Emma Freeman creates mixed media artwork with old vintage textiles from Japan, Africa, naturally dyed linen and natural yarns and threads. She creates buried fabric meditation books, contemplation cloths, poetry, wabi sabi art that is all part of her healing and spiritual practice.

Emma Freeman creates slow stitched books with old fabrics she gathers, naturally dyed fibers and gathered nature. She buries the books in her yard in Wisconsin for 30 days or more and then digs the books back up as a practice of connecting with the earth, art therapy, exploring her inner emotional world and the difficult and mysterious processes of grieving, healing and transforming.
