fascists who are prepared to go along with Trump's narrative of an America under existential threat from enemies within.
"The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement campaign, which rolled out late Tuesday, recalls recruiting posters from the second world war with images of Uncle Sam and the words “AMERICA NEEDS YOU.” There also are photos of the US president and top homeland security officials with the words “DEFEND THE HOMELAND” across the images.
“Your country is calling you to serve at ICE,” said homeland security secretary Kristi Noem in a news release. “This is a defining moment in our nation’s history. Your skills, your experience, and your courage have never been more essential. Together, we must defend the homeland.”
Noem's statement and the advertising campaign that goes with it naturally bring up the obvious, but still alarming question - who exactly are you and the Gestapo defending "the homeland" from Kristi? To anyone watching the news, it sure looks like the answer to that question is "day laborers, grandmothers, legal immigrants, students, protestors, journalists, and opposition party elected officials." I see no reason to believe that's going to change for the better when we massively increase the size of Trump's nazi goon squad. As the article makes clear, ICE isn't really trying to hide that part either.
"On the recruitment webpage, the link to learn more about applying to be a deportation officer shows a photo of an armored vehicle rolling down a street with officers in military gear hanging onto the sides of the vehicle."
The rest of this piece wastes ink pretending there's a *good* way to hire 10,000 new Gestapo thugs; which says a lot about how we got here. In a society too racist to admit that creating ICE in the first place was a mistake, the best criticism the system can offer when Trump starts hiring his own SS is apparently that we're probably not going to train the nazis well enough. Taste the freedom.
The Trumpenreich's quest to massively expand the US Gestapo really is the "gift" that keeps on giving. Recently I wrote about how ICE was spending the billions of dollars the GOP just gave them, on an objectively fascist recruiting drive to entice more nazis to join ICE with perks and a signing bonus up to $50K. At the time, I theorized that these massive signing bonuses were designed to attract recruits with experience in professional violence because there's no shortage of unqualified racist goons willing to brutalize and terrorize brown people for a paycheck in what has always been, a white supremacist America.
Well, if a couple of recent stories in the news cycle are to be believed, I may have overestimated the attractiveness of hunting down Hispanic people in the streets of "liberal" cities, even for American racists, because the Gestapo appears to be getting increasingly desperate to find a mere 10,000 new fascist thugs.
How desperate? Desperate enough to recruit goons over the ICE age cap of forty, and allowing recruits as young as 18 to join the Gestapo. And in a move that I'm sure is unrelated, washed up TV actor and frothing nazi Dean Cain, who is over forty, immediately signed up for duty.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/ice-lifts-age-limits
'What Could Possibly Go Wrong?': Trump's ICE Is Now Recruiting Teenagers
"Approved applicants will be joining an agency rife with human rights and legal abuses as it scrambles to satisfy alleged ICE arrest quotas and President Donald Trump's desire to carry out the biggest mass deportation campaign in the nation's history—a campaign of kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and expulsion of innocent people, family separation, concentration camps, terrorization of American communities, alleged torture and sexual crimes, and many other outrages.
Noem told Fox & Friends Wednesday that in addition to lifting the 40-year-old age cap, ICE applicants can now be as young as 18."
Keeping in mind that I don't think the major priority for Americans who don't want to live in a fascist dictatorship run by the dumbest nazis in the country should be "our nazis are unqualified and poorly trained" - turning armed, eighteen year old racists loose inside a secret police force that is conducting an ethnic cleansing operation, while actively violating our Civil Rights and ignoring the law, is categorically one of the dumbest, most dangerous things the Trump regime has ever proposed. Furthermore, I would encourage readers once again not to sleep on the objectively fucking Nazi tone DHS is using to advertise this. Between the artificially aged AI slop mimicking Third Reich recruiting posters, to tying "defending the homeland" with the father son relationship in the same way that was so crucial to early Nazi propaganda, I am pretty sure evoking Nazi Germany during the interwar period was quite intentional.
Still, the point here is that they wouldn't be trying to hire white nationalists right out of high school, or lure their aging fathers to the front lines of a made up war, if better applicants were falling all over themselves to sign up for the Gestapo. Which is why I don't think it's a coincidence that at the exact same time this was going down, noted D-list celebrity Superman actor Dean Cain went on Fox News to talk about the ICE recruiting drive, and then signed up immediately afterwards.
Former Superman actor Dean Cain reveals he’s becoming an Ice agent to support Trump’s mass deportation agenda
"Speaking on Fox News on Wednesday night, Cain told host Jesse Watters that he decided to join Ice after sharing one of their recruitment videos on his Instagram account on Tuesday, which Watters had spoken about on his show.
“I’m actually a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer – I wasn’t part of Ice, but once I put that out there and you put a little blurb on your show, it went crazy,” Cain told Watters on Wednesday. “So now I’ve spoken with some officials over at Ice, and I will be sworn in as an Ice agent, ASAP.”
You might be tempted to think that sending Dean Cain on Fox News to leverage his recent return to "relevance" into Gestapo sign ups would be too crude and obvious a propaganda ploy, but let me assure you that this is absolutely what the Trump regime is doing here. Cain's pitch about hunting down brown people being "the right thing to do" is the giveaway. Don't worry however, he also more or less just up and admitted he was doing this to get other aging racists back in the game for the Gestapo.
"Cain, who played Superman opposite Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in the 1990s, said he hoped others would join him. “I’m stepping up,” he said. “Hopefully, a whole bunch of other former officers, former Ice agents, will step up and we’ll meet those recruitment goals immediately, and we’ll help protect this country.”
Is America great again yet?

Given that DHS, and in specific the ICE Gestapo have been the chief vehicle for Trump and Stephen Miller's larger ethno-nationalist purification project in America this past entire year, I don't think there's much hope of me catching you up on what ICE has been up to in the months since I stopped writing have passed. The short version is that they've been up to a whole lot of nazi shit, that makes it clear that at a very minimum Trump's mass deportation agenda is both real as penitentiary steel, and an ethnic cleansing operation in progress.
Of course, as far back as 2017, I was writing that Trump and Miller's then 1st term immigration policy was blatant white nationalism, and while the Swine Emperor did not yet have a large enough army to do a genocide (and ethnic cleansing is really just a polite way to say genocide; especially once some clever nazi starts pointing out that bullets cost less than boats) he was molding ICE and CBP into just such a force as we watched on live TV. I'd say that analysis aged pretty well, quite frankly; although I was certainly not the only analyst to notice - Adam Serwer in particular was writing many of the same things and issuing many of the same warnings.
Naturally, anyone who (correctly) analyzed that all of Trump and Miller's stated policy intentions pointed directly towards an ethnic cleansing operation, was dismissed as an alarmist. Yet if we fast forward to the very first year of Trump's second term in office, the reality that the entire US government has been repurposed in a variety of ways to conduct just such an ethnic cleansing in America, is so undeniable as to discredit an establishment that still wishes to pretend otherwise.
Take for example this December 13th opinion piece published in the Guardian; roughly 9 days after Trump sent 3,000 federal Gestapo goons to occupy Minneapolis, but before they'd actually murdered anyone there for exercising their constitutional rights.
The ethnic cleansing of the United States will destroy it
"The rant is abhorrent and factually incorrect, but it does hold one truth – the Trump administration’s vision for the United States is one of a white Christian nation. And the path to accomplish it is through the exclusion and removal of all who do not fit that vision – in other words, through ethnic cleansing.
To that end, Trump and his acolytes have increasingly been using the term “reverse migration” and even proposed an “office of remigration”. The idea, borrowed from white supremacists in Europe, understands immigrants as an inherent threat to the identity of what they imagine to be “white” nations. Immigrants’ forcible and systematic removal – remigration – is envisioned as a way to “restore” that whiteness.
This vision of an ethnically cleansed, white US is being enacted in policy."
As I implied above, I don't think it *should* be controversial to refer to Trump's mass deportation agenda as an ethnic cleansing project at this point; although to some degree, it still is. The reason I chose this piece by Professor Gowayed however, is because the author walks you through the ways this ethnic cleansing project goes beyond ICE disappearing people in our streets for the color of their skin, and instead has repurposed the entire apparatus of the federal government to "restore" whiteness and white supremacy. Legitimate pathways to citizenship or residency are closed, the regime is seeking to end birthright citizenship and expand the government's power to denaturalize people who've legally obtained citizenship already. The Supreme Court has allowed immigration pigs to stop people based on race, and at the same time an openly white supremacist GOP has poured enough money into the federal Gestapo to transform Trump's immigration security forces into his own private army. The entire federal government is now feeding data into a racialized police state, mass surveillance panopticon, at the very same time the Trump regime is slashing social safety net and support programs that will disproportionally affect people of color. All of which is to say nothing about the fact that the fascist police state being unleashed on migrants, is also being simultaneously repurposed to target anyone, including white American citizens, who opposes the Gestapo, or Trump's fascist agenda at all.
I'm not gonna lie to you folks, the situation is grim; but whatever we're going to do about all of this must be done with eyes wide open. It is not hyperbole to call an obvious ethnic cleansing operation, ethnic cleansing and indeed a genocide in progress. Thanks to the long history of fascism we already know how this story ends, and waiting around for Trump to start digging mass graves is a very good way to end up with mass graves.

