The Hazel-Atlas Company was an actual company from 1902 to 1964. They made actual Mason jars for home canning. But the Atlas "Mason" jars that you see now pasta sauces, etc., sold in are not actually made as actual, genuine Mason jars.

What makes this quart-sized Ball PERFECT MASON jar rare is that it should not exist! The 'Ball Blue' PERFECT series ended in 1922, and the logo on this jar was only used from 1923 to 1933. (Notice there's no underscore.) This jar was one of the last in the PERFECT series but one of the first with the 'new' logo.
