Kazuki Kawamura holds an M.Sc. in Informatics from Kyoto University (2021) and a Ph.D. in Applied Computer Science from the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies (2025). At Sony Group's R&D division, he conducts
machine learning and
data science
research based on user data. At Sony Computer Science Laboratories, he works on
Human-AI Interaction and
AI-Guided Learning
for human skill acquisition, and on uncovering and preserving tacit knowledge to build a skill OS. He is also a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, where he studies
AI-driven social simulation.
His broader aim is to understand what drives the behaviors, beliefs, values, and decisions of individuals and groups, and to design interventions that improve societal
well-being and human
capabilities
— using technology to advance humanity's social and cultural development. To that end, he integrates machine learning with theories from the humanities and social sciences.
