about

London Progressive/Post-Metal Trio Cabiria are pleased to announce their return with news of their forthcoming new album How Long’s The Drive?, set for release on 27th September 2024 via Drongo Records.

Created over a span of 14 months between Jan 2023 and March 2024, recorded by Tom Hill and Cabiria Guitarist Rory Padfield, mixed by Rory Padfield, and mastered by Katie Tavini, this album represents a more colourful approach to songwriting and production than their raw, brooding debut record Rust & Grey, released independently in 2021.

The band are kicking off their release cycle with lead single Beksiń, released on 27th July 2024 - a sludgy five minute onslaught featuring searing post-metal grooves, brooding atmosphere and a truly anthemic climax. This track is as heavy as Cabiria have ever gone, and sees them honing their songwriting craft and performances in cacophonous fashion.

Beginning with a syncopated marriage of drums and bass, juxtaposed against an erratic array of screams and noises from abused musical equipment, the closer to Side A of the record starts boldly and doesn’t let up.

Beksiń features a strong contrast between the low- tuned chugging riffs of the verses, and the cinematic, Bladerunner-esq chord progressions of the choruses, complete with wailing synths and pummeling drums. The final minute of the track showcases Cabiria at their best, bringing all these motifs together into a conclusion which feels at once both triumphant and terrifying.

“The name Beksin is derived from the Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński. His works often include looming, dystopian structures and disturbing, skeletal figures, which convey a sense of scale that we felt appropriately matched the sound world we landed in on this song.” says guitarist Rory Padfield of the inspiration behind the title.
