19TH CENTURY

1920s Gold Art Deco Flapper Dress Dance Costume Showgirl Burlesque. It is made from a silk lace, covered in the most delicate beadwork and given movement by the panels of beaded fringe in gold, clear and white glass. The fabric is a soft gold embellished with tiny gold sequins, pearls and tiny glass tubular beads. There are also panels of beaded fringe which really animate the outfit. The final flourish is given by repeated motifs created with tiny pearl beads. Front

A Brussels point de gaze lace collar/dress front. Beautifully shaped to fit the princess line fitted bodice of the mid 1870s, with small ruffle to high neck. Design of trailing flowers and strap work, with single rose to back neck. Neck measures 41cms (16ins), back neck to edge 17cms (6.75ins), centre front 37cms (14.5ins). Creamy mid-ivory colour, a couple of tiny pin holes and repairs otherwise excellent condition.
