The Spartans of ancient Greece are famed for their martial traditions. But there is much more to Spartan history than the '300.'

The movie, 300, revolves around King Leonidas who leads 300 Spartans into battle against the Persian "God-King" Xerxes and his invading army of more than 300,000 soldiers.
