The Contemporary Resort Walt Disney World I've only stayed at Port Orleans Riverside otherwise so I can't speak about much comparatively, but the Contemporary was a great hotel to stay at. The photo of the Contemporary from the Mailer in 1971. Notice the train circling the park where Space Mountain would eventually be built. Also, up near the top, you can see where the Monorail & trains were kept at the roundhouse area. To the right of that was the employee parking area and where Disney University would eventually be built. I have no idea what may be in that area now.
