Website - cookies

This website sets one or more HTTP cookies for every visitor that doesn't have a cookie set.

Cookies are recorded in the web server logs along with the network address of every visitor.

Cookies are used for the analysis of the website traffic, for telling apart first time and returning visitors, and for authenticating forum and customer dashboard users who have logged in previously.

Website - 3rd party tracking

Website does NOT use any 3rd party traffic analysis services such as Google Analytics.

Additionally, the website doesn't use any external 3rd party resources, such as hosted scripts, fonts or images.

Website - information sharing

No individual visitor information is shared with any 3rd party.

Aggregate statistics, such as a number of visitors or a number of downloads per month, are not shared at the moment, but may be shared at some point in the future.

Website - purchasing

Credit card information including cardholder's name, card number, expiry date and security code is always sent directly to our payment processing company. The card number and the security code never touch any of our servers. We do however have an access to the name, last four digits of the card number and the expiry date for orders that reach our payment processing company's servers.

For completed PayPal purchases we have an access to the customer infromation as provided by PayPal, including email address, first and last names and the country of origin.

Email and network addresses and a country of residence are recorded for every purchase. Email address is used for delivering the purchase receipt, for identifying returning customers and when providing tech support. The network address and country of residence is used to tell apart Swiss and non-Swiss customers for VAT accounting purposes.

Software - licensing

The process of activating a software license for an installed copy of the software involves transmitting "Installation ID" and "Installation fingerprint" values to the licensing server.

Both values are in a form of cryptographic hashes that are computed from several parameters of the host computer. Hashes are computed using an one-way function and they are meant to be very hard or impossible to reverse into original parameter values.

Activation requests issued by more recent versions of the software also include an "inventory tag" field which is initialized to the name of computer. Tags exist to assist with license revocation and activation credit recovery for decommissioned installations.
