Chic Invaders -- Digital at International Art & Soul

Our theme this fortnight at the International Art & Soul Challenge is Do Something Digital.

I won a gift certificate from Our Daily Bread Designs from the Coffee Loving Cardmakers' Winter Blog Hop, and used it to buy myself their "Surprise Box" die set. It's so fun to use!

The adorable "Space Invaders in Disguise" digi stamp is a freebie from Wonderstrange. The "Out of this World" sentiment is a free digi stamp from Digital Doodling. The patterned, digital papers are from .
For the third card, I made a old-school computer monitor-inspired sentiment. I die-cut the square pieces, and heat embossed the sentiment (Stampin'D'Amour) in white on the same shiny green paper I used for the base of the other two cards; I used a shiny black base for this card. Can't get enough of these Hipster Invaders!

I'm so happy I could puke rainbows!

A friend recently got a great new job, so I made this congratulations card for him:

I grabbed this freebie digi stamp from Wonderstrange quite awhile ago, and I'm glad I finally got the perfect opportunity to use it. I colored the image & background with Copics and added detail with Wink of Stella glitter pens. It's attached to the card with an Action Wobble. The cityscapes & balloons are cut from foiled cardstock with a MFT die & Elizabeth Craft dies, respectively. The background is a silk-patterned paper from my stash. I stamped the sentiment with black StazOn ink and wrote over it with a silver gen pen.

Naughty Snowman

I can't help it, I get a big giggle out of this image by Wonderstrange! It's just perfect for the current "Naughty Christmas" challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. The shaker is filled with Diamond Dust, which means I'm basically sending a card full of crushed glass!

I created the snowglobe myself, with circle dies. The globe frame is heat-embossed with white glitter powder, and the bottom portion is heat-embossed with black glitter powder. The banner is a wood veneer piece that I inked in black; I used letter stamps to heat-emboss the sentiment in neon orange. The image is colored with glitter & gel pens, and the background is painted with a glitter Wink of Stella pen. I used pom-pom wired ribbon for the bow & to hang the banner. The background paper is an old favorite form my stash. Hope this card brings someone a big smile and doesn't fall apart!

Creepy Cute Mummy Card

I ran across this Skellie Dude by Sarah from Wonderstrange in my digital stash and thought it was about time to use it!

The card base is a kraft paper that I wrapped with fabric tape. It really looks mummy-ish, doesn't it
As some of you know, we spent many hours in the hospital this summer, and the nurses often sent us home with extra medical tape & were nice enough to let us keep the blue rubber tourniquets they used to take blood. We're enjoying healthy times these days, but I amassed quite the collection of medical supplies for crafting purposes!

I colored the rubber piece with a black marker (it barely adheres) and added an orange washi tape to create the side banner.

The oval pieces were cut with a Sizzix die. The purple oval is cut from a very glittery cardstock.

I printed the image on white paper and colored it with Copics and gel pens. I fussy-cut it and glued it to the Kraft piece embossed with a Sizzix folder. I placed the piece on an Action Wobble for a little fun!

Do check out Wonderstrange. They have the most unique digis & project tips on their Freebies page.

Free Digi Fun

Oh my heavens I've had too much fun making "Sugar Skull" cards this year (see all my Día de Muertos projects here)! I thought I had it out of my system but ...

I goofed and entered a card into Digi Haven's Halloween Challenge forgetting that the focus of their fun challenges is to use a Free Digi! I really like the concept, but I completely spaced and entered a card using a Stitchy Bear/Ike's Art image. The Digi Haven team has left me some wonderful comments, but I did want to take up the suggestion to try again!

This time, I decided to use one of the funky freebies available at Wonderstrange, and when I saw their Valentine Sugar Skull I just had to make a shaped card:

I used kraft-core, patterned paper (Recollections for the skull & the paper-pieced bits. My husband says the "orange" looks leathery, and we both approve! I added detail to the image with Sakura gel pens and brads.

I decided to use my Dilo en Español sentiment stamps again; I hadn't used the "Dia de las Brujas" ("Witches' Day") sentiment yet, so I decided to make a Halloween/Día de Muertos card. Nothing like a little cross-cultural design!

The sentiment is heat-embossed in shiny blue, and the jaw is attached with one of the star brads.

I cut out the eyes on the skull to reveal a cute witch from a scrap of Graphic 45's Happy Haunting / Jolly Jack-O-Lantern DP (does anyone recognize this brand?! - found it, thanks to Papersniffer!)

Inspiration/Challenges:
Update: This was chosen as a Top 3 for Digi Haven's Halloween Challenge. Plus, I sent it to my dad he and loved it. So double-thanks, Digi Haven!

Many thanks to Digi Haven for the inspiration ... twice! Thank you for visiting,

Pile On the Patterned Paper!

This week at Pile It On, we want you to pull out that delicious Patterned Paper!

I had a bunch of scrap pieces from my Patterned Kraft DP pack from Recollections, so I made a tag/gift card holder using this fun Nutcracker freebie by Wonderstrange Art.

I used my wood-grain embossing plate form a*muse studios for the back:
