Mosaic Monday ... Roses, Roses, Roses.

I've been so fortunate to play a part in caring for the Roses in our school Rose garden, and this year has been a particularly great year for them.  They have been putting on the most fabulous display, and I've been bringing home beautiful big bunches of Roses to brighten up the house.

I just had to share the Rose bouquets I've enjoyed just in the last couple of weeks.

The colours and the perfumes are absolutely stunning.

Friday Flower Flaunt ... The Rose Show.

Now I admit I have never grown Roses in any of my gardens over the years, so these are not flowers from my garden.   But I became the carer of the Rose Garden at my school, when my team and I were re-located to the room right behind this garden area.

I can not unfortunately offer any varietal names for the beauties that grow in this area, as no labels or tags were ever kept after planting, but I can wax lyrical about their beauty and the perfume from a couple of the Rose bushes.

This particular bush is covered in spectacular looking white Roses that have a wonderful perfume.  There are two of these white Rose bushes growing in the garden, and they the spots where my white-flower-adoring eyes are drawn to every time I walk up the path towards my building.

The headiest perfume though, comes from the two bushes that have the delicate pink Roses.

Now for some of the other Roses that make up for their lack of scent with their spectacular colour.

Mosaic Monday ... They Never Promised Me A Rose Garden

When I first began working at my present school, there was no mention of gardening chores or rose garden tending.  Not once during the interview did I hear the words 'rose garden' spoken!  But, here I am ... I've become the Rose Garden caretaker.  Upon moving into my present classroom, with the school's only rose garden just outside the doors, I became the rose garden carer by default.  Having never planted, grown or cared for Roses ever during my gardening lifetime, I was a little daunted by the task.

However, I'm pleased to say the little Rose garden is coming along very nicely.  It seems to have fully recovered from the very heavy wet season we had at the beginning of the year, which left most of the bushes looking rather sick and unhealthy.

Most of the bushes have been blooming away brilliantly over the last couple of Spring months and hopefully will continue putting on their fabulous display at least until the end of this school year ... which is now only five weeks away!  I'm pleased to say that many people who wander down the pathway outside my classroom comment on the gorgeous Roses ... and a few even stop to smell the Roses!

I'm joining Mosaic Monday today, and I would encourage you to go on over and take a look!

Mosaic Monday ... School Roses On Show

The dry season conditions here are most certainly agreeing with the Roses at school.  When I moved rooms at the beginning of the year, I became responsible for the small Rose garden just outside the building where my 'Star Room' is located.

At the beginning of the year, all the Roses were in a bad way after a terrible wet season and cyclone season.  It's taken some loving care and attention, but finally the shrubs are looking healthy and happy and blooming prolifically.

Thank goodness, I say, because I've never grown Roses before and really had no idea how to care for them.  But it seems I've been doing the right thing so far.

Unfortunately, they will have to remain nameless as there were no labels to be found and the previous occupiers of the building had no idea of the varietal names.

The pretty pink Roses definitely win the 'Best Perfume' medal ...

... but it's this gorgeous specimen that has won my heart.  It starts out as this brilliant orangey colour, but then fades to almost a pinky peach.
