FNSI ....not going according to plan

I was all set for FNSI, with Wendy , especially being on a roll from my previous sewing session for CHERISH do Good Stitches.

Back in January 2017, I was quilter for the month and my chosen block was a Churn Dash in Black & White.  I was inspired by this photo I saw online

I love the secondary pattern formed when the blocks are joined together without sashing :)

So, on Friday afternoon I prepared for my FNSI session and got out all the Churn Dash blocks received from the 'Cherish circle', pressed them and laid them out.  I noticed that a few of the blocks were a bit undersized (only measuring 12" instead of 12.5") and that stopped me in my tracks :(

The 4 smaller blocks are on the bottom row, but if I include them, it will be very obvious ...... so ...... I left it on the design wall for the weekend pondering what to do.

One of the Cherish Quilters suggested using sashing, but staggering them so the difference is not quite so obvious and I am toying with that idea, but not completely sold.

I could make it more of a lap quilt with 3x4 layout and use the smaller blocks as part of the backing ....

Will keep you all posted ;)

My Friday Night with Friends ..........

started in the afternoon, so I guess it was really Friday Arvo with Friends, with Mr Fixit measuring up and cutting holes in the wall of the bedroom for the Plasma TV.  He was happy playing with his tools while the cricket was on in the background.

That meant I was able to spend the afternoon catching up on some much needed sewing for swaps guilt free!

First up, I got to finish up the last of the CraftMad Family Quilt blocks - 1 Pink and 1 Purple Churn Dash for Mandy, Merry and Annette

Craft Mad Family Quilt - Pink

Craft Mad Family Quilt - Purple

I also got to spend some time in the craft room finishing off my Craft Mad Money Box Swap - see my post HERE  ;-)

My very late blocks for October and a weekend with the girls ;-)

Well, October has certainly disappeared in the blink of an eye - where did it go?

I seem to have been so very busy, but don't really have that much to show for it :(

So I don't spoil the surprise for my last two Christmas Block Swap partners, Jean & Cynthia, here is just a tease ;-)

Both of these blocks are finally in the mail,
with my apologies for being so very late ;-)

I heard from Debbie, my partner for October QBSA, that my block has arrived
here is what Debbie sent me ;-)

This last week has been a blur, as I prepare for a weekend away with the girls in a School Reunion of sorts - in the lovely picturesque town of Victor Harbor, South Australia.

I am intending to visit The Quilt Basket ;-)

Photos will be posted on my return ;-)

October block for MicheleK

One of my partners for October was the lovely MicheleK who didn't have any particular preferences, but in discussion, it was determined that any block in Red and White would be good ;-)

This is what I sent.
MicheleK has let me know it has arrived safely and I quote
"I received your block and I love it. Churn dash is my all time favourite block :)"

Making list and checking it twice

I have been remiss in not blogging about my blocks, both sent and received on the various group blogs :(

So I have made a list and checked it twice ............  here is what I missed

This block is for Kerry for QBSA September swap, who requested any block in Burgundy, pink and cream - Thanks for letting me know it has arrived, Kerry - glad you like it.

This is the block Kerry sent me - thank you, it will fit in so well with all the others.

These gorgeous blocks were received from Erin (along with some extra scraps) for the September Christmas Block Swap - they are so lovely in real life - thank you Erin, I love the fabrics you have chosen.

This is what I sent Erin - which has now arrived safely, and Erin loves the bauble fabric ;-)

This is the block I made for Rosalyn for BSA for September.  Unfortunately, I haven't heard from Rosalyn, so I don't know if it has been received or not and I haven't received a block from her yet.

Pinwheel BlockHere is a block I made for Susan in July - this was my first time making a pinwheel block and I must admit, I enjoyed it very much.
Susan made this one for me ;-)

I hope I have now caught up with posting pics - if I have missed anyone, please let me know ;-)
