Rothko is in the court 🎾 This past holiday we went to Paris to see the Mark Rothko exhibition at the Louis Vuitton Foundation. Finally seeing all his work in person was phenomenal and I was trying to figure out what his abstract artworks could look like if they were representations of the real world. 🗼 The best I could come up with was a tennis court. The only thing was that none of his artworks were purely green and they definitely did not have tennis players on them… so I made this one. 🎾... Centre of Attention My first tennis artwork ‘Rothcourt’ was merely a warmup for what was to be an artwork inspired by the grass court of Wimbledon. My grandmother loved watching tennis and I recall sitting next to her on her leather couch watching Wimbledon every year. Seeing Sharapova, Williams, Djokovic and Federer play was always a highlight.
