In Canadian public practice, we talk a lot about "billable capacity" in January. But we rarely talk about something way more important to monitor - our "𝗖𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆." By mid-January, your team isn't just tired from the hours. They are drained by the "silent" tasks: - The 4th follow-up email to a client for their T4 information. - The anxiety of a potential CRA penalty for a client who is filing late. - The mental fatigue of context-switching between 50 different files a day. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 "𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁": Even in Jan/Feb, encourage a "Hard Stop" for internal pings after 7:00 PM. Self-healing codebases are here. This week is the first week where every bug report and every error on our prod instance at Alma triggers a headless claude code instance that audits, proposes a fix, and makes a commit. I wake up to 4-5 commits that I review, and then push to production.