One important story I don't want to get lost in the time jump shuffle now that I'm back at work, is the evidence that Trump's Department of Homeland Security no longer considers the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution to be valid law. Or at least it sure looks that way given the orders they've been training up new ICE Gestapo pigs on.
Several months back, I wrote about news that DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and Trump's nazi shadow chancellor Stephen Miller wanted to use ICE to enter homes without a judicial warrant; which would be a clear violation of the 4th Amendment, based on previous SCOTUS precedent. Well, thanks to leaks obtained by the Associated Press, we now know that they're actually doing it; even if they're clearly trying to keep that a secret. This article is kind of trash, but AP broke the story so I guess we're going with it.
https://apnews.com/article/ice-arrests-warrants-minneapolis-trump-00d0ab0338e82341fd91b160758aeb2d
Immigration officers assert sweeping power to enter homes without a judge’s warrant, memo says
"Federal immigration officers are asserting sweeping power to forcibly enter people’s homes without a judge’s warrant, according to an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo obtained by The Associated Press, marking a sharp reversal of longstanding guidance meant to respect constitutional limits on government searches.
The memo authorizes ICE officers to use force to enter a residence based solely on a more narrow administrative warrant to arrest someone with a final order of removal, a move that advocates say collides with Fourth Amendment protections and upends years of advice given to immigrant communities."
Despite the weasel words the AP used here, understanding this issue isn't that complicated. The Constitution says police can't enter your home without a judicial warrant, except in some very narrow circumstances involving probable cause. This should mean that ICE can't just break into your house to "round people up" without a judge's warrant, but the Trump regime is arguing that they don't need to respect the US constitution for "reasons" and because ICE has never tried this before, nobody is entirely sure a 6-3 fascist high SCOTUS won't ignore the entire legal history of the United States to allow it some day.
Furthermore, the Gestapo is arguing that because they have an administrative final removal order, that is just as good as a warrant. Which is farcical, because immigration "judges" are literally employees of DHS and don't have to be anywhere near as qualified as a judge has to be, so allowing the Gestapo to violate the constitution because of an administrative order issued by "judges" who work for DHS is pretty much akin to letting the Gestapo decide who the Gestapo can legally violate the constitution to kidnap.
Whether the fascist Roberts court allows it or not, this is patently illegal and morally unconscionable; but I guess the maggots at the Associated Press are too afraid they'll be next on Trump's media revenge tour to say that out loud. As the AP itself notes, DHS is clearly aware that this bullshit is illegal because they're not actually distributing the memo to the Gestapo itself, but rather keeping it on a need to know basis and using it to train new ICE goons who don't know Kristi Noem is telling them to break the law. Finally, please be aware that none of this is hypothetical; in one of the most tense moments (so far) of the occupation of Minneapolis by Gestapo troops, ICE was literally filmed smashing an older, clearly harmless man's door down to kidnap him in clear violation of the US Constitution.
"The memo itself has not been widely shared within the agency, according to a whistleblower complaint, but its contents have been used to train new ICE officers who are being deployed into cities and towns to implement the president’s immigration crackdown. New ICE hires and those still in training are being told to follow the memo’s guidance instead of written training materials that actually contradict the memo, according to the whistleblower disclosure.
It is unclear how broadly the directive has been applied in immigration enforcement operations. The Associated Press witnessed ICE officers ramming through the front door of the home of a Liberian man, Garrison Gibson, with a deportation order from 2023 in Minneapolis on Jan. 11, wearing heavy tactical gear and with their rifles drawn.
Documents reviewed by The AP revealed that the agents only had an administrative warrant — meaning there was no judge who authorized the raid on private property."
Folks, I'm not going to blow sunshine up your ass here; if you want to know how the Trump regime makes it "legal" to send the Gestapo door to door to root out their "enemies," this is what the process that leads there looks like. A fascist police state built to disappear migrants is a fascist police state that can disappear anyone.

