Is pest control safe for young children and pregnant women?
The simple answer is yes. When we use pesticides or baits, we select formulations with the lowest toxicity available & apply these products where pests breed and live, not where you can come into contact with them.
Is pest control safe for those with asthma or allergies?
Often you may simply need to stay out of the house after a treatment for a little longer than usually needed. There are however, many different products and techniques we can use to control pests. If you or any member of your family suffers from asthma or is sensitive to chemicals, please let us know, or seek medical advice.
Is pest control safe for my pets?
Yes, however we have some basic precautions you must take, including having them away at treatment time and ensuring all food and water bowls are upturned or removed from treatment areas prior to treatment.
Is pest control safe for the environment?
We always use environmentally friendly products, specially formulated to target pests using the least toxicity necessary. Our expert staff are also trained in the most effective methods of pest control, striving for the smallest environmental impact possible.
Where do you treat for pests?
This will depend on which pest is being treated. We focus our treatments on the places that pests live and breed, even where you can’t see them. Depending on the type of pest, these areas can include areas inside the home such as skirting boards, cornices, window & door frames as well as roof voids and sub floors. These internal treatments are kept well away from contact with you. Outside treatment areas essentially include every edge or angle on the outside of your home that you do have or may get a spider, not just where you see them; this includes places like building perimeters, window frames, eaves, gutters, down pipes, garages, sheds, pergolas, outdoor furniture etc.
What is Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?
Integrated Pest Management is a globally recognised pest management system that utilises all possible avenues for pest control, not just pesticides. As IPM practitioners, Canberra Pest Control technicians can recognise the habitats and food sources of specific pests and remove or block access to them. Integrated Pest Management is an environmentally responsible approach which combines natural pest control methods with effective modern technologies.
How often should I have pest control done?
We recommend that you have our Spider & Comprehensive treatment (which includes cockroaches, silverfish, earwigs, slaters, millipedes, clothes moths, pantry moths, paper wasps & mud wasps) every 12 months as a minimum. This will ensure you don’t give pests a chance to breed up. If you notice a pest infestation at your home, contact us ASAP before it becomes a problem.
Is there anything I can do myself to help keep pests away?
Depending on the type of pest, there are many things you can do yourself to minimise immediate damage and deter them in the future. How long is the warranty for a pest control treatment?
At Canberra Pest Control, we guarantee a job well done. This means that in the unlikely event of an infestation relapse in the treated site, we will come back and fix it, free of charge (warranty conditions apply).
