Mother Teresa's poem "Life"

Image
LIFE Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is bliss, taste it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is costly, care for it. Life is wealth, keep it. Life is love, enjoy it. Life is mystery, know it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it.

Pope Francis condemns "throw-away culture"

Image
On Trinity Sunday evening, Pope visited the community of Sant’ Egidio in the Roman neighborhood of Trastevere... He spoke to the community, focusing on solidarity: solidarity in prayer; solidarity in action to aid the weakest and most vulnerable in society; and especially, solidarity across generations. Departing from his prepared remarks, the Holy Father said, “A people that does care for its elder members, one that does not take care of its young people, is a people without a future, a people without hope – for young people - children, young people - and seniors carry [the people] forward in history.” Pope Francis went on to say, “Children and young people [do so] with the vim and vigor natural to youth, to be sure [It. I bambini, i giovani con la loro forza biologica, è giusto]. The elders [do so] by offering memory. When a society loses its memory, though, it is finished.” Pope Francis went on to tie the crisis among the young and the elderly in society to the “throw-away ...

Pope Francis: Jesus asked us to always be at the service of others

Image
Pope Francis celebrated one of the most important ceremonies of the year surrounded by the sick. His Holy Thursday Mass took place at the St. Mary of Providence Center, for the Don Carlo Gnocchi Foundation. When he arrived, he greeted the families, workers and patients of this center, which takes care of people with special needs, as well as the elderly and sick. During his homily, he explained that in Jesus' times, slaves would wash the feet of their masters. He then added that when Jesus did the same for their disciples, he left them this tradition. POPE FRANCIS "We've listened to what Jesus said during the Last Supper: this gesture is a farewell. It is like a heritage he leaves us. He is God, and has made Himself servant, our servant. This is His heritage: you also must become servants of each other.” The Pope then asked everyone to compare this action to the personal attitude we have whens serving others. POPE FRANCIS "I will now wash their feet, bu...

Pope Francis to celebrate Holy Thursday at center for disabled and elderly people

Image
Pope Francis will celebrate Holy Thursday at a facility for disabled and elderly people. The Pope will wash the feet of 12 people with special needs, at the St. Mary of Providence Center of the Don Gnocchi Foundation, located in the outskirts of Rome. The Pope has made it a point to lead by example when it comes to helping the marginalized, the poor and the needy. It's a scene that's come to life time and time again, including his first visit to Assisi, where he met with ill children and teenagers. Last year, in his first Holy Thursday as Pope, he decided to celebrate Mass at a juvenile jail, washing the feet of prisoners. They included detainees of different nationalities and even religions. He washed the feet of two Muslims, one of them female. Back in Argentina, he was known for celebrating Holy Thursday with the marginalized, in hospitals, prisons and slums. It's something he has adapted to his new home in the Eternal City.

Pope's Mass: Grandparents play a heroic role in passing on the faith to younger generations

Image
November 19, 2013. (Romereports.com) In his daily morning Mass at the Vatican, the Pope talked about taking care of the elderly. Echoing one of his trademark statements, he explained that a society that nurtures the elderly, is a society that protects its memory and future.   POPE FRANCIS “Let's pray for our grandfathers and grandmothers, who so very often have played a heroic role in transmitting the faith, even in times of persecution. When mom and dad weren't home, or when they had a strange belief system that reflected the politics of that time, grandparents were the ones who passed on the faith.” The Pope also highlighted that out of the ten commandments, 'Honoring thy Father and Mother' is the only commandment that guarantees prosperity. SUMMARY OF POPE'S HOMILY Source: Vatican Radio Pope Francis began his homily by pointing to the example of Eleazar in the Book of Maccabees, an elderly teacher of the law who preferred martyrdom rather than betrayi...

Pope Francis: Remember the elderly priests and sisters in nursing homes, true shrines of holiness

Image
(Vatican Radio) At his morning mass on Friday Pope Francis reflected on the later life challenges of three biblical figures, Moses, St. John the Baptist and St Paul. He said none of the 3 were spared anguish at the end of their lives although the Lord never abandoned them. The Pope also urged the faithful to remember and visit the many elderly priests and sisters living in their nursing homes because they are true shrines of holiness In his homily, the Pope looked at the vigour and enthusiasm displayed by the young Moses, St. John the Baptist and St Paul at the beginning of their apostolate and compared it with the solitude and anguish they endured at the end of their lives. The Pope said the apostle St Paul “has a joyful and enthusiastic beginning” but is not spared a decline in his later years and it was a similar situation with Moses and St. John the Baptist. “Moses, when young, he continued, was “the courageous leader of the People of God who fought against his enemies” to s...

St. Luigi Scrosoppi

Image
The saint of the day for April 3 is St. Luigi Scrosoppi . St. Luigi Scrosoppi’s life bears witness to a great trust in Divine Providence. He was born in the year 1804 in Udine, Italy and entered the diocesan seminary at 12 years old. He was ordained at age 23. The famine and poverty in Udine inspired Fr. Luigi to care for those most in need. With other priests and a group of young teachers, he dedicated himself to educating poor and abandoned girls in the practical skills of sewing and embroidery, as well as in reading, writing and arithmetic. Nine of these girls decided to take their vows as the first sisters of the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence, which Fr. Luigi founded in 1837. The congregation grew, and eventually he opened 12 houses of sisters. Furthering his priestly vocation, Fr. Luigi entered the Congregation of the Oratorian Fathers, founded by St. Philip Neri, at the age of 42. He continued to guide the Sisters of Providence, dedicating his life to social ...

Obamacare: Ending the Elderly

American Life League exposes the euthanasia agenda of the sponsors of HR 3200. Henry Waxman and co-sponsors John Dingell, George Miller, Peter Stark, and Frank Pallone all voted against a federal ban on use of drugs for physician assisted suicide. Not only that, Barack Obama equates physician assisted suicide with "end of life issues" and "the elderly."

Stimulus Provision Endangers Seniors, Opens Door for Euthanasia

The following is a statement from Judie Brown, president of American Life League , on the eugenics element woven into the healthcare provisions of the stimulus package agreed upon by the House and Senate Feb. 11 as reported by the Associated Press and San Jose Mercury News. "Our elected representatives have fed on the fears of a nation gripped by economic panic to legislate state-enforced euthanasia. President Obama's economic stimulus package puts a price tag on each of our heads. The package's healthcare provisions threaten the elderly and open the door for euthanasia and nationalized health care. Patterned on a plan outlined by Sen. Tom Daschle in his book "Critical: What We Can Do About the Health Care Crisis," the plan will have the greatest impact on seniors and places the country a step closer to mandated euthanasia of the elderly, infirm and those deemed undesirable. This is a disgusting direct attack on the worth and human dignity of all people, regardle...
