Abstract In most situations particle accelerators use beams at nearly the speed of light. Without Einstein’s theory of Special Relativity, they simply wouldn’t work. Since the theory is typically part of the university curriculum, we restrict ourselves to a review of the basics which are of interest for particle accelerators.
