This past week my students worked hard to make sure they filled their book bins with good fit books! We spent all week practicing and reading those good fit books. This year I am planning on using a reader's notebook. I found a lot of GREAT ideas from other teachers. The "Five Finger Rule" is a quick and easy way to choose a "just right" book for elementary school-aged children. Have the child read out loud a random page from the book. If the child makes 0-1 error(s) on that page when reading, the book is too EASY. If the child makes 2-3 errors on that page when reading, the book is JUST RIGHT.
