Mama Vine on Instagram: "🌿Is your newborn having a hard time getting a deep latch? Try this… Use the cross cradle hold and apply pressure to their upper back between their shoulders blades. I also find that supporting their weight with your arm under their body and hugging them in close to your body helps establish the nice deep latch we’re hoping for! ✨Try it out and let me know if it helps! #mamavine #newborn #newmom #newbaby #motherhood #breastfeeding #breastmilk #shallowlatch #deeplatch #crosscradlehold" How To Latch Breastfeeding, Breastfeeding Positions Newborn, Breastfeeding Latch, Breastfeeding Positions, Baby Facts, Hard Times, Hard Time, Breast Milk, The Cross

Eliscia Wisner, OTR/L, CLC on Instagram: "💣Latching a fussy newborn can feel downright impossible.

And while we do recommend trying to catch those early hunger cues to avoid an overly fussy baby, sometimes that just doesn’t happen. And sometimes baby goes 0-100 really quick. And sometimes when you’re both figuring out breastfeeding, frustration can be a very real part of latching in general.

📣But here’s the thing. It’s really hard to latch a fussy baby because they are so dysregulated. And when a baby is dysregulated, it’s very hard for them to effectively utilize those reflexes that help them latch.

⭐️So the BEST thing we can do is help baby get organized again!⭐️

And one of the most effective ways to do this is by activating baby’s suck reflex.
