Thanks Dragon

Happy Friday Everyone,

Only been back at school for school for two days and what a week. We had our telescope dedication yesterday and now we are getting a stereo microscope donated too. I have absolutely NO idea what it is (yet), BUT I am happy that our STEM Lab is going to be stepping up in the science world. I am also going to work on a wish list for another grant...yay for BIG companies that like to support Title I schools.  I'll be exploring options this weekend!

Today I am sharing a card that my daughter and I worked on collaboratively. I created the background using a sketch from Mojo Monday. Yes, the sketches are back at Poetic Artistry! I selected the stamped sentiment and image from MFT, but my daughter did the stamping, heat embossing (she likes to do that to prevent bleeding), and coloring.

Here is the most recent Mojo Monday sketch.

The stamped sentiment is from MFT ~ Thanks So Very Much. I really do love this set because of the over-sized font. I just checked in the store and it looks like they don't carry it any more. Bummer!
Other Challenges:

Lots planned this weekend...I need to write some science lesson plans for the STEM lab, grade some Math Winter Break packets for 3rd and 5th grade, going to Mr. Phil's observatory on Saturday night (hoping for clear skies), create and review a couple math assessments for fractions, and I can't forget...I need to make some crafty projects! I am thinking alcohol lift ink, treat boxes, "good job" post cards, water color backgrounds, oxide inks. So many ideas but I am not sure if there is enough time for EVERYTHING!

No time like now, so I better get started on the long list.

Georgiana

You Make Me Happy Dragons

Hello Friends!
I worked on these cute little dragons this morning and just took a couple photos once we returned from the movie theatre (We saw Pitch Perfect 3.). I am a bit bummed with the shadows, but lighting is not at its best since it is so dreary outside. I may try to retake pictures tomorrow morning if the sun is shining, but I was excited to get it done.

First, I stamped each dragon on 110lb white cardstock and then heat embossed the stamped outline with clear powder. It helps control the color from seeping outside its lines. I used my new Tim Holtz Oxide inks (faded jeans, broken china, and wilted violet) to watercolor each dragon.

I used this week's sketch from My Favorite Things. A random winner is selected each week and the prize is a $50 gift card to the shop. I hope to win one day!

Lastly, I heat embossed the MFT stamped sentiment from the All About You set with white powder. The black strip sits on pop dots so it is level with the dragons.

Until next time,
Georgiana

It's Been a Long Time ~ Stop by Die Cuttin' Divas

Oh My!
I forgot to set my Die Cuttin' Diva's post to go live this morning. I am so glad I realized it before the day was over.

Welcome back for another Die Cuttin' Diva Tuesday.

This Week's Challenge...
A Sketch

Here is my Design Team project...
I sure do like to play with words and find new meanings. I thought this dragon was super cute and since they haven't been around in a very long time...it has been a "long time no see". The sentiment can even be used for reconnecting with an old friend.
I create the sketches for our monthly challenge. I use the Paint program, which is quite simple. Not a lot of options, but the sketches can be left to the designer's interpretation.

The dragon was purchased at Silhouette On-line Store, but it is also available at Miss Kate Cuttables. I cut it on my Cameo and it was easy to assemble the pieces. All the edges were inked in blue.
Other Materials:
ivory, blue, orange, and green card stock
pattern papers from scrap box
Meadow green skittles by Carri
blue ink

Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "Sketch" Challenge. Can't wait to see what you create. Check out the other Design Team projects while there...they have used the sketch in a variety of ways for different occasions.

Stay Creative,
 Georgiana
