wild and wonky: Double Wedding Ring, unknown maker, Texas, c. 1975, 64" x 84" Take a good look at this 1970s Double Wedding Ring quilt. There's a lot going on! The pattern appears and disappears in a riot of fabrics, as if layers were peeled away, revealing what was underneath. It's an innovative idea for a Double Wedding Ring, a quilt often made with more of a traditional look. Because the pieced arcs can be challenging, most quilters let their arcs stand out. The quilt came from an eBay…

Just in, via eBay from a seller here in Portland. This polyester double-knit quilt is made of a simple pattern with many names. Basically it's a pinwheel, but two of the other names are "Whirled" and "Twin Sister". Thank you to the folks at Quiltville and Bonnie Hunter for the assist on the ID. Such a happy quilt! Here are a few of the blocks. my favorite! It was a bargain, too. I think I've spent more at Taco Bell. :) Love these wild fabrics, and I'm still loving the polyester quilts!

But really, they didn't know diddly. 1970s polyester crazy block quilt, made with raw edge appliqué The quilts of the 1970s were rarely the technical masterworks we see…

This magnificent, one-of-a-kind 1970s Crazy Quilt just arrived from a seller in Florida, and I was pretty speechless when I opened it. Teddy Pruett found the quilt in a local antiques shop, and when I followed-up, it was luckily still available. It has a wide variety of fabrics, some synthetics, cottons, bandana, and even some red and white checked tablecloth. The quilt is two-layers, pieced and appliquéd, with feather stitching in black embroidery floss around each patch. That's all the…
