Steampunk Shaker

I got inky this week! I started with a piece of Tim Holtz's Grunge paper: I stamped it with a stamp & heat-embossed it in rose gold (Lawn Fawn); I inked an embossing folder, lightly embossed it in my BigShot, and heat-embossed it in gold; I inked it with gold metallic ink and Cosmic Copper pigment ink; I stamped the corner & embossed it in silver.  For the bottom portion, I cut the border from an aluminum can, added some embossing powders, then ran just the bottom of the card through my BigShot with the same embossing folder. Such a fun effect! The shaker portion is from a Shake It kit; I used StazOn ink to stamp directly onto it. I filled it with die-cut gears & actual metal gear embellishments. I made the frame with two stitched circle dies, and added lots more embossing powder; all together, I used gold, silver, copper, rose gold, and aged copper enamel powders.

Monochromatic for a Child at the Crafter's Cafe

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge theme is Monochromatic for a Child, partly in celebration of National Child Awareness Month. Starting today, our challenges will run roughly 2 weeks, on the 1st & 15th days of the month. For this challenge, we're sponsored by Bugaboo and All Dressed Up Stamps, and I used A Star is Born by All Dressed Up.

I used a Sizzix Flipitz die for the card base, and a Shake It plastic piece for the shaker on front.

Thank you for visiting & hope you'll join us at The Crafter's Cafe,

Pilin' on the Snowmen

The theme this week at Pile It On is Christmas/Winter in July, and we're sponsored by StitchyBear's Digi Outlet and I used Snowman with Sign by Ken Benner Designs.

This was a relatively easy card to make, as the base is from an IO Shake It card set. I made the top layer from a DP using a circle die.

I colored the snowman (other than the snow part) with Copic markers. I made the background by coloring it green and going over it with a blender pen. The "Warm Wishes" sentiment is a physical stamp that just fit onto the image! I filled the shaker card with Polar White Flowersoft and silver & blue glitters. I covered the white border with Glossy Accent & Diamond Dust.

Challenges/Inspiration:
  1. 52 Christmas Card Throwdown: Snowman
  2. Addicted to Stamps and More #15: Holiday
  3. Christmas Stampin' All Year Long: Snow or Glitter
  4. Crafty Calendar: Christmas in July
  5. Hanna & Friends #226: Shaker Card + Cute Person/Animal (Cute Snowman)
  6. Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge: Winter Wonderland
  7. Little Claire's: Holidays
  8. Love to Scrap: 3 Embellishments (3 bows)
  9. Sparkle N Sprinkle July Challenge: Anything Goes with ... Loose Glitter (2nd entry)
  10. Tuesday Throwdown #235: Tic Tac Toe (Top Row: Stamp, Pattern Paper, Brads)
Update: This was chosen as a Top 3 for Tuesday Throwdown #235!

Thank you for visiting & inspiring my crafting! Hope you'll join us at Pile It On,

A little bit of Fantasy at Pile It On, with StampFairy

Get those challenge lists ready, because it's time for a new Pile It On Challenge! This week we have an especially fun theme: Fairytales, Fantasy & Daydreams.

I'm a volunteer at PIO, not an official member of the super-talented Design Team, but as a perk I get to play along from time to time! This week my excuse is that I'm pinch-crafting for Lorianna. I'll admit that one of the reasons I like the theme is because I chose it! We're sponsored this week by StampFairy, and they have so many fun images perfect for this challenge. Just wait till you see the beautiful projects our Design Team came up with!
I used a Sizzix flourish die to cut a pattern directly on the message portion for the inside:

As soon as I saw this sweet Mermaid digi by StampFairy, I knew I wanted to pair it with my Sea Critters stamp set from Recollections.

I colored the StampFairy image with Copics; the body is two pieces, as I had to make the tail separately. I added some "seaweed" to her hair with a FlowerSoft mix (two greens & a tan). I added some green flocking to the seaweed elements on the background pieces.

For the tail, I used Stampendous enamel & mica and their Fran•táge technique. I totally got this idea from Stampendous Designer Jennifer Dove, during one of her classes (for more info, see my post from January).

The plastic shaker card portion is a from a Impression Obsession "Shake It" set. I filled it with clear tiny marbles. The background was embossed with a Cuttlebug texture folder. I made a simple "poof" out of tulle for a final touch.