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m gonna say: ICE out!” proclaimed trap and reggaeton artist Bad Bunny on February 1, while accepting the Grammy award for best urban music album.
The crowd inside the show, which took place in LA, overwhelmingly responded with cheers.
“We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens,” he added. “We are humans and we are Americans.”
The #Grammy ceremony and #BadBunny’s anti-#ICE statement came in the context of the #Trump administration’s brutal crackdown against immigrant workers, with hundreds of thousands of people arrested and deported in the last year, often violently.
Bad Bunny, one of the most well-known and awarded #US musicians today, repeated his pro-#immigrant message a week later at the #SuperBowl halftime show, without making an explicit political statement as he did in the Grammys.

HELL YEAH! February 17th we are going to all 435 district offices of US Congress critters with one message: ABOLISH ICE.
"History tells us exactly what happens next: overcrowding, malnourishment, willful neglect - and disease. Epidemics don’t appear by chance; they can be manufactured by policy. Measles, flu, tuberculosis - these are the predictable consequences of caging human beings in unsanitary conditions while blocking oversight and medical care. The outbreak we’re witnessing in Dilley is both a weapon and a warning sign."

"Liam Ramos was the tip of the iceberg. Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the facility from which 5-year-old Liam and his father were discharged on February 1, is a place where many other children are still being detained. Their stories are almost too much to bear."

The DHS is asking social media companies to hand over personal data of people who have expressed anti-ICE sentiments.
If you block someone on Bluesky, that's public data.

This is chilling for anyone who cares about Freedom of speech. In another blatantly fascist move, the government wants to expose and do who-knows-what to people who criticize #ICE.
They want to use the government to oppress those who criticize the government. Specifically, those who criticize the masked, paramilitary goon squad that's been repeatedly violating the Constitution, court orders and human decency.
Where are all those "free speech absolutist" Republicans now? Funny how they aren't speaking up.
762,000 are dead after DOGE cut #USAID funding. 500,000 were children.
I just listened to @emptywheel pointing to a Reuters article on how Russ Vought is using #USAID money for his private security. As @nicolesandler said "It's obscene."

The damage caused by #ElonMusk & #DOGE is continuing.
Link to the whole show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ivBoagodBk where Marcy talks about #ICE #Bondi #KristiNoem & the #DHS shutdown.
Shout out to @lolgop & some of his new videos
ICE operations increasingly resemble Israeli occupation. That’s no coincidence
U.S. immigration enforcement has long cultivated ties with Israel. Now it adapts algorithmic surveillance tactics from Gaza for use on American streets.

The fascistic sadists are in charge; thankfully there're ethiical judges that administer the law:🚨"After Secretary Rubio declined a judge's suggestion to return illegally deported Any Lopez Belloza – a 20 year old Babson student who was sent to Honduras in defiance of a court order —⚡Judge Stearns has orderd the admin to facilitate her return."
