Transform your fireplace easily for around $50 using the over-grout technique, also known as German Smear.

We have been working hard on the exterior of our home to make it feel more charming. We have done a ton of landscaping, painted the whole house, and added an arched front door. We really wanted to do an over grout on the exterior stone so we decided to just go for it!

The process:
We used white flex bond mortar from Home Depot and Romabio beige limewash for the stones. The total project cost was under $200!

Step 1: mix the grout to a thick pancake consistency.
Step 2: soak the stone with water. This helps prevent cracking.
Step 3: fill your grout bag and begin piping. Only do sections at a time as you want to keep the mortar moist. We used are garden house and misted the mortar as we went.
Step 4: Brush the mortar smooth. It also helps to us Beige Limewash, Vintage Remodel, Home Decor Thrift, Grout Sponge, Circle Window, Arched Front Door, Bucket Of Water, Just Go For It, Cedar Chest
