We hope that you all are having a fun and safe Friday the 13th! In way of a small tribute to the dreaded day I am presenting a quick render of the polar bear skull scanned while we where at the University of Alaska Museum of the North. This guy was large enough to give you some really bad luck had he crossed your path! The skull measures just over 39 cm (15.4 inches) long. #ivl3d

Bone Clones Apple Head Chihuahua Skull BC-348. A small dog with a long history. One origin theory: the dogs derived from the Techichi, a small companion dog kept by the people of the Toltec civilization as early as the 9th century. DNA tests suggest direct lineage to ancient pre-Columbian Mexican dogs. Chihuahuas exhibit varied morphology in their small size (1-12 lbs.), including skull shape, coat length and coloration.

I can't get over how solid and chunky these male sea lion skulls can be. Both awesome skulls and both considered marine mammals (two of the few marine mammal species it is legal for me to own) I love both skulls a lot! Before seeing their skulls I would have thought a polar bear skull would be quite…

It was CT scanned in February 2013 at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital. The original CT scan data can be freely downloaded on MorphoSource: http://bit.ly/2RlykG8.
